I haven't played around with the Deck of Worlds, but it seems like I may need a word with Santa. Here's my pitch: The ground erupted as a shaft of blasphemous energies released by the hexing lanced through both earth and skies, opening up the mortal realm to two worlds of the vast beyond. There, horrors fight a seemingly neverending battle making it rain monstrous corpses. The abyss of knives, named so for the duplicitous nature of the abyssals, yawns wide by a farmhouse. Its inhabitants are a group of shape changers trying to learn what makes humanity tick, method acting as farmers to infiltrate society. They are understandably upset about this setback; their farm is in the epicenter for an event getting in the way of learning about humans as monsters keep dropping onto their fields, into their backyard, or crashing through the roof. They need your help. Why are they trying to learn about humanity? Would you give it to them? "Don't look at me - I just create the problems!" - GM

Love the Deck of Worlds and the Story Deck, they are like a random table with 2 or 4 different things to really build on NPCs, areas, and such and can let your mind go wild, I cannot wait for their Lore decks coming soon. I also found I would not have made the same choices in the cards as you had, but that's the joy of the system. I also like your abyss and tear in the sky dichotemy, as I would have chosen the same part, but the abyss rather than being in the ground is the tear in the sky. Also for irony sake, a farmland, one that would grow crops rather than "of Knives," I would of had gone "of Hunger" or even "Wasting" Abyss or called the farmhouse the "Wasting Farmhouse"... who knows? Like I said, the cards are super versatile and open to interpretation. Like with the other side of Farmhouse, you could have had a spiraling Abyss (using Spiral as more of an adjective rather than a location and then chosen another location card to give it a place of origin or a landmark). I personally do not have the horror decks, but may consider getting those thanks to this video. I like creating conflicts with the cards, something in the middle like a place or a person, and there is a problem on both sides that can make the person or place torn. Like an elvish bard that wants to gain fame with an obsessive, yet drconian visionary, but it means they have to give up their dreams, but on the other other hand they are shirking their responsibility for an eternal crown, but they must make a sacrifice that no one will know about. I recently moved so not sure what it is exactly called in the books for the big box sets (waiting for a few things to get built before fully unpacking), but it really lets me come up with some interesting ideas and let my mind wander and morph and use it for my own purposes. Thanks for the spotlight on a tool that I don't think gets a lot of love.

I plan on reworking them a bit as I play DCC but this definitely fits a gonzo play style well. I expect to mainly use the banes for arcane mishaps etc and the boons more for men at arms.

Is there a way to upload a JSON file from some of the easier character creation sites? I don't want to make the characters for my players I want to send them to a site to make their own and then send me the Json file so I can upload it

I like both. I would use the version that corresponds to the edition being used. All in all, I think whoever ported this did a good job of staying close to the original while making reasonable fit and finish adjustments to suit the mechanics and mores of 5e.

And I really like when we have those discussions in the beginning of the after show. It helps me learn more about the game beyond the book.

Great selection of minis. I hope have your luck when I buy a box or 2. If I don't get good minis, I'll try to buy the few I want as individual purchases. The Lolth mini is my favorite from the bunch you received, although Mordenkainen is a close second.

I would check out Wilona’s Cave latest video. He’s burned a copy of the astonishing book of random tables. I think he has a good reason to do it too.

Thanks for sharing! I picked up a couple boxes myself. Best mini was a 50th Anniversary Chase of Dungeon Master. Supposedly pretty rare.

Great review of ShadowDark RPG thank you. I am hoping to move the other 2 weekly games that I DM away from D&D 5e and over to ShadowDark instead. I enjoy running it so much more. I lean more towards the creepy, scary, deadly. I also love that the players don't have 4-5 things they can do in a single turn as a level 3 character... 🙄

I have this deck box also, and the only complaint I have is how small the print in the booklet is. I'm visually impaired, so I'm transcribing the book contents into an easy to read, large print google doc for my own reference. Other than that, I really like this deck and the boons/banes. Will make its debut when my table of players gets to level 10.
