It looks amazing, the plant growth is just crazy👍❤a bookshelf aquarium is definitely on my list at some point, though first I need to find some more space in my apartment.
keep the bush!
That sounds like a good slogan ... for something! So, I've decided to "prune" the bushes (it's actually two big masses) and start it back up with new, fresh tendrils. The undercarriage is not that healthy as it has been smothered.

@@josepolanco1228 hi buddy. Thanks for the wave!
Thanks Steffan, amazing a usual . Recently ordered 2 small brucephalandra trying then to how they do for me
@@josepolanco1228 Buce take a while to get going. But once they do they are awesome. Don’t be afraid to give them light and some flow. They perform better that way.
@@LushSaltyAquariums they are realy small as shipped. But holding up
A rack system is probably my best option as far as adding more aquariums in our home . 30 gallon long tanks was my idea but your system is very logical plus I've never had an open top tank but love the idea of them . Plus the advantage of growing plants in them. And if I did Japanese rice fish or Whit cloud mountain minnows I don't need a heater. My Longfin zebra danios have been picking off some of my shrimp as well. I never had luck with nerite snails. That diver and chest of yours could be made of cast iron. A 3 tank rack system would be nice. Your plants are amazing and I say long live the Hippie plant. I wore bell bottoms and listened to 8 track tapes on the way to school back in the Iron Butterfly days lol.
@@guyfawkescorys wow! I’m so glad to hear from you. It’s been a minute since you’ve posted. Thanks for coming by. Funny you mention Iron Butterfly. I saw them back up somebody else in the 80s, when they were long past their prime.

