Great job so far! Keep up with the video updates. Are you going to keep dodging the question on where you got the Kit from? Share if you want to, but be upfront if you dont. I would love to know where I could source a kit.
thank you! i tell you what, I’ll sell you my shell if you’re ready to buy.
Even though its tempting. I dont even want to ask the price. I prefer you finish the project. The feeling of accomplishment will be worth all the sweat and tears. You mentioned you have bought 2 kits. You were not happy with the first one. You can help others avoid making a mistake.
The 240Z next to it is even nicer!
That music is awesome to work to! 🔥🔥
@@ArmandoLopez-mr8en let’s GO!!!
How strong is the exterior?
@@CalebHutchins plenty strong once supported.
That looks really great. How real does it look to the real thing up close in person?
@@CalebHutchins alone. Looks real. Side by side. You might be able to pick it apart if of it’s not a classic finish.
@@CalebHutchins I would be proud to own it. Next to a real one, you will pick up the differences. People are extremely generous with compliments when they realize it a kit.
wow that car is beautiful. Hopefully yours will be too
Hi ,where can i buy a body too..? Or you made it?
Is that music copyrighted? Can barely hear you with that shit playing
@@paulwalker427 noted. lol. What music do you suggest?
Bro you shouldn't cut that much
This is the preliminary cutting, It will all be reinforced once the shell is in final position
Looking really good boss! Keep up the great work! 😎👍
Thank you!
nice work so far my friend Im still waiting for the front and the back mesurments thanks, take care
Sorry. Trying to get someone to help my with editing a video and adding the still pics
hey my friend I want to ask you please what is the length of the front and the back of gullwing I mean the length between the windshield and the headlights I need thoes information for my gullwing project
@@redaabdula3081 good question. I have some cool dimension pictures. I’ll have someone put together an album.
thank you, how can you share it
Get ready for a letter or two and some lawyer visits from Mercedes. They frown on gullwing replicas.
The algorithm lead me here and I’m staying to follow this build. 600+ subscribers but in two years it will be 1.2 million subscribers bookmark this. I called it first!
@@LegitCheckers let’s do it!!!! Thank you #600
Great to see you getting back on track! Look forward to more regular updates
Thank you
I'm also doing . I m going to put 2011 350 AMG
Right in! Where are you?
Where do you get a shell for the replica
Sorry. I’m not in that business. Where are you?
Yes!!! Because if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! Great to have you back boss! 👍
What’s your plan for rear glass and front bumper grill? Heard those pieces can be pretty pricey
@@reasonsunknown6707 glass can be purchased from Mercedes or the UK. Shipping isn’t cheap. Bumpers and grill are being reproduced in Taiwan. Reasonably priced
@socalgullwing Thanks for the info , I’ll be pulling the trigger on this build soon . Would you be interested in making any molds of your body?
Where did you get the shell and all the ancillary parts ??
@@liketheterminatortoldya7297 the shell is from the EU. The one’s from Mexico are ok, cheaper and easier to get, but will require more prep work to get them to look good. Parts all over, no one stop shop.
@@SoCalGullwing any website I can look up to find the shell
how much money do you expect to put into this project. Looks great
I don’t want to discuss cost. But the elbow grease is free. The good shell is pricey. An AMG is market 8-10k. The reproduction parts “the finishes” will run up your cost. And last. Paint and interior l. Doing a restomod will definitely cut the cost down
@@SoCalGullwing How detailed will you make the interior
@@CalebHutchins working towards an original look. Shooting for the moon :)
@@SoCalGullwing Sounds like its gonna be great., those classic interiors on the gullwings is timeless. It certainly does look crazy with all those dials and buttons. Such a unique car.
Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you
@@J_________________________K thanks man
Hi, your explanation of the car is really detailed, do you want to review Atoto's car stereo?
Cool, looking forward to seeing how you do it! Great series, keep up the good work!
Looking good, but you just gotta keep that front piece as I think you'll get too much body flex without it!😁
@@pan-amfencing2024 this the preeminently assessment. If it comes out, or moved, it will be reinforced at the end once all the subsystems ie. Radiator, expansion tank, condenser, horns etc are located permanently.
you absolutely cannot use the body as a stressed member with that substructure. It just won't weld ok--even if nobody sees it.
Not following, please retype
Hey it’s probably been asked but who did you get the body from? New subscriber from Virginia
Where did you buy the body?
Is this ok with mercedes ? I have read they have destroy one replica. Cause they dont agree someone make it....
Hey Boss! I know you're probably really busy, but sure would like an update on what you've done on the Gullwing!
@@pan-amfencing2024 thanks for asking. I’ll put something together this week.
What car is this ?
Who dod you source the gullwing body from sir
Did
Nice job Rex!!
Thank you. I’m pleased.
Is there a warning light on your dash that says your convertible top is open? I plan to use my existing dash on build. I am still waiting on my body to arrive, however, I am getting the service work done like breaks, engine etc.
@@kelbej1 I’m not aware of a light. Good luck with your build. Where are you?
Georgia
@@kelbej1 not on the dash. Not an issue, at least not one i have seen.
are you going to keep the interior the way it is or try to make it look original
Going for the original look
@@SoCalGullwingThe only thing that I don't care for is the original steering wheel.
Hi. I subscribed to your channel. Wish you good luck. You are making of my dream. Where did you find a body of 300sl?
Wow, looks like you've already really put some thought into this! I'd make it removable just in case of any mods or repairs down the road, thanks!
Leaning towards that.
Every 100 lb you take off of her should be about 20 more horsepower.... But most people adds more steel reinforcing weigh ,than what they cut out....
Looking forward to build journey!!! Thank you for sharing - NEW SUB 🙏🏻
Welcome! And thank you for following. Feel free to jump in and ask or add.
wow, i love this stage, I got to finish a Jag e-type on a mazda rotary chassis, it's a big joy to do this stuff, thanks for sharing! keep it up
Totally.
E type is on the list
@@SoCalGullwing i was on a test run, one of my first, so exciting, going down the onramp, when i heard something pulled over to check it and a interested passerby stopped to admire said i love the sound of the jag engines!! i didn't tell him it was a rotary, but it shows how much our intentions affect our perceptions, right!
Getting it to this point isn’t too challenging. Making the finish look good is what’s time consuming.
So what's up? Are you gonna show any more videos on this?
@@pan-amfencing2024 I’ll put one together by Friday. Thanks for asking
@@SoCalGullwing Great, thanks Rex! And can you please try to show how and where the body connects to the chassis if not in the next one maybe a future one?
@@pan-amfencing2024 I’m still trying to work that out. I have 3 members. The chassis the tube frame and the shell. The tube frame gets welded to the chassis. Then, I’ll have 2 options. Bond the shell permanently to the tube, or fabricate 4 to 10 mounting point and make it removable. Haven’t decided yet. Thoughts
Wow! Off to a good start Rex. Looking forward to updates!
How did you get the dimensions for the fiberglass body
I didn’t make it.
Is that a Mercedes 300 SL replica?
Yes
Where did you buy the replica body?
