How I Make Ambient Using Only The Ableton Move
HI! Just wanted to make this video so you could tag a long as I make some ambient music with my Ableton Move. Although there are countless ways to make this kinds of music, I wanted to show you an easy way to go about it :) The sound is straight out of the Move. And isn't processed after the fact.
Hope you all enjoy my little creation!

Favourite Looping Technique in Ableton Live
Переглядів 6 тис.14 днів тому
One technique I really enjoy using when creating music, is to use unsynced loops. This technique dates all the way back to 1940s with the work of Pierre Schaeffer, and later Steve Reich, Terry Riley and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Who used tape loops to create phase patterns, rhythms, textures, and timbres. The same technique is highly transferable to digital. And works great in Ableton Live. Hope t...
My Top 3 Generative Ambient Devices
Переглядів 10 тис.21 день тому
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my top 3 devices for generative ambient in Ableton Live. First device out is the Tombola Sequencer. It is modeled after the famous OP-1 tombola sequencer Second, we have the Bouncy Notes device. This device is from the Inspired by Nature pack, available on the Ableton website. This device will give midi notes a more unquantised and random timing, which can le...

Ableton Move Workflow
Переглядів 4,9 тис.28 днів тому
After a lot of questions about my Move workflow, I finally got around to making a video about it. I’m going completely dawless today. Recording everything strait to a cassette recorder, but as a backup (and to monitor the signal) I’m also using a zoom recorder. Hope you get something useful out of this video. Please, consider subscribing and leave a thumbs up if you enjoy my little creations. I...

