Couch Potato Jam 11
My entry into Anthony Couch's Couch Potato Jam 11.
I used my 21 year old Ibanez JEM 7V with the standard Evolution pickups through a Dunlop 96Q Wah pedal. I recorded it directly via a Focusrite Solo interface into a PC running the Neural DSP Mesa MK IIC+ plugin in Reaper.
Thanks to Anthony for organising the jam and the rest of the community for making it so much fun!

My entry into Couch Potato Jam 10 on Anthony Couch's channel. Thanks again to Anthony for running this! It's so much fun to enter and it's really nice to be part of our little guitar community. The gear used is my 2009 Ibanez RG1550M Poisoned Pumpkin recorded directly via a Focusrite Solo interface into Reaper, then run through the Neural DSP Mesa MK IIC plugin. #couchpotatojam10
Ibanez RG2610E Prestige

My Ibanez RG2610E Prestige. This is a rare and beautiful Ibanez made in Japan in 2007. It's also my favourite guitar and the best guitar I have ever played. The unique thing about this guitar is the single Seymour Duncan Full Shred pickup. It's very unusual for any Ibanez to make a one pickup guitar, especially a Prestige model. The fact that it has no pick guard or neck pickup route makes this...

My 2007 Ibanez MTM2 Mick Thompson signature guitar. This is a unique Ibanez RG in a number of ways. The main one being the fixed locking bridge, but it also has a painted neck, mahogany body and reverse headstock. #ibanez #guitar #rg #ibanezrg #slipknot #mickthomson #metal #heavymetal

My entry into Couch Potato Jam 9 on Anthony Couch's channel. Thanks Anthony! I look forward to seeing everyone's entries and hope you have as much fun as I did making this! #couchpotatojam9 All guitars and bass were tuned to drop D and recorded directly into my Focusrite Solo audio interface. The tones are a combination of the Neural DSP Mesa Mark IIC , Fortin Nameless, and Parallax bass suites...

I have been taking guitar lessons with Anthony Couch (www.youtube.com/@ACMusic). This is my homework for this week. I had a go at generating an AI video using a bit of software called "Video Killed The Radio Star". Some notes on the song: Chord 5 in a minor key is interchangeable between major and minor, giving it a harmonic minor feel. This song is in the key of B minor. In the first part of t...

Here is a quick video of my Ibanez RG565-VK in Vampire Kiss finish from their Made-in-Japan Genesis range. There are not many videos of these on UA-cam. There was a limited run of 50 of these in the US in 2021, but in 2022 they did some for the rest of the world. This is a 2022 UK model. The guitar parts in the video soundtrack are all recorded with this guitar.

This is my entry into Couch Potato Jam 6 for Anthony Couch's channel. This was actually the first take just to check the camera and stuff, but I enjoyed it so much I decided to submit it! Thanks a lot for doing this Anthony, you have such as great community and these are always loads of fun! #couchpotatojam6

I love Anthony Couch's channel, but this is my first time entering one of his Couch Potato Jams. I could not put it off any longer! It's just a quick video with camera audio, but better than nothing. #couchpotatojam5 is in the style of "Lo-Fi", whatever that is. The good news is that it's in E Minor, which I am pretty familiar with ;-) Bad news is, it's the slowest tempo imaginable, so is actua...

