The Road not Taken
Billings West High Meistersingers perform The Road not Taken, based on Robert Frost's famous poem.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Billings West High Meistersingers performing Z. Randall Stroope's masterpiece: Omnia Sol. Somewhere far from nowhere, I grew both strong and tall Longing to become, but knowing not the path at all! But the footprints of the winter melted to fields of spring; One last embrace before I cross the threshold: To life we sing! O stay your soul and leave my heart its song! O stay your hand; the journe...

My senior year of HS in 2014, my dad lost his battle to cancer. In his final months, we had worked on this song in choir. He knew the director well, so the day of his memorial service a bus was loaded up at school and the choir came to sing around us. This was one of the songs.
Omg i did this too!!
O who will come and go with me? I am bound for the Promised Land!! We sing this song often in our Old Harp group here in East TN…
That was Bueatiful!
This song is very touchy! I can’t wait to sing it in my graduation🥰🥰🥰🥰
Learning this song in my bass choir class, it's the Tenor Baritone Bass version but it's still an awesome piece.
This is the graduation song for Hauppauge Eagles. I graduated in 2018 and will never forget when I sang this how nice it felt to say goodbye to all my friends and have a Mini Concert for the last time. Whenever I hear this it send shivers down my spine.
Thanks so much this is helpful
5 years later I’m still playing this and singing along. So beautiful.
We’re singing this song in Choir and that High Ab at the end makes me want to shoot myself 3:50, “And Sor-“ is so upsetting to my voice to sing. I was put into the soprano group despite being a clear cut alto and my voice is not happy with it.
Amazing song , my gretting from chile !
Well sung.
Una melodía irresistible, saludos desde chile
I love this song
Great arrangement for a youth choir!
I sing this song for my choir in Singapore. It is a very smooth song
Hi!Beautiful!!!
My choir sings this every year as a send off to seniors and everyone cries, I can't wait to hear it as my send off this year
We are singing this in choir this year and I am a Soprano 2 but since most of the sopranos sing together we have to go really high and I'm not sure if I can do it😂
I'm 30 and I sung this in high school. My son is now in middle school and has started chorus ! I about just cried listening to this with him😭🤣😭🤣😭💀 this was THE BEST SONG we did and WEEP NO MORE was my FAVORITES !! out of school for the rest of the year and only saw my son in one concert so far but I cant wait til next yr. My last yr in high school I was in chorus 1st period and concert choir 2nd.. I was in both! And was carrying him 🥰‼ now hes 12 and I'm 30 this song just brung back so many memories. And I'm a cry baby 🥵😩😭🥰
we sang this in 7th grade
I'm singing this song in my next choir performance but not with the tenor and bass
We sang this for the seniors at my chorus concert last night. It was so emotional because I’ll miss them all
Beautifully done. Great job, everyone.
My Middle school choir and I are singing this song this year
Singing this for comp
This doesn’t exactly sound like the original song from ‚How the West was Won‘ (1962).
Is that a joke? This is an old hymn from the early 1800s. They didn't take it from a Hollywood film.
0:29 is that Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione ?
About to sing this for my senior awards. I love it
I sang this in symphonic school as a girls ensemble.
We're singing this for MPA tomorrow!
There's no emotion to their faces I'm 12 and I'm doing this song ....with a lot more emotion
There is in the girls toward the end. They seem to have gotten it, which is a rare thing in people so young. As for you, you may think you're doing it with more emotion, but believe me, when you are much older you'll understand it more. I don't know how much tragedy of separation you've had in your life, but you have a lot more to come. That's not something to get depressed about; it will make you a stronger, deeper, more interesting person. And when you're fifty or so, listen to the song again, and feel.
We learning this in middle school
Somewhere far from nowhere, I grew both strong and tall… Longing to become, but knowing not the path at all! But the footprints of the winter melted to fields of spring; One last embrace before I cross the threshold: To life we sing! O stay your soul and leave my heart its song! O stay your hand; the journey may be long! And when we part, and sorrow can't be sway'd…. Remember when, and let your heart be staid. Omnia sol temperat, Absens in remota. Ama me fideliter, Fidem mean noto. Weave the dance and raise the ; grieve no more… Through the strength of Orion, find refuge from the shore! Let courage be your oar, let passion be your sail; Wisdom and truth will guide your deep heart's yearning, though all travail! O stay your soul and leave my heart its song! O stay your hand; the journey may be long! And when we part, and sorrow can't be sway'd… Remember when, and let your heart be staid. Omnia sol temperat, Absens in remota. Ama me fideliter, Fidem mean noto. Omnia sol temperat, And when we part, and sorrow can't be sway'd… Remember when… Remember when… And let your heart be staid… Be staid.
Could those kids show a little emotion?
I’m in the 7th grade and singing this for a region choir that I made in to.
We sing this every year as a farewell for choir and I can't believe that this time I'll be the one graduating
anyone else notice the random guy laughing at 2:29?
This is a different arrangement than what I'm singing in my choir right now - our music is a men-only piece. Fortunately, this means the basses, myself included, get to sing the coolest parts. :)
Last year when I was a freshman we had to sing this at our final concert and my friend couldn't make it through the song😭😭
At my high school we sing this every year at our last concert and we have all seniors stand in front and hold hands..... im a senior, imma cry
Doing this song for mpa
chi ha messo dislike non capisce l' arte!!
la adoro la amo

Io la cantò in un coro!!!!
I'm graduating from high school this year, and I'll be singing this song at the Spring Concert in May, which, unless you count Senior Salute, will be my final concert.
this song is so beautiful. doing it for concert coming in march. can't wait. best part is that every harmony sounds like could be its own melody. every part sounds so nice

I remember singing this in my honor choir back in 2008 and 2010. I was a tenor 2 and my goodness this brings back so many memories. Makes me cry still
