Whitefish Bonus Round!
In the middle of our epic walleye adventure, Erin and I switched gears to chase some whitefish-and it paid off! 🎣❄️ This bonus round added a whole new layer to an already amazing trip, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.
We had 8 marks and hooked into 3 landing 2. If you fish for white fish you know that's a pretty decent batting average.
Watch this mid-adventure segment for a quick change of pace before we head back to the walleyes. Don’t forget to check out the full series and subscribe for more. Thanks for watching, and have a great day!"

First Ice, Big Rewards: Scouting Perch, Walleye & Burbot for Clients

Ever had one of those days when the fish seem to bite every time your phone rings? That was the theme of this outing! Every call seemed to bring a fish to the line, but the highlight (and heartbreak) was the big one that got away. Feeling the sting of losing that monster, I decided to channel some serious big fish energy by watching Clayton Schick Outdoors. Inspired by his techniques and positi...

Getting checked by the game warden while catching perch
That wasn’t a ling!! Lmao! Are you sure you’re a “fishing guide?”
@cowbway8462 🤣🤣🤣 lawyer, ling and burbot are all the same thing with different names. I'm not sure what you're on about unless I messed up my editing and threw in a walleye lol. But that was definitely a burbot.
"Night now?
Yes, I like to fish in the evening and into the early night as the fish we have here are most active then.
Мне кажется, что они сидят в американском траке и ловят рыбя из бензобака😂
Hahahaha, That's funny. I like it alot. This is a flip over fish house made from insulated fabric we tow behind an atv. An absolute must to be mobile and find the fish aswell as go out in the cold. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Hey Miq. You put my son and I on a great spot last Saturday. Between the spot, some medium sized sucker minnows, and covering a few different depths, we caught 20 walleye and lost another 15-20. You know your stuff!
@matthewzacharias thanks soo much for the reply. It was awesome meeting you guys and I'm glad you had a great day out!
I need a rematch with those fish, need to get the big kids on the ice instead of losing them at the hole...
Gotta lay into em with a hook set love, your casual lean back, hey there's one doesn't work on the bigguns.
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Good stuff Miq!
@@sunmock thanks buddy!
When is she gonna hook up? You keep taking all the fish lol😂😂
@ColbieLindblom 🤣🤣🤣 lol she's gotta hammer her hook sets! She got a pile in a video coming up.
Holy cow dude I thought you had that walleye the second time around!! Heartbreaker !!! You gotta go back and get em!
@EasternOntarioAdventure dude that fish is my white whale! I'm on the hunt!
Those are some nice perch! It seems like I always hook up when I'm texting or just grabbing my phone to call somebodu lol😂😂❤
@ColbieLindblom me too! They know your distracted and want to try to steal the bait lol.
@ColbieLindblom but if that's the case what I've found is that you are fishing too aggressively when you're focused on them and they just want to sit and look without the lure being pulled away.
@DoingStuffWithMiq yeah, usually that happens with the sunfish, the perch and crappies want it moving most of them time here in Minnesota
Hey boss. Long shot but any update on the ice conditions of muscrat? Looking at making a trip there but can’t find any ice reports
It's locked up and improving. Machines on the ice but please check for yourself there's some holes from when it broke up and thin areas. I've been on it since this video chasing some fish.
Wonderful thanks for the update do you think it will be good for the tourney on the 1st?
@ryanduchesne5788 yeah idk if they will allow truck but I'll be out there tomorrow ripping around on the atv looking for Lakers. They've been moody so far this year for me with alot of shirt strikes and weird hits.
@ thanks boss. I plan on making a trip next Wednesday to scout out some places before the tourney. Best of luck out there.
They look almost like a bowfin.
@@Thefishingpol-i8u yes they kinda do. Way more slime and no teeth. I honestly never really thought of their similarities before.
Where u fishing at
@aricvanderboom1591 I'm located in Eastern Ontario. Thx for watching.
Never heard of salt on minnows. Worth a try.
We're required to here so that they are cured and the eggs/parasites can't be transfered to other bodies of water that they aren't in. a touch of borax is supposed to help rubberize them so they are more firm and stay on the hooks better. Thanks for watching, Cheers.
@DoingStuffWithMiq interesting
If i land it, i eat it. That's why i fish
@@Thefishingpol-i8u that's not always an option with the regulations we have and size restrictions. It's also not sustainable for someone like me who fishes 4 days a week or more to keep every legal fish I catch it would decimate the local lakes. Practicing selective harvesting and keeping a modest amount is always the best practice.
My understanding is that salted minnows count towards your 120 minnow limit.
@marclebel649 that's what I think too.
Heartbreak when you lose a good one.
@marclebel649 oh yeah man! Especially twice! I don't know what hit that soo hard that i lost 2 entire quick strikes but I'm gearing up for a rematch. Might be a monster gar! Thanks for watching!
Got to love the Crappie bite.
@marclebel649 nothing better than a hot crappie bite! Except maybe real fired up walleyes 😉
When you were targeting perch what kind of bait or lure did you think to use to target them?
@@carsonkik Hi Carson. That day they were really keyed off and seemed to only est each lure once. That being said I use an assortment of small dinner bell spoons, micro jigs and reaction baits like micro tantrums, hyper glides and jigging raps to target the larger active perch. If you can use live bait a live minnow higher up will often seal the deal on the those reluctant to eat big perch that get called in my the louder lures.
