Radio Iodine at The Galaxy 11/22/95 "Never Meant To"
Переглядів 6 тис.14 років тому
From the cable access show "Velocity". Radio Iodine live at the Galaxy in St. Louis on November 22, 1995 playing "Never Meant To". The song changed slightly for their major-label debut "Tiny Warnings" released about a year and a half later. Ellen Bledsoe-lead vox, Tony Persyn-bass, Tom Bramer-guitar, Anna DiPiazza-keys/vox, Steve Held-drums.
Here in 2024 after listening to my Point Essential Vol 2 CD.
ANODYNE was their fourth album
The lap steel is deafeningly out of tune .
A little more country-ish Replacements.
Is this the sound engineer’s fault or do they just suck? Oh yeah and someone’s guitar needs tuning
Pretty darn good performance for a band that were splitting up acrimoniously at the time.
Sober Jeff is the best jeff
Wow!😍
Wow
Youth dictates a lot of turns in your life and career. Here its...I've done this song in the studio and live a hundred times now, so I'm going to hit everything differential on vocals.
The 90s in Metroeast StL area were pretty fkg cool when i look back.
Chiming in with a few relevant quips: The Heidorns were my neighbors, on Anna Ln. in Swansea, IL and I was friends with Suzie Heidorn, Mike Heidorn's little sister. For those who don't know, Mike was the Orig Drummer for UT. I got to sit in on quite a few rehearsals in the mid 80s when I was about 7-11, in the Heidorn's basement while Suzie and I ate a stupid amount of popcicles. Anodyne came out when I was about to graduate from Belleville West. Saw the original UT only once at Mississippi Nights in '90. They were great. I also got to interview Jay about 20 years ago when Son Volt released 'Okemah and the Melody of Riot.' I stan hard for my Belleville boys
that's was music
Nice Work! WooF!
Terrrible sound mixing.
this sucks
I disagree and posit a new theory: you suck.
What a great performance.
Seems to me that people are looking at this band with rose tinted sunglasses. Wilco is a far more emotional, interesting, experimental, engaing and musical experience than Uncle Tupelo and everyone in the world agrees apart from Uncle Tupelo fans. Wilco has a suprior drummer, literally the most genius guitarist I've ever found, two brilliant multi-instrumentalists and covers just about every guitar-centric US genre. Uncle Tupelo were great, genius at times, but Wilco is on another level. Open up to allow yourself to enjoy their music instead of harping on about some band's infighting of which the details you know nothing of.
noise
That kid is showing those drums no mercy. It reminds me of John Bonham.
Boston took me by surprise. I had them pegged for southern California.
Got my toast and tea and I'm warming... Cute!
It looks like the cool kids let the nerd join the band because he was the only kid in school that played bass.
Man, hard to believe this was almost 10 years ago. Time flies!
My pager's going off!
This is way older than 10 years ago, dumbass.
That’s funny, I never realized that Jay Bennet and Ken Coomer looked so much a like. Ken Coomer is way taller then Jay Bennet was, look at the promo poster for Mermaid Avenue. Jay Bennet is like Jeff Tweedy’s size. That’s a funny comparison though.
Is it me or did the Conan show sound guy have her mic extra low ?? I could not hear almost anything she sang.
I never understood why this band wasn't huge. Every song on the Tiny Warnings album is fantastic. I can only think it was lack of good promotion or sumpin like that. I still listen tho this album regularly.
Dude....same!
I will NEVER forget seeing her at Mississippi Nights!!! 😊
Awesome... This was at the tailend of the new wave era. A real treat to us who grew up in that decade. God bless
GREAT song!!!!! It didn't get the respect it deserved....this is the classic late 80's pop song.....
💯that is my favorite performance. To me that is real and awesome 😎❤️❣️
You can see the look on Jeff's face. He realized he really made it big doing what he loves.
One of the first things I noticed in this clip. Almost like he was trying to hold back a full-blown smile
Meanwhile jay was pissed off they weren't singing his song and he looks pissed off here
I can't believe it's Jeff singing on national tv. This must have been burning Jay alive inside.
It did burn him up. The record label chose the song, not the band. But at this point, Jay already had one foot and a few toes out the door anyway.
Jay did look pissed in this video
@@michaelskurski912 When doesn't he?
Excellent
jay Oliver is a musical genius
what a song and band...grew up with them...
Grunge era of Jay and Jeff
Such a good band!!!!
I read their label requested they play a Tweedy cut,
Cool
Conan got the name of the album wrong...it's Aurora Gory Alice
Awesome! Hard to believe it's been 30 years since I first saw these guys at Lounge Ax in Chicago. Long live UT.
You know, really, as great as UT was, can't we appreciate that we got two great bands out of the breakout? And frankly, UT was unsustainable with two leading men, and really what else can be said beyond that? I mean other than that I'm just joshing you guys Wilco is way better than Son Volt get outta here with your lukewarm both-sides horsehockey
Great song, times that will not return 😕
Me quede atrapado en los 90´s y ahi me quiero quedar, que se jodan los 2000´s
Man, I miss this band!
Thank you for this video. As a lover of music, down right, heartfelt, true to the soul, music there are few albums that fall into this section of my music library. PM. the same PM that Apple Music has no clue about, all I get is PM Dawn. My set adrift on memory bliss is remembering a time in my past, listening and singing this album in my Dads studio./ Mobile DJ room in the basement. I still have the original cd, cassette, And album. The cd is one that no one borrows or plays except me. And the tape is still in shrink wrap. What I want is a new reissued cd.
Proeyebry. PM is finally on Apple Music!!!
Still a SUPERB cut Pete Mayer...and YES...I still remember when you played it here in old St Lou!
OMG vintage Stacy Jones ! Why is nobody saying anything about him? American Hi Fi anyone?
The 90s ruled!
the BEST!! I grew up studying music-guitar/vocals watching Peter and the guys....so inspiring.
