So grateful for your videos! I have my test mid-Sept, I’ve literally self taught from UA-cam. I started professional lessons once I felt like I was pretty good, just to tidy things up and make sure I was doing everything correctly- my instructor refers to our lessons as “box ticking” to check I’ve done stuff, he hasn’t really taught me anything I hadn’t already learned from here. I’m just sticking with him to use his car on test day tbh because no one can get time off to take me in my car and all other instructors locally have such a long waiting list. He’s cancelled a lot recently too. At this rate I don’t trust him not to cancel on test day either 🙄 He says I’m test ready, and I do feel it (except for parking which he hasn’t even touched with me despite me asking, but that’s a today job with my husband when the shops close 😂)…I’ve literally learned everything from your channel and one other. So *when* i pass, you get the credit 😅

We have just released a UA-cam membership scheme for really comprehensive lesson videoes, but it sounds like you are beyond the videos now. Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s incredible to hear how much progress you've made through self-teaching and that my videos have been a big part of your journey. It sounds like you’ve put in a lot of hard work, and that’s really paying off. Wishing you all the best for your test in mid-September.

I did this on my first test but had to change lanes to go back around. Checked my mirror and blind spot before indicating to change lanes. In Switzerland, it doesn't matter if you pass in an Automatic, you can also drive a Manual (without ever learning to drivie one)! They are, however, very strict when it comes to how to position and drive your vehicle, looking for hazards, etc.

Learn in an auto, pass in a few months saving yourself a tonne of money. Have the freedom of being able to drive while gaining the most important part of driving... experience. I'm currently learning in a manual car. I feel like I am most likely to get one as my first car, but it'll be great to have the option of an automatic. I have good hand-eye coordination and a fast reaction time, so manual isn't much of a challenge for me. My brother, on the other hand, would struggle a lot with changing gears while focusing on the road. He will most likely go for an automatic. Different cars are best for different people!

    • @clivewilliams3661

Driving a manual car teaches you about how to treat an engine and the running gear. I learnt to drive in a van with a crash box i.e. without the niceties of getting help selecting gears, this forced me to be a smoother driver, something that exists today.