Like this setup. If you trim the plant's lightly it actually reenergizes them, just like a little hair cut. I decorate around my tank's too! Just adds so much interest and personality to the aquarium. I especially like decorative wood pieces and different rocks. Everyone misspeaks , heck I do all the time. That being said yes I love your tanks and fish but I love listening to you describe your aquariums that is just as great as the scapes and fish in my opinion so keep doing you Stefan 😁👍
thank you for the confidence build. I feel the same way about you, Patty! And I will keep "doing me" as I'm not sure what the options are 🤣
I am not sure I know anyone who has ever misspoken, Steffan. It's good we are able to grow from the 'constructive' critisim we receive from others. I love your take on the words that vex you. I have a whole list like expresso, excape, expecially. 🙂 It's all good, my friend! Take care! ~Ron
OMG - Espresso took me forever to get right. And I still think Expresso sounds cooler!
@@LushSaltyAquariums I get it. It's expecially easy to fall into that trap. 🙂
@@garageaquatics2023 You mean "expecially" 🤣
Still cannot get over the size of those rainbows. I just added an Opaline Gourami in with my boesemani rainbows because of your tank. It is now my favorite fish in there even at his young size he's very handsome. I had 2 red rainbows but died after a couple months mysteriously.. they were getting skinny height-wise even though they were eating well. Will have to start over with new ones.
@@otallono opaline gouramis have a bad rap. Mine (and yours) are crowd pleasers and very amicable to others. The rainbows you mentioned dying probably had an internal parasite. When that happens it’s a crap shoot. Thank you for commenting and supporting my channel :)
That story really cracked me up! Taught me a new word too. I enjoyed hearing you think out loud and I really commend you for your one take vids it takes me like an hour to record a couple minutes of talking😂
@@BlinkyShimp lol- was the new word “nadir?”
@@LushSaltyAquariums That’s the one :)
@@BlinkyShimp I like its opposite, too: "zenith" the word I should have used years ago in that example I mentioned🙄
I know you feel bad , and understand. My self like you , work , father family person. I work 2 x 12 hr nursing jobs. Dont have a production and editing crew we often mis speak, although you know the words and have a mental block. No written , script. Is easy to make make this kind of “ mistake. I have a major issue with “uh” and lately i am editing them out. People are critical. for people like you and me , this is a hobby. We do the video and share out experiences. We all make mistakes and often correct each other in a non threatening way. Except in the case of haters, that are looking for error and criticize in a harsh way, while not doing something on their own. Is cool man. I have misspoke so many time. Some time i catch and fix with text on screen. We are only human and have busy lives and make the time to do this. Your work is amazing and keep doing it 🙏
@@josepolanco1228 Jose- thank you for this comment and your support. People like us are the vast majority of fish tubers. We support each other and smile at each others’ mistakes.
@@LushSaltyAquariums is all good , often we see it or hear it and say or think he/ She meant this or that🤷🏼♂️ and move on. Once i had this one guy( the one hater i have had, been lucky) did something on phosphate and got a little into the science of chemistry, nothing too deep. I am a RN for 41 years and a biochemistry mayor after nursing for a second degree. I mentioned the periodic table( chemistry) the dude went on to say . “ went to far to mention the table” “talk about this or That” me paraphrasing. I had to respectfully educate him and tell him that if he watched the whole video , i went into all those things 😄. And went further to clear up and educate him on some things he said he was “ not sure about”. The funny thing is, that some months later the guy made a positive comment also stating that a friend recommended this channel, that was a “good channel “. Wanted to remind him, but let it go. 😂😂
@@josepolanco1228 Maybe that guy's later positive comment was a demonstration that your soft touch with him earlier worked and that he had come around :)
Stephan, we are human and as humans we make mistakes. Sometimes, as you said, we do this over and over with certain words, phrases, etc.. A tick. A mental block. Call it what you will. We all have faults. I have many of my own. What more of us need is empathy and acceptance. I think you will find that most of us in this hodgepodge of different people that we call our fish community, are forgiving and understanding of each other’s minor infractions. Moving on…. Some have editing equipment. Some don't. You record. You post. Mistakes are going to happen. This video explaining yourself was done well and with grace. It saddens me that you felt it was needed. Personally, I don't think it was. You are one of few that I have come across that accepts comments whether they are positive or not and you always do it politely. Which is one of the reasons I subscribe to your channel. Looking forward to the next one.
@@tracys.6033 thank you for writing this, Tracy. But please don’t be sad. I was pleased to have had this opportunity to “face” the camera and give credit to my fact checkers :)
@@LushSaltyAquariums I can be a fact checker instead of a follower? Cool!😊
@@tracys.6033 Well, I can't pay you but yeah... ;)
@@LushSaltyAquariums 👍
@@LushSaltyAquariums I was joking with you Stephan. There is no way I could be a fact checker. I don't have anywhere near the knowledge you and others have. Which is the reason I ask so many questions.
Yep, it doesn't matter long as the tanks are doing well. I don't talk, not even much in real life, so I automatically avoid these. I've been using subtitles more and more recently ever since I started editing on a PC some months ago instead of in my phone which I did since 2020-early 2024. The number of times I visit dictionaries and spell-check is a lot and yet some mistakes still go through. I also avoided using, calling and tagging my aquariums as "aquascapes" for some time because I thought they were too "messy" for aquascapes but I kept revisiting the meaning of the word and started using it again on the tags.
I'm so glad you saw this video - my sincere thanks to you for the invaluable aid last couple of years! I'm still not down with editing as it adds too much time for me to do well. my few attempts were painstaking and the results painful. again, thank you Morning Driftwood or may I call you "Dutch?" ;)
@@LushSaltyAquariums Idk. I've been learning to love hardscapes lately so Dutch from Dutch style may not be so accurate 😀
@@MorningDriftwood what do you mean? Please elaborate 🙏
@@LushSaltyAquariums If "Dutch" would be from Dutch-style aquascape, it wouldn't relate to me much since the style doesn't involve hardscapes. In my latest and on-going aquarium designs, I am adding hardscapes more than ever.
@@MorningDriftwood I see. You know my favorite part of aquascaping is building the hardscape. Something about rock, wood and sand is SO appealing.
I love your vocabulary and wish mine was larger, more vast… lol I totally relate to this though. What drove me nuts was the beginning of the trend of the saying, “I know, right?” I couldn’t stand it. Nowadays it’s people starting all their statements with, “ I mean…”. Drives me up the wall. But, hey… these are the silly things in life. It’s all fascinating! The moment we stop paying attention to these little things, is the moment we become boring and cease to grow. I don’t think a person can be deeply in love with fishkeeping without being deeply introspective. It’s always the tiny details that catch our attention. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Oh my, what a lovely comment. Thank you! And you're right this hobby feeds into our (my) already intense sense of observation, both inward and out.
It's good to see you put a face to your channel. Your tanks are awesome you have great content. Just remember there is no one perfect in this world if there was they would be in heaven. Keep up the great work love your channel
Thank you so much for the vote on confidence and the reminder of our "human condition."
Your face doxxing is a positive addition to your channel. It's more human and personable. Well done.
@@goodgravy3047 “face doxxing” such a great term for it! Thanks for the props as well :)
We all are human. And sometimes humans say or do things we didn't intend. I know some things in our lives can stick in our memory even years later. I'm learning to be more forgiving of myself for things in my past that only I know and am very regretful of. Life is a trip.
@@goodgravy3047 preach. I’ve said things in the past far more deserving of an apology - but at least they weren’t on camera :)

