    Im brand new with a dumb question. Should you have you finish already mixed before applying to your project. Is the wood fiber getting saturated with a different colors than you want?

    I thought they put veneer bec the wood under in not good quality isn't it?

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 5 місяців тому

      That is not necessarily true although the veneer is usually nice wood it doesn’t always mean the wood underneath is bad.

    ive been searching for days with this same issue on what product to use to fill the scratches bit you don't mention this or show this step. you said wood filler but there are a gazillion different ones. does it matter that your filling veneer with wood filler or should it be plastic wood filler. thanks a bunch

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 5 місяців тому

      Veneer is shaved wood and is usually quality wood, that’s why it’s shaved so it looks good and is more affordable. If you look in the description box below the video, I list all of the supplies that I use on each project. I use Plastic Wood-X for my wood filler, but make sure you wear a mask/ respirator while sanding because it does have silica sand in it, which is not healthy to breathe.

    But your not using the actually a MOD PODGE water base, sealer finish those look like Furniture 'TRANSFERS' press ons. Which I have used quite a few on my headboard that dont require to be "Decu Podged"

    Why would someone veneer over that wood! 😮

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 6 місяців тому

      There are many reasons for adding veneer. There is a misconception that veneer is cheap wood. In more cases than not in my experience the veneer is a very nice wood. Veneer is used to get a beautiful finish with a minimal cost because it’s shaved in thin slices from the tree instead of cut in heavy pieces.

    How long should you let the wax dry? Or when is the wax completely set?

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 6 місяців тому

      It depends on the brand, you should be able to find a time period on the label of the wax you’re using.

    Beautiful table. I’m about to remove stain from an antique tiger oak round pedestal table. It has some veneer that I need to glue down on repair. Once the table is retained, what is your recommendation on keeping it sealed without putting on polyurethane topcoat that could yellow I love the waxed look and being able to condition it with Howard’s products Thank you ❤

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 7 місяців тому

      There are many ways to “protect” the wood but polyurethane (in my opinion) is the only “permanent” way. Waxes and oils will wear off and will have to be applied over and over again.

    We have a problem where bleed through is not apparent until some time later (i.e. months). Has your coffee table remained free of bleed through? Do you attribute your success to the primer, the paint, or both? Thanks!

    I really don't know why veneer was invented! To me, it's cheap looking and ugly! I worked and refinished so many pieces of furniture and lifted veneer off gorgeous wood that it's unbelievable! Great job by the way! 😊❤

    • @furniturerecreated
      @furniturerecreated 10 місяців тому

      Thanks! Some veneers are really cheap but some are shaved pieces of very expensive woods that make it affordable but still beautiful. I don’t understand why there was a trend to cover up beautiful woods but not sure that happens anymore.