Amazing ambient piece 🙏 and i love your videos, so calm, so peaceful, great job and thank you for these 🙏
so good!
love your content today I'm thankful to have found your channel, keep going !
don't have music on in the bg when you're making a video about making music. highly confusing that while you're working there's all this other shit on in the bg
Are you Norwegian? Your accent is not unlike my own ;) cool technique showcase, I like the musique concrète angle.
nicely done - easy to follow along and create something cool - thanks!
Lovely demonstration of tools and talent! What do you think, after having an OP-1 for a while and now Ableton Move, which offers the best experience in sound design and better standalone results? Thanks!
Amazing ! So inspirational! I’ve just got my new Move and I’m watching your videos constantly and learn a lot! Keep going
Merci. Crispy clear!
Beautiful, dear André.
Thank you so much✨✨
👏👏🎶
move is perfect for ambient!!
Absolutely. I was waiting for someone to convince me it was good for the job, and late last year, I was convinced.
It really is✨✨
great work. were the tracks separated in Ableton live or recorded as main output from Move? Sounds clean and not muddy. Awesome
Hey thanks! It was recorded straight into a zoom recorder from the main output👌🏻
I have sonic beds too. Great sample pack. I've actually sampled all of the instruments racks to use for ambient pieces in my digitakt. Interested to know how you're using them here? Are you using the raw samples? Or the instruments racks? They sound quite layered so I'm assuming the racks (I guess that the beauty of the Move!)
Oh nice! It’s actually just the audio samples. Haven’t tried transferring the instrument racks yet. But that would be cool though!
@@andre_davies Yeah I just created some nice looping 4 bar samples for each of the variations from the instrument racks. Little bit painstaking but an awesome resource. Loving your videos by the way. Very inspiring and in line with what I'm trying to do with my modular and Ableton. You've also convinced me to consider the Ableton Move too!
Simply, I love it... You're a master at working with minimalism! Some people use minimalism as a way to justify or hide their inability to create something "rich"... but then there's you... You take it, give it purpose, and turn it into something successful and incredibly appealing. Amazing work, as always man!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice 🙏
considering the distance of the daw is making my eyes hurt
Haha, apparently I enjoy squinting a lot😅
@@andre_davies The set up is gorgeous though. Worth the squint lol
I really love your channel 🙏
Thank you man! That’s so nice to hear✨
Beautiful atmosphere :)
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Interesting way, I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for the ideas!
Love it! Wondering if you meant to have the reverb on return A not fully wet, would definitely recommend that since it's already a parallel effect!
Thanks✨ yeah absolutely. Still I probably forget half the time🙈
Andre, thank you so much! You have a very warm and inspiring channel. I discovered it a week ago and I come back often. And each time there is a nice leisurely adaptation of what I have seen from you. There is a feeling of simplicity and ease in creating musical sketches. You are very precise in giving the amount of information needed to start the process. And it is very valuable that you share your experience. Rediscovered Inspired by Nature this week. I've spent a couple of evenings trying to understand the diversity of this package. And tonight I decided to take some time and follow you through this simple script. And yes, I did get lost in the process ;) PS I have a question - why don't you use Push if you have such a warm attitude to Ableton Live? Yes, I see Move. But it's a bit of a misnomer. Was looking at it myself last fall. But I decided to get myself a Push 2. And now it's changing the way I approach music sketching.
Nice! Very calmly demonstrated. Sounds great!
Love this , what is the Kalimba link please , looks like you connecting it digitally ?
That’s pretty nice
beautiful bro, i like your content, greetings from Argentina
Nice one!Less is more,Thanks
Another thankfully demonstration about the power of simplicity. Hidden jewels are in front of us, blurred by many possibilities and plugins. Thanks for sharing!
"Hidden jewels are in front of us, blurred by many possibilities and plugins." Elegant...and spot on.
Thank you for this sharing 🙏 beautiful 👏
Thank you! It’s my pleasure✨
Sometimes... music can be as simple as it is magical. In this case... the result is truly rewarding... with minimal effort. It's amazing... thanks, as always!
Thank you! And well said✨
Simple and beautiful, thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it✨
Nice one. Ableton should send you a Push 3
Hey, thanks! That would be great😅
👏👏👏 great 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow.. Thanks!
Cool sounds also, I love My Volt 4
Lovely. Nerd question: do you recommend the Volt?
Ampere is stronger!
Thanks✨ I like it a lot! But I couldn’t necessarily tell you that it sounds better than a cheaper interface.
I think it could be a good background music in some kind of chill game. Hope you get your auditory
Oh yeah! I really resonate with you. And I explore uneven loops in my videos with guitar effects. Even in my last video I used this technique with Chase Bliss Blooper and Lekato Looper.
Nice! The blooper is great for that sort of stuff✨I used to do it with the Mood as well❤️
I like doing this. I do a similar thing with subtle percussion parts. Another thing I really like doing in combination with this is adding multiple variations of the loop along with Ableton's random options to trigger a random variation once each loop ends.
Oh that’s cool idea✨
Creativity comes from simplicity. At least, that's how I feel about it. Great video!
It truly does✨
Holy moly so cool!
Thanks🙏🏻✨
nice work.
Hi Andre, what model is your mixer and how are you utilising it in your setup ?
Looks like a Soundcraft EFX8 or something close to that.
That’s right, it’s the soundcraft efx8. I started out using it as an No Input Mixer, but now it serves as a way to send audio to and from my cassette recorder.
@ thank you 😊
@ Cool! Do you use the Lexicon reverb that comes with the mixer in your productions at all?
Great video, thanks!
Thanks✨✨
love it, thank you!
Thank you✨
Thank you for this amazing video and tutorial 🙏 lovely track 👌
Thank you so much✨🙏🏻
lovely pad sounds.. very melancholic, very deep! would you share the three samples ? i would like to analyse the structure and rebuild it in a Bitwig synthesizer (i dont use Ableton)
I’ll see if I can find them👌🏻 I’ll put them up on Patreon for as a free download.
@@andre_davies that would be awesome :))
Man... thanks so much for sharing your techniques... I couldn't agree more with this kind of approach. Letting the loops flow feels so much more alive, like playing without being tied to rigid sequencing... I used to have a bit of a 'thing' against super rigid sequencers and machines for the same reason-it felt like there was no room to 'feel' or let things breathe. Over time, discovering these kinds of techniques has completely changed that, and honestly, I enjoy it so much more now. 🙌
really nice! thanks!
Thanks✨✨
Nice