This looks amazing, true artistry!! Not heard of the albino pygmy so thanks for showing them off :)
Thank you. AA! It's hard showing them off because they are so small, smaller even than regular Pygmy Cory's.
With that many plants in that little aquarium I'm surprised you still use a filter in it. Or is that more for flow?
The filter may not be necessary but is a force of habit for me. It can't hurt and it probably helps. And yes flow is a big part of it, too.
Fantastic tank and fish 👍👍👍
Thank you, Skull. Nice to see you again!
Tank looks great. Congrats on your new Corys!
These albinos are so tiny even by Pygmy standard.
@LushSaltyAquariumYou know how much I love Cory's. Especially my pgymys! For some reason, I don't usually get albino of any species. But these guys are special. I am so jealous! I've added them to my bucket list. As I know nothing about them, I look forward to any updates you post about these little guys .

I do like your Ember Tetras.
Thank you, my friend. Ember Tetras are "basic" but beautiful. The classic nano fish.
Walstad style invloves self-sustaining setup without added co2, fertilizer and the filter device. Don't you mean like a Dutch style since it has no hardscape and it's an arrangement of grouped similar plants?
0:50
You are absolutely correct. I think that is a better designation for sure.
After sleeping on your comment I am making a change to title card. You've correctly corrected me on numerous occasions and I thank you immensely. -Steffan

@@LushSaltyAquariums i see. Mentioned your beautiful tanks and channel again on another video. Edited, but not posted yet
After watching… I’m convinced I should quit this hobby ASAP.
Do it! The fish community can and will help you every step of the way!
Beautiful tank! Question.. So, I thought that walstad style meant something very specific - dirt, sand cap, no filter, little to no water changes, no co2 injection. Just curious, because I'd be afraid that someone who didn't watch the full video might inaccurately cite this tank as an example of what you can accomplish with that specific method! But I could be completely mistaken about what makes a walstad tank a walstad tank! Either way, looking great! I got fed up with the red/purple bacopa myself and tossed it! lol
Hmmmm... I think we are both right (and maybe a little off). I consider a Walstad tank one that only has plants and no hardscape, CO2 being optional. I consider aquasoil and dirt essentially the same thing as they are both "soils." Whereas Diana Walstad certainly spoke only of dirt in her set-ups (with, i think, no filter), I believe adopting soils and using CO2 and modest filtration certainly within the definition. Maybe I should refer to this tank as a Walstad style aquarium? Regardless, it's a thoughtful comment and I appreciate it.
@@LushSaltyAquariums makes sense to me! I am definitely a proponent of not boxing ourselves in with strict definitions of what makes a tank this or that "method"!
@@StephenP2003 Actually, as Morning Driftwood just pointed out an even better designation would be "Dutch Style."
Beautiful work, I agree with the comment above. This is a Dutch style aquarium, not a Walstad. High light, CO2, all plants and a filter. Regardless love it!
@@Ichthys_Aquatics Yup. It is a Dutch style more than Walstad. My bad. I am making a change to title card.
Is the soil capped?
Hi Lou! It sure is capped. A lovely dark colored sans over medium grain Aquasoil. Thanks for stopping by :)
Gorgeous 🎉 Your reds are good and red. Are you using any particular fertilizer to help with the iron? I added some Vietnamese Rotala R'Ha last week hoping my Corydoras would let them be. That's too much to ask. The little devils uprooted half of them so far 😂 I received my Bag of Bugs and snails yesterday and made a one gallon biotope in a glass vase for my desk. Added a full spectrum light I found in Amazon and just want to see what will happen without a filter or an air stone. I'm glad your Albino Corydoras made it alive from the West Coast during this excessive heat. They are cute little things. Thanks for sharing your tanks. Interesting to see.
Thank you, my friend! Historically, I have relied mainly on fish waster for fertilizer plus a dose of all-in-one once a week. However, for this tank and a couple others I have started a regimen of iron and potassium. Yet, i still maintain that very good light plus CO2 more of a factor.
It’s absolutely gorgeous! Such beautiful colors in all the plants and I love those little ledges! The fish look amazing and those little albino Coreys are such a nice touch. I hope they do breed in there.
