I apologize for the extreme delay in the video production. Unfortunately adding insult to injury, ALL of my process and videoing for the PT.2 has been corrupted so instead. I talk about how i restored it and painted it as well as how this machine functions. With the process on how I rebuilt it.

Hey man i followed you on tiktok and hadnt seen some of your videos for awhile and realized you dont have your account anymore is everything good
Pretty neat you taking this apart to get it working again. Thanks for posting. Also, if you do this a lot, you should get yourself a set of thread chasers to clean the threads with instead of the cutters because those threads on the 1/2 13 bolt are way too loose so I hope you put some thread locker on it.
If you go about twice that fast the grass will fall to the back better. PS: make sure you file your teeth so they’re super sharp. Dull teeth push the grass over more.
That was a wonderful video ,I'm currently working on a McCormick no6 with no skills
I think you will find that is new Ideal ,not new idea .I have one that I hanged to a power take off cart to run my two spinner Tedder with y horses , my uncle had one of these that he mowed with for many yrs. They were a very good machine .
is that a number 9 ?
I have a ideal Deering I took the drive wheel off and the 2 springs fell out and the 2 other metal pieces and I do not know how to put them back on could you help me out on this
You more than likely will have to replace the spring if I’m not mistaken, it should have a washer against the spring to ride on. Let me look up a schematic and I’ll try finding.
If you allow me some advice, before starting with the hammer on blocked parts it is advisable to spray a WD-40 unlocking product.
It is a team mower. I never seen single horse mower. I grew up using one.
That's not a ram, it's the plunger.
Rev speed or wheel speed on PTO?
PTO
this was helpful thank you im about to buy a jd 14t bailer myself so now ik what to look for and how to maintain it
Great video thumbs 👍
I love to see you work on the germs what’s I’m having to do with my horse sickle lock up bad
thanks
Hey man are you okay?
Yeah dude ,are u okay??
I’m trying to remove those pickup c metal pieces and the bolts underneath keep breaking
Unfortunately, that usually happens the best that I can tell you is to use some type of penetrator such as PB blaster or WD-40. There is a special can that uses subzero temperatures very cold to freeze the bolts to free them up easier it’s not too expensive. I forgot what it was called though.
You need to see a complete lift mechanism sir. I listened to your description of the lifting lever and you seem to have a wrong idea of how it functions.
I have the same mower. I use mine and That tongue you have there won't last 5 minutes. You need oak, ash, hickory. Softwood will snap in any sort of real heavy mowing or a clog. If you want to see one in field ready shape I just posted a video a few days ago.
Jake, where does one get parts for these, I am rehabbing a Giant that has the gears and clutch facing the other way.
Unfortunately they are very had to find parts for. You may have to make a gear for it or find one at a place that sells them
At the moment all mine needs is the pitman arm that has the oil cup like yours in the video.
@@derweibhai I made my pitman arm. Use a hardwood.
Hey bro , I really like your video! My grandpa gave me an old No.7 mower about a year ago and I’ve been restoring it. I’m about to the stage of painting it and I was wondering if you used primer or just straight paint. I got a good deal on a gallon of Majic paint and I’m not sure if I needed primer or not. Thanks for your time!
That’s a good question it’s always a good idea to prime any type of metal you are painting however, there are some paints out there that can be directly applied to metal. because they have the primer mixed in with it. I would also highly suggest trying to sandblast it, making sure the paint can get to freshly cleaned metal
@@coyotecolors hey thanks for the reply! I’ve been cleaning everything with a wire brush on a angle grinder and drill. I’ve asked a few people that have painted tractors, equipment, etc and they said to prime everything. Just one more question, I was thinking about getting a needle scaler to sandblast some parts. How would you recommend sandblasting?
@@coyotecolors I’ve also been soaking parts in evapo-rust, it seems to be working good as well.
I would try getting a independent sandblaster sprayer that hooks up to an air compressor. Make sure you have one that has a very big compression rate and get very good media for spraying all the metal some thing that’s pretty course.
@@coyotecolors Ok, thank you for the info! I’ll talk to my grandpa about using his sandblaster. I would like to sandblast it but the “sand” it uses is like $50 a bag. Parts seem to be pretty hard to find for these old things. I know of 1 supplier and that’s it. Maybe I’ll find someone with an old one for parts. Thanks for responding!
I see straps as if you live in hurricane area. But it looks cold there. Where is that?
