given what I took from show, havent read comics or other books and I have no idea even how they should be considered for canon, since many things seem so different there from show at times, I would say Celestia, Luna and Cadence got "power up" to become alicorns similarly as Twilight got it, this thing would be either natural thing that can occur or something Starswirl or other mage set up, in theater episode with Celestia is told that Starswirl just found two ponies who dont get drained by moving sun, nothing about them being alicorns, it was like random lucky find on sacrificial altar that two ponies were unaffected by that, if there were some alicorns from some Skyros place (as G5 tells), I assume that would be reason to try those out and not just finding them by chance (so yes, headcanon of mine is that Skyros story is made up by Opaline, as there I have more than one issue wiht it), power up to alicornhood may be permanent or temporal as we seen, even when drained of magic, princesses kept wings and horns while Cozy Glow lost them or gained based on her power level, which may be either that her transformation was different thing or just it was for so short time so she havent got fully established as one on biological loevel and her horn was purely magical construct, kinda similar to Sunny in G5 with holographic wings and horn, only alicorn born would be Flurry, yes, it was tolt that it was first one born in Equestria, but also was told they have no idea how it could happen, and it is quite apparent, Celestia nor Luna had foals and Cadence is first alicorn who went with getting one, so that is one of reasons whole alicorn land from G5 dont work, if it did, I guess it would be not as surprising that alicorn was born to Celestia and Luna (unless alicorns there never got born but just manifested of nothing because quantum physics technically may allow that or something), also whole G5 alicorn origin falls apart as it makes both Celestia and Luna assholes and idiots to be mean to other alicorn that threatened world then and they never bothered to even tell there is whole alicorn land and just came to be gods to ponies, so G5 story of alicorns is made up and it is only way I can see any sense in that (and would fit in Opalines character too, canonically she lied about events to Misty and it was revealed so we have no reason to believe any her words), it is that or G5 isnt canon continuation for G4, despite G4 events are canon to G5 apparently to some degree

Technically, I think what Celestia meant was _equestria_ hadn’t seen a natural alicorn birth before since she and Luna were born/came into being/however they were created before equestria itself was established

This was a fun deep dive into Morty ^^ I can see why you love his character ^^ I haven't played the Johto games but I have seen the anime episodes he was in ^^ I agree that he was a bit prideful in his first appearances but when Ash beat him and told him about Suicune and Ho-Oh he became more respectful to others ^^ Great video as always ^^
