I could t sleep for weeks. To make it worse, there was a large dressing table with 3 sided mirror in my bedroom. I was so scared to go to the toilet at night and see that man in the reflection. You've put this together so well! I first watched it in '95 or '96, my primary school teacher played us one episode a week leading up to the Christmas holiday.

Possibly the scariest and most disturbing episode of the series (I call it the "Man with no face episode") and the villain of the episode was a truly malevolent and irredeemably bad entity.

The fact that they used old school effects and animation in many scenes only makes it feel more homemade (in a good way).

The Faceless Man utterly horrified me as a small child.

Interest that it takes the main weapons system of a Dalek spaceship to destroy a Morris J van, otherwise they might have been in real trouble....

This was certainly spooky and ahead of it's time for 1968. The white robots and that noise they made added to mystery and suspense. The black & white images worked well, which augmented the effects of creepiness. I have seen a few (rare) colour stills of this story. The colour of the costumes gets lost in the grainy monochrome footage. The clockwork toy soldiers in their red uniforms and black hats for example:

Can't believe this was 2008! With deepfake technology and new apps and the like, reconstructions like this are now fairly commonplace! At least amongst the fans as tests. Would love to see a full-episode done up like this!

37yrs ago and still remember it like it was yesterday. Mystical....magical and so beautifully cast. Watch it every year with my own family leading up to Christmas and has become tradition. An 80s gem which I hold dearly.