Missouri
Hi good video on your baler. I have a old 445D international baler. It takes a while to understand what workers well these old balers. I use a graphite spray on chains and other parts. You need to be mindful about moving parts and the danger zone. Part are limited and difficult to find. I am considering buying a small lathe. Keep the videos up. Aust down under.
Have you ever taken off any of the drivetrain gears..? with luck?
Unfortunately, yes, but I have severely damaged some parts doing it. A lot of them were pressed on our have Ruston onto the point to where removing it will cause catastrophic damage. I have not yet found a way to easily fix that problem.
one of your other followers in the comments asked about finding parts for these...other than ebay...or finding another parts machine doner. Son you happen to know the name of these places?
@@jeffdagendesh2482 I know here in Missouri there are a lot of antique farm equipment stores. If you search up your states name and type in antique farm implement stores, you should find some usually in bigger country towns.
Have you ever taken an axle out and redone the bearings?
Yes it’s very difficult to get that axel out need a lot of patience and heat. And you need to make sure it’s the right correct fit for the bearing you are replacing.
@@coyotecolors i enjoyed you video on this. I have 2 McCromick Deering, #6 in the process of redoing. everything seems to be loose. But i wanted to flush out those axle bearings some how
@@jeffdagendesh9011 you can definitely use Molly grease or a high-pressured grease gun. You may have to drill out a part of the frame to install a grease nipple on it. I have done that in the past.
F
How did you knock out the coil spring pins?
On what part are you referring to?
tractor stabilizer bars i think is what they are called? Basically I’m removing them so i can just hook up the 501 to my 3 pt hitch
@@dougirwin3053 oh, I see what you were referring to. Honestly they came out pretty easily. However, you may have to wind up blow torch in them to put on three point hitch attachments.
Wd-40 would help loosen fasteners
I have one like it too but it is lock up bad
Do you have a sulky plow for sale
No sir I do not unfortunately
I love buying that old horse equipment
Hi and thank you for the video. I just purchased my first tractor. I've never operated one before. I have a drainage ditch that is about 300 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 4-5 feet deep. In a different area, I have a 45 degree bank that is about 6 feet tall. I want to keep the grass, weeds, and saplings cut down. I have a brush hog but it can't get at the areas. I'm thinking about getting a sickle mower to do these jobs. A new sickle mower can cost over $6,000. That is about 3 grand more than I can afford. I see some old sickle mowers online for around $1,500-$2,000. Since I know nothing about them, should I stay away from the used mowers? Do you have any recommendations?
Hi good question the newer sickle mower all they really have that are different from the older ones are hydraulic lifts. If you don’t mind spending the extra money the newer ones are somewhat easier to use but you can get a nice cheap sickle mower that’s old for around a couple hundred dollars they’re not expensive at all. Starting out if you decide to use a sickle mower and use it a lot for deep ditches like you say you may want to invest in a newer one
Nice, thank you. You guys are a beautiful couple. God bless.
Thanks for the video. I just bought a Ford 501 7' sickle mower. It seems to be in pretty good shape. However I can't move freely with my hands it seems to be frozen or binding somewhere. Any ideas what I should look for?
That’s a good question yes look to see if any other blades are hitting on the shear beds. Or rock guards Also look to see if the bar of the sycamore is straight and true and it’s not curved at all
@@coyotecolors Thank you I'll check out those areas. I had forgotten that the blade assembly was called a sycamore. Nice nostalgia word 👍
Like the Long so far? Looking at one. Do you know the engine manufacturer?
So far I have no complaints on this tractor other than it is hard to find parts for. The engine manufacture was from a company over in Romania
@@coyotecolors yeah, that’s what I thought. I’ve scoured eBay to see what’s on their, random things but prices aren’t terrible. Gotcha, that’s interesting
Great vid. Have just found one of these mowers and have no experience with them. Just heard that they make cleaner hay than the disc mowers as they dont whirl dirt up as much or at all.
I need that timing video please 😁
Good walk thru! Picked up one for $200 rusting away in a field and am going to get it running for a backup baler. Made a few test bales with it and it ran but it needs some love. Thanks for the content
I have an old rusty one of these I may try and get going, I just missed someone selling another one for $500.
Hi there Mr strange cult leader from tiktok
I got the same one. The A-frame bent on the first use. Cheap flatbar braces allowed for too much play.
I need the blade and a couple other parts for mine if you have a idea of where I can find parts
I know they are a few places around the country that actually have a large surplus of these types of pieces of equipment. I believe one is in Florida and another is in California
@@coyotecolors mine is rough I know it was working when I was little and a tree limb fell on it
