At 49:42 you say each field takes up 1/30 of a second. I thought a field was displayed at 1/60 of a second. Isn’t that where the term 60 Hz comes from? For interlaced video aren’t there 60 temporally offset frames per second?
Thanks exactly what I was looking for!! Is there a way to download the pdf?

I am having an issue with multigrouping that nobody seems to know how to solve or address online. I have two cameras (with sound) and a master audio with MULTIPLE TRACKS. Whenever I try to group them all together, Avid only keeps 2 TRACKS from the master audio and discards the rest. I then go to edit group in order to sync all the multiple tracks from the master audio but when I do and then click "'save group", it magically produces the camera audio track (?!) on top of the master audio. Why is it so difficult to create a group clip with multiple audio tracks? Is there a turnaround to all this? And why doesn't anyone else seem to have this problem?
Do the clips have a lut on them?
@@assistbootcamp3146 Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, they do but it is added in Resolve when the transcodes are made.
@@Winductthat shouldn’t matter. What version of Avid are you using?
@@assistbootcamp3146 2024.2.0.58174.0
Are you still having issues with this? I would split your Master audio out into separate mono tracks if they are not already, then the trick is to set a specific audio track for each track using the suffix at the end, like _01, _02 etc. You have to do this at the file level before you bring them into Avid. When you group, the audio will always go to the audio track set by the file name _01, _02... I'm guessing that by default your Master audio is coming into Avid defaulting as Track 1 so when you group they are just all on the same track.
can't see DNXLB option while I importing media pls help I use media composer 2024.2.0
That's odd, are you using the provided project and media?

As far as the conforming process, yes, tape name is very straightforward with an AAF to resolve workflow.
With recent versions of media composer, you can use other fields tape in place of Tape name without a problem. If you’re transcoding in another program though you may have to add a tape name, which is not a big deal. The main reason I don’t like tape name is the process of adding it in media composer is so clunky.
Hello Noah, Isn't the tape name make the confirming process easier over AAF for colour grading software such as Resolve?
Thank you for this! This is great content for beginner AE's. Learned alot.
Very helpful! Thank you!
Media Composer is best run on a Windows PC. Price vs performance, Windows + Ryzen is hugely better than any Mac M1 or M2.
“Titles in Avid” should be a horrible cover band with every song ending in tears and regret
That is hilarious.
This video is invaluable. As a Finishing Manager at a trailer agency, I wish all my AEs would take the time to watch this. Sir, is there an email I can contact you with questions?

@@assistbootcamp3146 thank you i will be watching them 🙏
Hi. Thanks for the great course. I just realize that Avid has changed a lot since this was shot so it's hard to follow along at some points or find the settings/tools wherever they've moved from
avid MC 2022.7 works with Mojave and MojoDx. It is the last version that does though. 2022.10 runs as well but eliminates the mojoDx from working. Currently running 2022.7 on macPro 5,1, metal upgraded gpu, 64g ram.
AVID is sp lame. i get forced into using it because too many editors are stuck in the 90's thinking AVID is great. I had to downgrade my Mac OS to use AVID sure it works but its an over produced waste of processing and with major quirks. Premier is far and above AVID and you get to live and work in 2022 with zero need to convert files and use up time and hard drive space. FYI i have 30 years on AVID and 15 on Premier so yes i do have the experience to make an informed comment.
The latest AMD Ryzen or Threadripper PCs are ultra-fast and *cheap* compared to Mac Studio or Mac Pro with M2 processor. Why suffer on a weak, overpriced Mac when a Windows PC is far more capable and much cheaper too? A win-win situation.
@@DerekDavis213 BECAUSE THEY STILL CRASH FAR TOO OFTEN
Hi there, since you made this great seminar, do you know if it has been any development of Avid Media Composer being native on the latest updates? I tested the latest software on an M1 laptop and in the info tab it wasn't linked to Roseta. I'm just wondering if that's now completed a new stage of development and people can safely use the M1 Max or Ultra studio machines with Avid and get the right results.
Unfortunately as of Media Composer 2022.10 the application is still not Apple Silicon native and continues to run through an emulation layer.
Great seminar. As someone who just got started on Avid on a Mac (clean start) this provides a great way to move forward with few hiccups.
Thanks for this epic video that should be required viewing by all Avid users....found it by accident. Keep us posted on any new developments.
Thanks! How did you find the video?

Fantastic video. Thanks so much for doing this.
You're welcome! Hope you found it useful!
I have been following along in this video, but so far any video I try to work with in the project is offline. I try to relink every which way, but no luck at all. I can't even really find the footage doing a search in finder. Any tips? I downloaded from the website. Was the video footage in the download? I'm following along without it, but it would be nice to see the footage. I installed the Red plug in, and am using Avid version 2018.12.5. Thanks
Thank you very much for compiling all of this information. It is extremely helpful!