@@carsonkik thanks for the comment I'll have to make a video on it that's most in depth.
That’s a tank!!
🎉🎉🎉
Just amazing ❤
Hows the ice right now?
@daviddobson4711 poor right now. I'm hoping it'll bounce back quickly with this cold. We got it, but the snow we just got won't help. I think it'll be walkable by next week and atvs probably mid or end of next.
Bro, what lake are you at? :P
Lmao, It's lake nunya.
Sudds
We raise geese, our process is different than what you do. We like to skin the entire bird, discarding only a few items. the feet and lower legs get fed to our dogs. the wings are removed and discarded with the skin and head. We filet the breast meat out for steaks. the legs and thighs get removed and the carcass gets cut into smaller pieces. Heart and gizzard are removed and packed with the neck. we remove as much fat as possible as it tastes off to us. We would never cook a goose like duck as they are totally different tasting. The carcass get boiled for a couple hour as do the legs, thighs, gizzard and necks. Our favorite seasoning is crawfish boil making the meat spicy hot. Breast steaks are almost like elk so we tend to eat them like raw or very rare. Like I said totally different birds.
@thecountrybunkins8896 i couldn't agree more. Sounds like a different cleaning process but that you end up with similar cuts. My favorite for the breast is to grill it like a steak or make jerky. The legs we tend to braise and slow cook in BBQ sauce. The hearts like I said in the description we just half or quarter and fry then eat like that. Often all of that is only lightly seasoned as we like the flavor alot. I take all the soft yellowish fat off but have found late season dense almost hard white can be very tasty. Thx for the reply!
Thank for posting this, I learned some short cuts.
@EjwiiiMoviesNYMountains good I'm glad it did. I didn't explain much in this video I just got in the zone and did the work. But if you look closely you see me tearing instead of skinning. Breaking joints then putting the knife through to follow the natural join and if you cut where the ribs meet the thorax it's easy to pull the whole plate up. Happy hunting!
Honk honk
Thats a fatttty!!!
Thx Buddy was awesome to finally get out there!
Does it hurt the goose?
@@benhellemanoutdoors not a bit!
Looks like so much fun!
@@AndysNatureSounds thx, we really love it. I'm looking forward to this year's adventures.
is that clear lake?Looks just like a lake that cast and conquer did a video on i just watched .Dang near looks like the same area too
@staceykupka1713 good eye. It sure is. If you look closely whether last videos they put up I appear in both ;). I had the pleasure of fishing with them last season.
Hey wut did he all do when he came up to u? Did he run your fishing license to see if u had warrants?
@simonshock5532 Checked my license and called it in, took them a few mins to get back as signal sucks out there. Asked if I had fish. Then recognized me from a few weeks before so chatted a bit and wished me luck then went on their way. I forgot to ask for permission to film and have them in the video so I only put the far away angle in the video. I have to say that I have yet to meet a real problematic CO in Ontario in all my years. I had one that was a little too excited once and his supervisor shut him right down and stepped in. If you're doing everything right to the best of your ability they are happy and most are pationate about the outdoors or they wouldn't bother getting into that line of work.
ខ្ញុំចូលចិត្តជីវិតបែបនេះណាស់❤❤❤❤
Thank you! We love it too.
love fishing perch through the ice
@claytondrought44 me too! One of the funnest fish to target and great to eat!
Aint no way id put all that time and money into fishing for such a tasty fish like perch just to let them go .
Lol that's fair but we already have more than we need in the freezer. These late ice trips are chasing after giants and looking for a new pb. Plus it's a ton of fun ice fishing in 5 degrees above 0 for a change. Thx for watching!
There's nothing better than enjoying your kayak setup. Fishing with friends, tournaments, and enjoying your motors, electronics, and accessories. Me and a few buddies also do 3 camp/fish trips a year. It's just epic! 💯 😎 🎣
Definitely one of the best ways I can think of to spend a day out too! Cheers!
#first 🎉
Nice set up, man. I'm saving up to buy myself one just like that
That's wicked, if you haver questions ask and if you're around Ottawa you can come test it out.
Nice one. Just subscribed to the channel. Keep up the good work and tight lines
@bloodlinefishingadventuresllc thank you! Hugely appreciate it!
Looks like a good time can’t wait to get my setup ready
@brucepoole7551 it sure is. Good luck and don't over complicated it at the beginning, it's the no1 mistake I seem to see with new yak anglers. It just adds to the frustration and hassle of getting in and out easily.
@@DoingStuffWithMiq i appreciate it I’ll do my best!
That water looks choppy out there. I can only imagine what it looks like when the wind is stronger. Nice fish btw!
@calloftheoutdoors8941 thx! Yeah it was definitely rough. Camera seems to always reduce it to half just because of the perspective. I got about 6 all the same size but cameras were all frozen from staying in the truck for the while trip. Thx for watching it's appreciated.
Careful 😂
@sukabupaten lol definitely kinda. Too rough to fish but a great workout and tons of fun.
Ice fishing is a good time, but that thing didn't look too alive, LOL.😂
They are weird fish. More eel than fish. The big ones put up a serious fight.
Nice haul!
Thx Mike!
Good video! Nice burbot. Have been in a slump, I haven't caught one in years on the Ottawa.
I'm honestly surprised. We regularly got them on the river, try about 27 feet in a dip or flat. Later at night. 7pm to midnight bite windows. Sometimes all through the night.
Awesome video dude! That was a nice burbot. Wicked shack setup you guys have, looks super comfy!
Thx! Really appreciate the watch and encouragement.
Need another date night soon ❤
