week 1 update, lowtech aquascape, planted aquarium. #nature #aquarium #plantedtank
Your algae looks more like Cladophora than hair algae. I'm battling it in my 7 gal right now.
@wiscorails yes it definitely is cladophora, very short and bushy like. Not sure where it came from, I'm guessing the rock work or Java fern as it was reused. This may be a long term battle lol good luck to your fight as well this type is usually really hard to get rid of. In the past Co2 injection helped me alot but I kinda want to keep this tank low tech. Cheers
What light is being used now?
@vulcan1449 kessil A80 Tuna Sun, the former light was the 360x but was way to powerful for the tank. Kessils are great and provide good shimmer.
Do you happen to have a link to that original lily pipe?

@@SiliconvalleyScapes thank you!!
Love the tank
@@Chalkie-xt1dr thank you! I'm very excited to see it mature more!
It would be amazing if you removed that rainbow fish and added 2-3 more Neon tetras. A few cherry shrimp would look amazing as well. The tank would look so much more lively. Just be careful as not to overstock it. Otherwise, I must say it's quite a beautiful scape.
@joshnarheabhargavan8906 thank you, I know I really need to set up the 90p so I can move them to a large volume! Hopefully very soon just need a few more pieces of equipment!
hello from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I'm delighted to support yours. the new pipes are much better. i used to go to Aqua Forrest all the time when I lived in Marin!
@LushSaltyAquariums that is a great little shop there! I love how they are an ADA distributor as well so anyone in the US can get supplies!
I can still see algae and all it is gonna do is just grow back within a week
Why the rainbows though? They a long long tank.
I just moved and my 50 gallons is not set up yet so this is their temporary home, will move them out!
@@SiliconvalleyScapes Oohh I see thats very nice!
Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I'm happy to support yours :) Nice, classic aquascape you have going. I'm glad you're ultimately moving the Rainbows to a bigger tank. After doing so, there are countless lovely and appropriate nano fish you can put in this set up - Good luck!
I'm a huge praecox rainbows fan. I had 7 females and 3 males in my 55g, but I found 8 dead one morning. They're very susceptible to mycobacteriosis. No other species of fish in the tank were affected and the water test was perfect. I ran 2 seachem tidal 110s packed with biomedia and it was established for a year.
Great aquascaping
Ha!! Just saw a comment from Stefan at Lush and Salty. He helped me a lot, and he's so talented. His tanks are top notch
I think it's gorgeous 😍. You should have way more subscribers, but you just got one more from me. It took me several months to get up to 300, but I had to give away my tanks/stock because I'm moving soon. I expect your channel to grow very fast. Great job!
Thank you! Hopefully after you move you can set up some more tanks, I'm setting up my 90p soon again I just moved a few weeks back haha
water parameters?
I'll test again this weekend and let you know!
WT: 22 C° PH 6.8 KG 85 GH 110 N02 - 0 N03 - 25 ppm TDS : 217 ppm
@@SiliconvalleyScapes Hey there thanks for that 🙏
@TheSunIsMyDestroyer no worries, I really need to get my KH down to like 20ppm it will really help the plant growth especially since I'm not running co2. May star diluting the tap water with 50% RO
He is just stunning bro......
this has co2 doesn't it? low tech means no co2 not that there isn't a lot of tech in it lol
No that is a twin star , no CO2 injection no dosing either. Just Excell
Cleaning house!
that is not lowtech
There’s no co2, that u see there is not a co2 diffuser, it’s a product that allegedly controls algae by electrolysis
The bubbles are not Co2, it's a twinstar, also not dosing firts
Looks beautiful, im debating getting a tiger lotus
Do it!
I live in San Jose where could I buy this? How steep is the learning curve?
The learning curve is not to bad, check out Neptune Aquatics off of 5th and Commerial. They sell UNS tanks as well as kessel lighting. They have a pretty good selection of fish too. Plants I would recommend getting tissue culture plants! Just make sure you do a little research, let me know if that's helpful!
@@SiliconvalleyScapes thank you how much would something like this cost?
@tinosmo1 the tank is probably about 140, substrate (aqua soil) 30, hardscape 40, and plants 80 to 100 ( you can do cheaper or more depending on plant type and volume of planting). Filter heater can varry alot, I would recommend and all in one like Osae about 110. Kessel lighting is super expensive the light on this tank is over kill around 500 with everything. But you can get a cheaper one for around 50 that will be sufficient! If you do a bare bones set up for under 250 you can make it work and still look.nice! Around the 10 gallon size, if you size down the tank you can get the cost down more
@@SiliconvalleyScapes wow this is way cheaper then I figured
Interesting Molly. love the yellow trim on its caudal fin!
Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago, where I just subscribed to yours! Definitely put some amano shrimp and otos in there to help with the algae.
Hey there...I subbed as well then saw your comment. I guess our feeds are similar. Hope all is well
How is this a low tech setup? You are running Co2 and what looks like a canister filter...and running a ton of chem. Its a good setup, but its the opposite of low tech. I am at a loss for what you could even add as more tech for a setup this size. Again, good tank, good scape, but definitely not low tech at all.
Low tech meaning no Co2 injection and no dosing. Only using Excell and ADA substrate system. I don't have any Co2 injection in this setup. The white thing in the corner is a twinstar for algee control. Thanks for the input!
@@SiliconvalleyScapes Fair enough. The air stone by the canister filter in/out looked like a CO2 stone. My bad. I guess for me when I hear low-tech I think no tech. Maybe it's just a definitional difference. Again, it's a quality tank
This is the closest I could find to a definition of what makes a low tech tank: "A low tech planted tank is an aquarium setup that leans on the minimal side in terms of equipment. They typically lack powerful lighting, CO2 injection, and advanced filtration. The emphasis here is on ease and natural balance."
Feel sorry for them rainbow fish, no where near enough room for them😢
I know I just moved and my 50 gallon isn't set up yet, I will be moving them out soon!
Beautiful tank!
tank size? name of the big fish? thanks
It's approximately 11 gallons, the bigger fish are neon rainbows, they will be moving to larger tank soon!
@@SiliconvalleyScapes that tanks surprisingly looks bigger than 11 maybe the way it was scaped. And the neon rainbows do they get too big or can they stay in that tank?
@TheSunIsMyDestroyer Yes the dimensions are taller which gives it a larger appearance. The Rainbows are fully grown I've had then for about 3 years but they were previously in a larger set up, I'll be moving them out soon so they can have more space
Only been in the hobby a few months but from what I've learned, your tank may nearly be fully stocked. I'd suggest a few more neon tetras, apparently they prefer to be in groups of 5 or more, and a cory catfish for waste cleanup. They only get a few inches long at their biggest. But that's just what I've read, I'm not pretending to actually know anything. Beautiful tank and scaping though!
Corys dont do waste cleanup...
@@SMac89 I suppose I should have specified "food waste" but thanks for being so quick to try and correct me.
Thank you, I will be moving the rainbows out before I stock more fish, it's approximately 11 gallons so I should be fine with about 6 to 8 Terras and maybe 2 otos for algee control, shrimp have super low bio load so not too worried about it!
@@SiliconvalleyScapes that sounds like it will be great! Looking forward to seeing it.
Why do you talk like a drunk robot??😂😂😂😂
Just ordered this tank with matching stand! How is it holding up? Lovely setup btw ❤
Unfortunately i had to take that tank for down for a short time while i moved it, going to set it up soon! Hopefully within the next month
If those are your tanks, good work ❤
Preciosooo
Beautiful 👍😃
