Where would you go about setting up a heartbeat connection
@BrandonRiley-j2x support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109818073/s7-1500-opc-ua-server-self-diagnostics?dti=0&lc=en-WW I would use the timestamps as the basis as there are a few ways. I assume you mean for the OPC Server side because the client side is quite easy to evaluate. Clock Bytes or Timestamps: You can use either clock bytes or timestamps as a basis. Clock bytes are easy to work with, and there’s a checkbox for them in the OPC server. However, consider using more strategic OPC UA timestamps for better alarm functionality. Client Timestamps: The client can also add timestamps (like DTL, DATE, and TIME) to the OPC Server system. It evaluates these timestamps internally. TIA Portal v18 or higher: If you’re using TIA Portal v18, Siemens introduced an internal “loopback" for the server without having to make a client setup. This lets the server see its own diagnostics data. You can query something like the timestamp updates and other details from the client on the server's namespace. I modified that app note link above for this purpose, and it worked well. In either of the cases, for the client this is easy and included in a timestamp, but from the server, it's going to require a call to code. Best of luck with your endeavors.
Hello, I am using TIA Portal and WinCC RT Advanced on a Windows system. I have enabled Simatic Logon to view notifications through the Alarm view in the HMI. However, I would like to know the source of the data being used, which I see can be viewed from the Simatic Logon Event Viewer, which I do not have on my machine. I am wondering if I need to buy an additional package or if there is a better way to view the logging.

Work in oracle database?
Never tried that one. The title for the library does say Microsoft. I know the WinCC Unified System can now easily query a lot using database snippets in the scripting windows.
Hi there! I'm on the lookout for a tool for Allen-Bradley PLCs, akin to SiVArch for Siemens PLCs, that can automatically generate faceplates and link them to tags based on predefined rules. Does anybody know if such a tool exists? I've been searching extensively but haven't found anything similar
There exists no tooling like this for most competitors. I used to program AB a lot, but the work there is uphill and flat file-based. You must make your own tooling.

Hi, sorry where can i get the Energy Suite Library?
support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109741558/energy-support-library-(ensl)-download?dti=0&lc=en-WW They called it the energy support library; when you install energy suite it is supposed to place it automatically in your global library structure, this way sivarc, and openness can access the library for auto generation of code and HMI. If you choose to you can do this yourself, you will need the EnSL.
I use panel tp900 comfort , the problem that in the panel write a message of error (: could not connect to the rfid card reader , error code 7 ) did u know how I can risolve it
Which badge reader model and what manufacturer of badge did you try? Rf10x0 by Siemens can cover high and or low frequencies. If your badge is a UHF badge and not the traditional badge, you may have issues. Are you using the PMLogon for panel install, or did you try the HMI Options + with the PM Logon basic? What has to happen is a driver must communicate with the badge reader. Then this software can produce the badge id via, OPC UA to the panel or through the soap server. These are your options for setup.
Which badge type did you pick? Which communication method did you pick between PMLogon for panel and the HMI tag sync?
thanks
Happy to know this work is still helping !!! Even though it’s from a few years back.
Good morning. My PLC is not a siemens (B&R in this case). I try to find this PLC online but it doesn't work. Do I have to do it with Imported Interface .xml? Thanks in advance.
Do the tools like UA Expert or SiOME function correctly? Is it an HMI or another processor as the client? Yes exporting the interface, and import it in B&R is the right next move it you can't browse it online. I would tend to think you maybe have something like passwords or certificates or endpoint URL with port numbers could be wrong. For example the address may not be what you think it is, or maybe you are dealing with a NAT? Then if nothing else, maybe a wireshark sniff can show what is actually attempting to happen.
When you use the client interface to search for other data using opcua, you probably failed to configure the properties of that client interface, which provides the IP address to each server you are trying to connect to. If you just do a search, you're probably missing the URI and port numbering. Wireshark it to see what is going out. I am certain you did ensure it pings right?
I believe you have configured the port number as you should in the client interface, but what you don't want to do is include it twice, otherwise, the search is not going to work, see here: ua-cam.com/video/nXUsnkgHsGk/v-deo.htmlsi=Ani0AUCDxMkD9UO3&t=140

Do you work for Siemens or do you just really like our equipment ?
Rushing to the comments to see- * crickets* Aw, crap.
I know... 🤣thanks for being the first. It's really because UA-cam isn't ready for me so it doesn't know how to classify me. These two PLCs are actually comparing a lot against each other with code running. The code is to load it with a complex math calculation to which I run , and then share it between them using OPC UA. Then the webservers are available with the VoT application to see the true 53ish percent increase in total processing of code and comms.
Hi, I have a project from customer with configured users and passwords in User Menagment for OPC serwer in Tia Portal, and my question is did you know is it possible to get user password from Tia Portal project ?
Hi, No once passwords are typed they become asterisk out of view. Most project I seen have the password as the comment, which is bad security but a way to combat your current situation. You could go in there and put the password you like but do know any other connections using that username and password will need to also be reconfigured. Maybe try and turn off the certificates and wireshark sniff the connection for username passwords .Best of luck in your endeavors.

