Holosun EPS Review | Enclosed Emitter Perfection?
Holosun EPS Review: The Best Enclosed Emitter Pistol Red Dot?
In this video, I dive into the features and benefits of the Holosun EPS-my favorite enclosed emitter pistol red dot. Filmed during a rare snowfall in south Alabama, this setting perfectly demonstrates why an enclosed emitter design can be a game-changer in tough weather conditions. The EPS keeps snow, debris, and moisture out of your optic, ensuring a clear sight picture and reliable performance.
You’ll see how it compares in size to other red dots like the Aimpoint Acro and the Swampfox Kraken, and why its compact footprint (407/507K) is so convenient for holster compatibility. I also discuss brightness levels, the improved tactile buttons, durability, battery configuration, and that slight (but manageable) blue tint. If you’re on the fence about Holosun red dots or enclosed emitters in general, this review may help you decide if the EPS is right for you.
Key Topics Covered:
Benefits of enclosed emitter pistol red dots in harsh conditions
Comparison to popular open emitter sights (Holosun 507C, 508, Aimpoint Acro, etc.)
Footprint discussion (407/507K vs. RMR)
Durability, brightness, and user-friendly controls
Overall pros and cons of the Holosun EPS

Is that a primary arms optic?
Aimpoint t1
That was unironically beautiful
Needs some tuning. Your shooting brass out farther than the bullet
Yeah she’s all tuned up now. This is an older clip, we’re actually dropping the tuning video this week
Is that Dale Earnhardt Jr.?!
🙂
It is
@@thesoutherndrawBR Haha! Nice!
Idk i play airsoft. I’m Gona get a sling, but why and why does the possitions matter
Some work and some dont
Alright thanks
🎉
Why do people think a free floating rail is better on a fix front sight upper?
🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the video JD
I bought the EPS carry and sent it off to Jagerwerks with my G48 slide to get milled and mounted. I can't wait to get it back. Got a pair of 509Ts and an ACRO too. Keep up the great content.
I’ve shot/owned most of the Holosun models and the eps is my favorite hands down!
Do the laser have lower power settings with low power mode?
Yes
@thesoutherndrawBR ah ok, and can we reset it to low power again in case its needed?
@ID-9999 yeah you can, but once it’s in full power mode you can turn it down all the way to the same low power setting it comes with from the factory, so no need to really set it back to low power only.
@thesoutherndrawBR ahh , i see now ,thx
you can get some good 6.5 now for the price of 556!!! Sellior and Belliot 6.5 creedmoor picked up a bunch at 74 cents a round!!! 6.5 used to be $2.00to $4.00 a round
What date did you place your order? Wondering when the updated version will be shipping
Mid december
Gotcha. Just ordered! Crossing my fingers it’s new stock
Nice! 🤞🤞
Range looks very different in the snow. 🇺🇸
That rail is like a Daniel Defense MK12 rail but a lil shorter. Or a Knights Armament RIS. Legend has it that the owner of BCM is a United States Marine so you can see that inspiration of taking what works from the service and leaving the rest. You dont need Mlok or KeyMd. The design in my opinion is well ahead of its time.
Chris Pratt?
😂
Thanks for info. The way I see it is that rather get 47 get rid of my Glock gen 3 17. For the fact that I can put a 19 slide to make it a bit more compact to conceal carry than 17. A bit short not by much but still. Then if whenever maybe shooting long range target at range put 17 slide back on. Rather have a modular Glock can put different size slide than only one. But live in CA we can’t have that 😏
Move to a free state. You won’t regret it.
I have the yhm r2 resonator on my ar15 16” barrel and I haven’t shoot it yet 😢 I hope it’s significantly quieter
I have a r2 on a 16” and it’s very quiet
@ sweet!!!!! That makes me feel better lol. Subsonic or super? And what grain
@ 55grain Pmc mostly. SuperSonic
@ ok perfect that mostly what I have . Thanks for responding back right away
@ we’re here to help! Keep watching, we have some cool stuff in the pipeline!
What can is that and what ammo you shooting, and what length barrel?
Check out channel for the full video on it. 11.5” BCM SBR
@ ahhhh ok got it
This cool
I was looking at the YHM R9 but will probably be going with the MG7 358. No minimum barrel length for 5.56, still capable of suppressing a ton of different calibers, and a no BS warranty.
quad squad fam. that's still one of the best rails out there.
