    Besides the blade and awl, there is even third tool, which is beefier version than found in red Celedor line SAK's, namely the flathead screwdriver/cap lifter.

    I like the toolset here, especially for the pliers… but I don’t know how it can justify calling itself “the Handyman” without a proper phillips head screwdriver 🤷🏻‍♂️ but if it did have one, it would basically be a SwissChamp, just missing the fish scaler… but I wish they had more options, like perhaps one with the new package opener in place of the can opener for more urban usage, the fish scaler in place of the saw for fishing, etc.

    • @ethanmoua49
      @ethanmoua49 3 місяці тому

      It has a flat head screwdriver, and as you may know, a flat head can unscrew a phillips head screw, but a phillips head screwdriver can never unscrew a flat head.

    • @Sam_T2000
      @Sam_T2000 3 місяці тому

      @@ethanmoua49 - but I wouldn’t want to remove any of the flatheads… the flathead on the can/package opener works decently well on phillips head screws, but I still prefer the in-line phillips driver to any alternatives currently available on the classic Victorinox SAKs.

    The hook on the back is referred to as the multi purpose hook. At least that's what I like calling it. Because it has multiple uses with it. I personally like having two models with me with hooks on the back of both. But that's just me. As I always say,"To each their own"!

    May I suggest including the Victorinox EVOLUTION S17 GRIP in your comparison. The knife is slightly shorter (88mm vs 91mm )and not as robust as the alox version, but it offers a locking blade. Unfortunately it also lacks the pin and cannot be upgraded to plus scales... Victorinox seem determined not to build the perfect EDC SAK.

  • @deadmanrunning6670

    That's a nice knife for someone who wants a sensible EDC tool kit without going the multi-tool route. “Armored Huntsman” good description, my first knife was a1973 Huntsman. Before they finally brought out the Farmer X I was looking for a good modder to create one. But like they say be careful what you wish for, now I have to choose which one to carry. They both have there advantages. I recently got some alox replacement plus scales for a Huntsman to make it more durable. By the way have you compared the the cap lifter screwdriver on the two knives ?

      @@AbuHajarAlBugatti Yes the Farmer X is definitely stronger built and the awl is a better design. With the Huntsman you get a few more tools and i believe it’s lighter weight, if weight is a concern. I like the emergency fire kit they make for the corkscrew.

    I use the Huntsman a lot. I changed the scales to yellow hi-vis Plus scales. Thanks to Felix Immler on UA-cam I made a second pinhole for a sewing needle and opened up the channel opposite end to the tweezers. I put a small toothpick in here and used the old toothpick hole for a Firefly ferro rod. I use the corkscrew to hold tinder and glasses screwdriver.

    You might want to include some kind of small, mini compass 🧭that you could squeeze somewhere in your altoids tin survival kit because navigation is extremely important. You might find yourself in a survival scenario when your hiking out in the middle of nowhere and, depending on the circumstances, it may be better for you to try to find help before help finds you.

    Great video, one question, I currently use a Hiker, but I want to upgrade. So I'm trying to decide between the Handyman or Huntsman, and I'm not sure if the handyman is too big, or heavy for EDC in the front pockets. Any thoughts since you have both?

    • @typicalchris5153
      @typicalchris5153 8 місяців тому

      So it depends, if you’re more of the minimalist and you want just your basic needs when you’re out doing your daily things I’d go for the huntsman because it’s light and simple and feels pretty sturdy in the palm of your hand! But if you’re like me (Maximalist), and you want something that packs a punch when you’re out and about i’d go with the handyman, it’s basically a mini tool kit in your pocket and you’ll find a use for almost all of its components! I’ve put it in my pocket a couple times and I hardly feel the weight but I don’t know everybody is different! 🤷‍♂️😂 great question my friend appreciate you asking! 😎👍

    Yeah, I, too, chose the handyman because the other tools on the champ aren't that useful to me (even that phillips screwdriver, the can opener or end of the saw usually work just fine). That file/saw is made for metal, although I wouldn't use it for hardened steel. Some people think the pliers are useless because they're not as beefy as a Leatherman, but I really like them. If I need heavy duty pliers, I'll have pliers or a larger multitool with me. Those pliers are precision! You can pull individual hairs with them, they make the tweezers redundant. As a result, I sharpened the tweezers so I have pointed tweezers to dig out a splinter if I need to. The little notches on the plier handles are for crimping. Also, you didn't mention the hole for a straight pin (also not included) in the red plastic by the base of the corkscrew. I wish it came with the corkscrew mini screwdriver. The chisel is, in my opinion, the most useless tool on this knife, mainly because of it's placement. Some don't like the awl, but I won't have a multitool without one.