Just came across your channel. Great content. Do you have any content on edge or fog computing with Siemens?
I worked some edge with the energy manager app back for the Energy suite demo. I didn’t record that portion of it due to a significant improvement which wasn’t there at the time, and that already came called the IIH. I did use it successfully and it was based on what can be found here: github.com/industrial-edge/energy-manager-getting-started Simatic industrial edge gives you 30 day trial, and you can run the manager on a VM. Ideally you would want a unified comfort or a an IPC as an edge device. Hope this can get you started though.

Hello i tried to import LBP v2.7 on TIA PORTAL V17 (in new project not demo project of siemens) using document "109749508_LBP_V2.7_Implementation_DOC_en" but not working there many errors. can you help me ?
Use the demo and delete out the logic you don't want. Way easier than explaining all the steps. If you miss any of the components in the project explorer found in the project library then you will have errors. If you are generating using SiVarc you must have the global project open for example. The SiVarc rules reference them instead of the project library. Best of luck!
@System-Restored thanks for your response Also i tried to delete logic i don't want but there many erorrs also i can't replace the plc (i have redundant plc) Can you send me steps to delete existing logic without errors please?
@@riadhsalahbh It may take a while before I can give all the steps to delete. An alternative to this is a TIA Add-in that is called PLC Copy, which would copy all the components into your PLC in either direction. I' would suggest this method as an alternative. You should only need the library blocks, the library data types, and a global block that contains the "panels" tag as you see in the example project on SIOS. You may need to consider if the 1517H has any limitations in the firmware you have. There are very few instructions that are different on the redundant plcs.

On your video, are the Network 2 and 3 are an obligation or we can do it without them ?
Not required in this way, but you do need a string command of some sort. Here is what they were doing, network 2 turns a tag value to string, network 3 concatenates all the necessary text together for the SQL command before it is sent in later network using sql function block.
@@System-Restored okay thanks a lot

How to download TIA Portal Add-in software ?
support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109773999/tia-add-ins?dti=0&lc=en-WW Sorry and thank you for the reminder, it's in the comments section now also.
Can you give this sample project to me for testing?
If you install the trial for energy suite, then you too can generate blocks and hmi code for testing. Truly is a click through operation once the field devices are in Portal. Here's an example, find the "109739102_EnS_Hardware_Lib_V15" library with pre-configured hardware. support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109739102/simatic-energy-suite-getting-started?lc=en-ww The Energy Support library is a free to use library and can be implemented without Energy Suite. Inside the library you can find completed parts like the 3VA6 that I used in this video. There is also an example project here, but it will not have the v18 features as it's hosted in v15; so what you can do is open the v15 file in v18, and then just re-generate the energy code.
Hey I am using TIA V17 and im using the newer lib from siemens. When I try to connect i first get Status 7002 for about 15 secs, then it changes to 8602. When configering the SQLconfig block, Do you have to put the IP Adress of the Server PC or the Sql server itself?
What is the sub function error code, not the one from the main block? Probably not finding remote partner. Nic of the computer the sql is on. There is a spot in the video that shows how to align the nic to the sql studio. @5:52 IP number is the NIC. You must make sure the ip address and subnet mask scheme are setup to mesh as well.
@Til Steinhorst Do know it is more about knowing the sub-function error than the actual error you see at the use of the block. This is going to be located under the instance data. The Subfunction directly relates to the errors you see by the OUC block
@@System-Restored I made it work a few weeks ago. I used the wrong connection ID. Thanks:)

@@tilsteinhorst 🙂Been there done that. Also it helps if you do alot of open user communcations to break it up over several connections. For example with a larger system maybe it make sense to break up the connections for your PLC to breathe a bit.

Very nice work. Siemens has released a new library for communicating with sql. lsql v3.0. Are you going to make an example for this library?