Wooooow 🆒🆒🆒🆒🆒🆒🆒🆒🎸
Well done man! really beautiful axe.
Great Alestorm shirt!
Cheers, I went to see them last month in Manchester and they were awesome. They are great musicians and their concerts are so much fun. Mate Bodor can really shred.
@@GarryParker I haven’t seen them in years but they are so much fun!
Went for the blues inspired jam I see - great job and a gorgeous instrument!
Cheers. It's fun to vent a bit of Jimmy Page 😁
Wow fantastic sounds and guitar
Cheers, mate!
Very nice Garry! Love the wahh ! 🎸😎👍
Hell yeah Garry, stellar jam man 😃🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cheers mate!
awesome work!!!
Cheers mate!
I'm genuinely amazed-bravo!
Cheers mate!!!
That was awesome man, getting around the neck very nicely. Love the tone and your axe, letting the note sustain just beyond the backing track was a lovely punctuation mark 🤘🤘
Cheers mate. It certainly an "in your face" tone!
Awesome playing man! Love the Wah! Thats a beautiful guitar too!
Cheers mate!
Absolutely killer, man!! Nice Gem, too. Definitely feel the Steve Vai shredding vibes ❤🤟😎
I wish! haha
@GarryParker you may not think so... but I can hear it and see it in your playing. It's a lot like a fingerprint. you can't deny your DNA. All fingerprints are individually unique lol 😆
Awesome performance man!
very nice!! cool solo!
Another Ibanez player, I like the mustard colour on that one. Great job!
Thanks! Ibanez calls it Poisoned Pumpkin. It took me a while to find one.
@@GarryParker Cool, I don't think I've ever come across one with that colour!
Very cool playing & sound! Cool open string playing as well 😎🎸👍
Thanks mate. Yeah, I like the open string stuff because it's a lot easier than it looks!
That was cool. Good stuff man!!
Thanks a lot!
Great work Garry, that was awesome man 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sweet piece right there man!🔥
Thanks a lot!
Awesome!
Thanks a lot!
great stuff, love the video effect too
Thanks mate. The video effects are the easy part, haha.
I noticed most videos are 38 seconds or so. Is that the time frame for #10?
Yes, the backing track is a lot shorter, just 4 repeats of the chord progression, so we need to keep it concise. Only 38 seconds to shine! I think Antony was worried about his review video getting too long.
The reason was also to make room for as many entries as possible 👏😊
Fantastic performance 👏 definitely had some Iron Maiden vibes 🙌
Thanks mate. Adrian Smith is a big influence on me so that's a nice compliment 🤘
Great playing. Love the double stop bends and that pedal lick on the E string.
Cheers mate. I'm not at your level, but I still have fun 🤘
So nice 🤟☺
Thank you!
Can you name the techniques that you're using? Is there some staccato? (Noob here 🙈)
@@kreavix sure! Happy to help. The first section is just single notes but they follow the backing track, E,C,G,D,B. I do a half step bend up to the C note (from 1 fret below), a technique which I stole from Marty Friedman. He uses that trick a lot. The second part is some fast pentatonic stuff. Look for Anthony's video "that lick Kirk Hammett uses all the time" for a start on that one - it's all about the picking. The third part is called "double stop" bends. You basically play two strings at once and either bend them both or just one to create a really nice dissonance, especially with distortion. The last part is just hammering on and pulling off with one finger on the high E string, moving up and then down the E minor scale. Each pull off causes an E "pedal" note. It looks and sounds way harder than it is! Give it a try.
... Oh I forgot to mention the bit at 00:16 is "pinch harmonics". I just hold the D note at the 12th fret and play different pinch harmonics near the pickups. Give those a Google they are fun, too!
@@GarryParker Wow thanks a lot 😃👍 I didn't expect so much detail, but I'm glad you took the time to enlighten me 🤗 Now I have something to research on 👏
Very nice 🤟
I bought one recently. Amazing guitar. The only thing I dont like is the bright and thin sounding neck pickup. Any suggestion for neck pickup change to get a fuller and fatter sound?
I totally agree that the neck pikup isn't great. My favourite neck pickup is the Seymour Duncan '59. They do a "little '59", which is known for being quite fat. I may do the swap myself at some point.
@@GarryParkeri sold this guitar for the pickups, but i miss it a bit. It's also incredibly cheap compared to other japanese or american guitars. The neck wood felt a bit cheap, but i think it's because it was new and needs some aging to get to that more yellowish color that the old school RGs had
@@biohazard8295I agree that the neck pickup is awful, but I don't use those much. The V8 in the bridge is fine for me. I have 4 Japanese RGs and I play this one the most at the moment. It has the thinnest neck of all of them and I love the maple board. The old-school heel joint gives it a different vibe as well.
What a beauty!!😍😍
1:46 Killer axe, had to look this up for reference. I believe I just scored big time on one of these! Didn't know they made a UK run. The UK CA print did throw me off at 1st. But now I'm glad I pulled the trigger.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It's my favourite guitar to play. I love it.
@GarryParker Thanks, pretty stoked. Love the case combo by the way, gives it a great presentation.
Isso não é uma guitarra. E sim uma obra de arte 🖤😍👊
Definitely a sweet looking and sounding axe Garry. Nice find and great little soundtrack 🤘🤘🤘
Beautiful. Ibanez rules.
Dream guitar for sure . RGs are special
Totally agree, mate. I have 6 RGs!
I want to cover hehe thamk you
Title of song sir
Hi! It's a song I wrote myself as an exercise for my guitar teacher. However, the main melody is based on the song "Live For The Kill" by Amon Amarth ua-cam.com/video/Bh_5ofa__pY/v-deo.html check it out, it's great.
What a cool guitar
Thanks, mate!
@@GarryParker yeah like lets have total simplicity, but still keep the Floyd Rose 😃 EVH would approve, I do too! Enjoy it!
very nice!
Looks SHARP sounds GREAT!!!
Hi, how did you get the hard case, because it don't go with guitar in stock?
Yes, you need to buy the hard case separately if you want one. I have a few RGs, so share the cases. This is the one from my RG655 Prestige.
Looks good sounds GREAT!!!
👏👏👏👏 just wow Garry, this is a cracking entry! You've definitely put a lot of effort in hear and fantastic result. Love the multi-part playing, the costumes and the video editing - definitely got a big smile watching this 🔥🔥🤘🤘
Thanks a lot. It's all about having fun and I really enjoyed doing this. 😊
😁
Haha! Love the transition on this one! 👍
Great work Garry, that was an awesome jam man 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate! It was a lot of fun.
very nice work!
Nice playing Gary and great editing, I wish I knew how to edit like that, it's awesome... I'm sure he can use the first part as its clean.
Thanks man. I used Movavi video editor which makes the editing a breeze. If I'm disqualified then so be it, I was just having some fun!
@@GarryParker Agreed, unless you are getting paid it's all about having fun. I might try that Movavi, I'm mostly hopeless with editing. I'm going to put mine up in the next few days. Cheers Garry
Absolutely fantastic! Nice job adding multiple layers and videos. Definitely enjoyed watching this one 🤘😎
Thanks man. I thought you might like it, you're as crazy as me 🤪
@@GarryParker you're welcome! It's no fun if you can't challenge yourself to do something wild and crazy 😜🤪 🤘😎✌️all the world is a stage. Even if it's just in your own living room/studio.
Haha brilliant! Cool beginning with 3 guitar idea, then screw it full out rock 🤘 Very cool 🎸👍
Yeah, I can only play clean for so long 😀
@@GarryParker yeah what is this cleeen nonsense? 😂
Крышку зачем снял? Чтобы потерять?
That is f**king gorgeous! 😯
Thanks mate 🤘
