This fly is based on the "Best Bluegill fly ever". The difference is that its an attractor. It should drive the Bluegill crazy.

This is an emerger attractor pattern. It will ride well in the water and should be a killer for the trout.

Went to a pond that I fished as a kid. Have not been back for 40 years. So, traveling back in time to see how it is. The pond is over 100 years old. This should be interesting.

Bluegill Bully Spider
Переглядів 15528 днів тому
The Bluegill Bully Spider is supposed to be one of the best bluegill and red ear sunfish flies there is. Its easy to tie. I use a size 10 hook, micro chenille, size 015 lead wire and some black leg material.

I show how I make really good homemade leaders with Maxima leader material.
Love your fly ties 😎🎣
Thanks, I enjoy tying them.
I’ve cleaned up all summer at Montauk with a 16 or 18 Adam’s or Parachute Adam’s. I don’t think I’ve ever not caught a fish with either of those two.
Yea, the Adam's is a great fly, I use it a lot too.
I can see why you named the fly SBD. I believe you are right. I'm going to have to wait a bit to get out to fish for a bit. Because here in Missouri, we are under an extreme heat warning until Friday. Be blessed. My friend.
Yea, I went out last weekend and got overheated. Its gonna be worse this week. I think I'll stay inside and tie some more flies. Thanks
I see the reloading equipment on your bench . Make some videos on reloading that would be grate 👍🏻
I'll probably try to make some later in the year, Thanks.
Will give it a try think’s for the videos 👍🏻
Let me know how it works, I have high hopes. Thanks
another one to make and put into the tacklebox
Yea, having lots of options is the trick. Thanks
always ready to add to the tackle box..thanks..
You bet
Big Bluegill move out to deep water in the summer, they are not too worried about being eaten like the little ones are. In the evening, they will move in shallow to feed on whatever. That is what looks like happened with you, the big ones moved into your fishing area. Some people get all of the breaks, catch lots of fish, have a great UA-cam Channel, tie great flies, live where there are lots of lakes and ponds and can fish in them, yeah, some people have it made in the shade. You wouldn`t know anything about that would you? Those are some impressive Bluegill; I will have the oil heated up and the breading ready to go with hush puppies, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. Thanks for another great video.
Yea, I figured most went deep. With a fly rod it's really hard to find them under those conditions. Just takes more exploring. Thanks for watching and take care.
I make a kinds of flys ,fly fishing lures, my favorite poppers are with Walmart white/orange cheep floats, the hollow ones after you pull the stem out.take hobby knife cut in sections a groove at.bottop glue head.dress hook. body is hollow and not only pops but also blow air and water through hole blowing air bubbles behind them . Also wooden golf tee's work great for poppers. papa wishing you well 😊
Yea, Poppers work well. I make the heads by gluing sheet foam together. Thanks
Those 3 would make a meal though. Thanks for posting.
I turned them loose because they had the guts to strike my fly. Thanks.
@@Callaweginflyfishing 🙂
I like this one, I need to tie up some, thank you sir
Yea, its buggy enough to drive the crazy. Thanks
Thank you for the instructions.
You are welcome!
What a fine cricket. All crickets are ugly so no need to be precise with them close is good. That one is real good. Be blessed. My friend.
Yea, they are ugly, but the fish like them. Thanks.
Interesting!! Tight lines🕷️🐛🐜!!!!
Yea, I've tried several cricket patterns, but I think this is the best.
Looking good
Thanks 👍
Very nice ty! Tight lines🐛🐜🕷️!!!!
Thanks, had some strikes on it and several came up for a look.
Thankyou for the info. It never occurred to me, so 👍👍👍👍👍👍 on your tutorial! Will this work on conventional hackle as well! Tight lines🕷️🐜🐛!!!!
Yea, it works on conventional hackle. If I only have conventional hackle, I usually use the normal gel because its cheaper.
I looked on the internet under loon and found NO lotion!!!!
@@robertperman8967 The name of the Loon product is Lochsa.
@@Callaweginflyfishing thanks
Thanks for the helpful tips. Even when the fishing is slow being out in Gods beautiful creation we call nature is wonderful. More people should slow down and enjoy it with us fishermen. Be blessed. My friend.
You got that right. Thanks
What sizes do you tie and fish this fly? It looks good and buggy.
I usually use size 16. I tie it in 14, 16 and 18.
Good looking fly.
I think so too!
This is a great creek - fished here lots - these are Brown trout you are showing. Glad you had a great time.
Thanks for watching!
Great looking ant!
Thanks
The glue I dont care for😊😊
I kinda like it.
What was that you used for the body ? Nice contrast with the wing !
Turkey Biot, wrapped with the thick edge towards the rear. Thanks
Ver good-looking fly. You should have good fishing adventures with it. Be blessed. My friend.
Yea, I think it will work great. Would had tried it today, but I had to change the fuel filters in my F250, not as much fun as fishing!
Thank You Robert 🎉 🌟🙏🏻💫
Your welcome. Thanks for watching.