Hi guy How can I run Wincc Unified on the android, IOS ? Any more seting on the phone? Thank
Assuming you mean the web client? This is configured in the runtime settings. Then if you connect an internet or wireless connection, the runtime is viewable as a web client. If you are on the phone with something like the wireless solution, then you will want to set your IP address for static in the same network. There will be a need to handshake the certificates if you chose this method.
@@System-Restored Thank for your support. I'm trying open WINCC unified runtime from Client device at the same network with runtime server in 2 mode: 1. Without certificate file step - I can open wincc runtime on WINDOW client OK, But can't runtime on androis or IOS client. After I click on "Wincc Unified runtime" on the web, it switched to empty green page. 2. With certificate file step - On the window client, I could install certificate file and open runtime OK. But with IOS and android client, I couldn't install certificate file on them.
Sorry I didn’t see this comment sooner. Since you are meaning runtime here, the certificates can be generated by a tool that is installed with wincc unified. Here you need to instantiate with a device name and IP. Then configure the type of certificates your panel and users require. The nice part is once your end device is verified then you can install the certificates from the manager on windows with unified on it. IMO, The reason one works but not the other is because you are already using the certificate generated by Tia portal. There is a way to generate your own certificate in Tia portal also. Maybe you could add the wireless device into this hmi certificate.
Hi, I've been stuck in Error code 80C6 ("The connection partner cannot be reached') for siemens S7 - 1500. I can open the port for the SQL server IP through telnet. It's failing in the connection state and doesn't get beyond there. Are there any recommendations to tackle this? Thanks in advance
Which sql engine are you trying? Be sure the double check as I'm sure you have, the password and username along with ip address. Remember the IP address can appear in hex and be a bit confusing. Also in SQL the user has to have the read/write access as part of the policy. The one thing that stopped me for the longest was port blockages, and adding the pass thru in the sql express service configuration. I use IP3, but it may not be the right config for you. See @6m the port config. It's always important to restart the server after such a change.
@@System-Restored Thanks for the uber-fast reply, I'm using the Microsoft SQLserver engine I believe (it came as part of the SQLEXPRESS installation). Just to verify if my account credentials are working I tried to log in using my R script and it worked. Now I tried a different IP on my VM (the siemens PLC Virtual ethernet adapter) and I was able to make the connection from the PLC (I also changed to Listen to all ports option to TRUE and added a 0 on the dynamic port entry for the IP). When I try to execute a simple insert query like in the video, I get stuck at 'Done Token has wrong status' #8606 for AnalyzeMetadata block. I don't see the data being inserted through SSMS either.
@@samsundar427 Okay that's a different error. so just to be clear you are past the other,? This one is probably that you are trying a newer block than the demo you see. Be sure to take your wireshark sniff, and expand the datatype for "custom user datatype" that comes with the newer versioned example. If you are unsure of how many tokens you are expecting back just make a big array of bytes to dump stuff in. This should get you going, but technically the insert should write to regardless of your token being landed. Wireshark that thing, see if you can see the message.
@@System-Restored Yessuh, the first issue was solved, thanks. TheseToken issues #8606 (wrong token status) and #8607 (wrong token type) are where I'm still at. I tried monitoring that IP address using Wireshark and saw a lot of random packets but when I filter just for port 1443 I don't see anything (even though the SQLserver is configured to use that IP at 1443 for transactions). I'm actually receiving back some data of length 54 on TDS telegram but that array is in hex bytes and it doesn't make sense when I convert it to ASCII. Since I'm getting stuck at the SQL send state for the main LSql block there is no insertion happening :( Sorry to make your comment section a siemens forum.
@@samsundar427 Filter by TDS, and you should be able to first see the command, then the tokens need to be the right size. Theoretically, you could just make an array large enough just to get past the point of being able to insert. The TRCV I think hold the buffer there. The Token part is just a UDT array that you have to custom fit to recieve back the tokens. An insert typically just sends back a single status token saying the values received. Thanks for the effort. I reached this point 3:30 but I can't open the localhost. It says the website is not secure and It doesn't show " proceed to localhost ( unsafe) " like yours. Can you help me please
Ensure you type HTTPS and not HTTP, also if you cannot see what I show, try to use your PC name instead of localhost, use CMD prompt, and type, whoami. Then put that in instead. One other alternative is to type the IP address of the PC you are simulating on. The way of Computer name vs IP usually resolves this issue but based on how you configure the Unified configuration tool for access depends on which one to use. See 0:48. Technically Localhost should resolve unless maybe for some reason you have two programs fighting for localhost control. Never seen localhost fights, but I could imagine this could happen. Simply put when you see this at 3:30, This just means you do not have the certificate installed on the UCP or on your computer. You cannot use Internet explorer which I'm sure you know. If it's chrome or edge, find the spot that says, "continue even though it's not safe". Then you will be able to temporarily get around this.
