Hey gal! You are so brave to share these details of your routine. I also take levothyroxine and an iron supplement, but please double check with your doctor because it's my understanding that these two should be taken at minimum 4 hours apart. The levothyroxine does not absorb as well in the presence of the iron so i take my levo first thing when i wake up and then my iron at night. Wishing you lots of blessings with this new baby! ❤️

Not that having diabetes is easy, it certainly isn’t, but I would think being gluten free would be much harder. Which condition do you find harder to deal with? PS. I do not have a gluten intolerance but have been type1 since I was 9 years.

I don’t understand how your estimated A1c of 5.8 is calculated with an average blood sugar of 102. My last A1c was 5.5 but my average sugar level was 111. Do different labs use different calculations?

You are to be applauded for your high percentage in range with a lot smaller range to achieve it in. That requires a lot of dedication in making the best for your baby. I'm able to get in the mid to upper 90's and occasional 100% in range but I would need to change a lot to get it in the 70-140 range rather than the standard 70-180 range. You go Girl!!

Oh my goodness! My story is so similar to yours… Except my doctors weren’t smart enough to put me in the hospital, when I probably should’ve been… I too, experienced the terrible leg cramps and had never heard anyone else speak of those… Do you know what they are attributed to? Perhaps dehydration from the cells not being able to take nutrients? (from the high blood sugar and lack of insulin.?)

I was diagnosed as a young adult at 20, at the beginning of my junior year of college. It was really hard… I don’t remember a whole lot about my life before as it’s been almost 17 years since my diagnosis. Now at being almost 37, and ttc, and it not happening… I can’t help but wonder, could it have worked better was I not diabetic? Also I have no one in my family with it either and often feel misunderstood.

Samantha, how high was your BS at diagnosis? With how nice your bs usually are and the fact that you can eat some things w no insulin imo says you absolutely saved a bit of pancreatic function. 😊 I was 980 at diagnosis and it’s been a very wild ride!

I just started using the G7. Just like the G6, I use liquid Skin-Tac to attach my sensor. I put the liquid onto the sensor adhesive part, let it dry and then attach. A bottle of Skin-Tac is inexpensive on amazon and the bottle lasts for years. I literally have my bottle from 2019 and I still have 1/2 a bottle left.

Diagnosed 1/17/1985, just after my 17th birthday. Just had my 39th diaversary this year. While T1 isn't the worst thing someone can have (at least it is treatable), it is a very difficult condition. I do predictive modeling and statistics for a living - so you'd think I'd be better at carb counting, corrections, etc. Sometimes you do everything textbook perfect, and nothing goes right. So frustrating! Best of luck to your long-term health!

I could be wrong but from my understanding of carnivore , sure you’ll see significant benefits eating primarily fatty meats even though your still eating low levels of carbohydrate , BUT the magic really happens when you totally eliminate non essential, unhealthy insulin stimulating carbs…….

Disregarding the healthy food aspect, which one would assume should be common sense for everyone. Diabetics should not eat sugary foods, unless in hypoglycemia. It makes managing blood sugars much more difficult. Yes, you can manage them with insulin, if lucky. But why take the risk or trouble if not necessary. You can eat chocolate cake and pie for dessert at every meal. And live on pizza at every meal. But your blood sugars will be wild and erratic all of the time. Why do that?

There seems to be a whole lot of interest in spiking blood sugars. And that interest has evolved to include non-diabetics concerned with spiking blood sugars. Dexcom is coming out with a G1 sensor that seems to be aimed to those "health fanatical" people. If a non-diabetic eats an apple and sees a spike from 90 to 120, they consider it not healthy which is ridiculous. Whereas if I eat that apple I'll spike to 200. A working pancreas can handle it just fine. I don't understand these fanatics trying to fix something that isn't broke. The carb loading before a marathon is energy that getts stored in the liver and fat to be used during the race. Easy for a non-diabetic and way more difficult for a diabetic to accomplish and be in a reasonable range while doing it. I do agree with you that we have to decide what we should and can eat. And settle for being envious of those that can eat four crumb cookies without having to preplan ahead of time.