That was a real treat to relive with you your childhood days fishing spot. Wish I could go back to some of my old fishing spots. But they are not in the family or owned by family friends anymore. But still have those good memories. Thanks for taking me back to those times. Be blessed. My friend.
Yea,, it was fun. Don't know why I did not do is sooner. Some times you just loose track of time. Thanks
That fly looks like it was born in the 70s. The fish will love it. That will be another bluegill killer. Be blessed. My friend.
I think so too. Could not use it on the old pond. Can't wait to try it on some open water.
Reliving the past is sometimes a real treat. Thanks for posting.
Yea, it was a lot of fun, just thinking back. Thanks
That pond was NOT easy to fish! Lots of obstacles on your backcast! Well done. 👍🏻
Yea, but it worked out. Just, ,minor casting issues. Thanks
Thank you for the demonstration. I have those materials so I'll give them a try.
Let me know how they work. Thanks
@@Callaweginflyfishing Will do.
I love tying and making odd workable flys and lures. I make poppers out of different things. my tea time poppers I use wooden golf tees. cutting a goruve setting hook to length. short hooks for laying on top. longer hooks for slightly below surface, more weight if wanting body setting at 25_45 degrees with head still out of water. Papa wishing you well 😊
Golf Tees, sounds like a good idea. Thanks
Very creative, an interesting pattern. I went blue gill fishing this morning for a couple of hours.. Would have enjoyed trying this out. I'll tie a couple and see what happens. I have not gone the UV/resin route. I am still using Sally's Hard As Nails as a cement. You are convincing me, maybe I should give it a try. Hope your trip with the new flies was productive. Thanks for posting
I tried one this morning. Too much moss on the water. Had to go with a sinking fly to get under the moss. Let me know how they work. Thanks.
Nice fly Robert I think I’ll tie a few thanks for your effort on u tube keep ‘em comin 😊
You won't regret it. Thanks
Enjoyed this one. Thanks
Awesome, thank you!
You are right it looks messed up, but most dead bugs do. But fish love dead bugs, so I would think the bluegills also. You are getting a large collection of bluegill busters now. Be blessed. My friend.
I really planned on using this for trout. Size 14 is a little small for the bluegill. In any case, I think both would hit it. Thanks
I love your videos
Thanks, I love making them. Take Care.
With this new fly and the old standby best bluegill fly ever. The bluegills are going to start fearing you. Have a lot of fun. Be blessed. My friend.
You got that right!
Thanks for posting, hope it works for you.
I hope so too. thanks
Check out the cap spider it is also a killer for bluegills
Yea, I started looking into the cap spider. Trying to figure out what variations there are. Thanks
Nice job Robert , this is an over rated bug , your Best bluegill fly is the best, I’ve used both
I figured that might be the case. I hope to test it out, when everything quits flooding around here. Thanks
Yet another of Your patterns that I admire !!! Thank you !!! 🌟🎣💫
Glad you like them!
Robert, I tied 7 of your best bluegill fly ever shared one with my fishing buddy and we both caught Bluegills for 4 hours at a high pressured lake in Indiana😊 thanks for your videos I always enjoy them and I would love to fish Montauk With you some day I think im a few years older than you and your brother fyi.
Scott, I almost always end up using that fly for the bluegill. Thanks.
Came to this video from one of your other videos. Enjoyed it, glad I found your channel. Subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Awesome, thank you!
Enjoyed the video. It would have been nice for you to add some commentary on how you are fishing for them and the fly you used. Great job, looks like you were enjoying yourself.
Sometimes I get so into the fishing that I forget to mention stuff. I'll work on that. Thanks
Enjoyed this, will check out your channel. Looks like some handloading equipment and a crossbow in the background. Hope to see those in action as well. Great job!
Yea, I'm into shooting quite a bit. Load all my own amo. Went to the cross bow a few years ago, I was getting a little shaky with my compound. Thanks.
I was glad to hear that you get to learn while teaching us things about a hobby and activity that we enjoy. I love to learn new things. Thank you. Be blessed. My friend.
The older I get the more I realize how little I know. Thanks.
Great video! Im new at tying and your videos are awesome! Thank you.
Glad you like them, Thanks.
Tell us what you are using.
I describe it in the video. Basically a size 16 hoot, Ginger cor de leon for the tail, red copper wire and peacock. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing that. I've had UA-cam channels before & I've created & hosted my own podcast before. I created this channel to learn more about fly fishing and to share what I've learned with others. I'm part of a fly fishing organization and I'm learning a lot there which I can share on here, and what I learn on here I can share there. A big goal that I have and am working on is writing a book on fly fishing. I want it to be part autobiography and part educational. How I went from knowing nothing about fly fishing, to being proficient.
Thats exactly what I talked about. The act of making the videos just drives your knowledge base up. Thanks.
@Callaweginflyfishing Thank you.