I won’t break, that’s for sure!
Great gun 👍
I have the 19 - one of my favorite pistols
G19 is the goatttttt
Mmmmm, gonna have to disagree with you here. There is a reason and the reason is window size. It's easier to shoot fast with a big window like the 507 comp or the SRO. I have an SRO on my edc G19. I live in Michigan not far from the lake shore and I shoot in all sorts of weather conditions including rain, heavy snow, etc. Basically if my car won't get stuck at the range I go there every weekend. Open emitter simply has not given me a problem. The scenario I see it causing the most problems is for dudes who shoot prone a lot and crawl around in the dirt. Then I could see it giving you some big problems and closed emitter is clearly better. I'm interested in the new aimpoint cuz I think the glass is a decent size but until someone makes a big window version that's enclosed I will probably stick to mostly open emitters.
I find my EPS has a big enough window to shoot rapidly and track the dot. The Aimpoint acro size windows are pretty small to me and I don’t like them a ton. The new Aimpoint seems interesting
I bought my Remington 1100 I got my FID card age 13. Got a job on a local produce farm $2.25 an hour. LOL THE TRUTH. The farmer had one for sale for he wanted $150 cash I worked it then it was mine. My most prized possession to this day. I'm now 66 years old and very successful construction contractor. I still want every year without shotgun. 🇺🇸🙏
Hahah That is awesome! Good job on keeping up with it after all these years
The slight play in the door, is there by design. I believe it is there to retain tension on the locking slide. In the instructions and on their videos, they state to press down on the door prior to engaging the finger buttons.
You’re right.
RTR
What ar you running
It’s a Frankenstein build. We will have a video breaking it down soon on the channel
Nice set up - what distance were you shooting
This was around 200 yards
Shooting in the show? What's that?
I thought about going but it was a 15 minute drive down some sketchy back roads and major highway with 5 bridges to cross to get there so I wasn’t able to get to the range.
🤙🏽
No reason but I got 700 excuses 😢
BCM 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a great gun! BCM is becoming my favorite brand
For the money they can’t be beat in my opinion
amateur
😂
I did not know the suppressor gets that hot makes sense
Why you see special ops type dudes running some sort of cover on their suppressors, they can burn through clothing
Yes the swampfox is on the budget friendly side but there are some more affordable durable enclosed dots for example Cyelee Optics has the cyelee bear great durable optic for an affordable price give it a look anyway great review keep em coming
I’ve reviewed a cyelee dot and was impressed by it! The bear looks identical to the kraken so if bet they are made in the same factory 😂
@thesoutherndrawBR I forgot to mention that lol they they same the kraken is just sexier cause the octopus
TOOK MY MONEY GOT NOTHING NO CONTACT
That’s tough
They're on Chinese New Year Holiday right now. They said they won't be back in the office until Feb 2.
Ditch the T1 get the T2. Parallax is less safe.
Nice! More snow in AL than here in MN. 😂
It snows here about once every 15 years 😂
Great shotgun, but unfortunately it became known as the gun of grandpa's and childhoods. Many of us grew up shooting these, but we all gravitated to the sexier and more tactical looking shotguns that appeared over recent decades.
Everybody has their own taste. To me, wood and steel is the way to go!
Using either vis or ir laser to aim with is aiming actively not passive. Using your optic for aiming either with nvg or with natural vision is passive aiming. It’s referencing the active emission of an aiming solution (your laser) vs viewing through your optic for aiming which only you can see.
507c is king.
Love it!
@ the king responds! Keep it up good sir!!
What a handsome classic shotgun. That beautiful wood is American black walnut. I’m glad you kept it in original factory condition.
Thanks!
My pockets aren’t that deep father
Cyelee bear exact same optic same quality and durability you would think they were made in the same factory and provides you with a quality durable optic for a budget friendly price for us poors brother
Quick question: What is an inclosed emiter
The part that emits the beam is enclosed in glass. Regular red dot optics have an exposed emitter which you could put your finger over and block the beam.
@joebama22266 ohhh thanks
Glass on both sides surrounding it. Keeps out dust, dirt, gas, etc. Open emitters have glass on one side only.
