Effing brilliant mate!!! I always wondered what the history of this vehicle type was, and being English myself, I was very surprised to learn that it was based on Austin UK motors. Very surprised to learn how popular it was in USA. Nice video and good luck with the projects you take on. Ignore those dead heads who just want to annoy you. They used to drive Cadillacs. Cheers from New Zealand have a lovely day :)

Made by Isuzu. I had one of these 1976 Luv trucks around 1980, but mine was orange with white camper shell. Handy little trucks but gutless, really bad in a hilly city like Seattle where I lived at the time. Wouldn't be bad as a spare vehicle for occasional duty for hauling stuff.

Hi Newt - your wiring of that fuel pump is great, but will be better once you've done it 'more righter' !!! HA - love it ! HAAAA - tape the wire to the exhaust pipe ! NEVER change Newt, you are a GEM 🙂. A BRILLIANT video, and how lucky are you to still have your parents around, and even your grandparents - what a treat. Your four generation photographs will no doubt take pride of place in your home. Thanks Newt for all you do - keep em coming ! Take care 🙂

Remember doing brakes on a Met....trick I learned was when bleeding them, you need to collapse the wheel cylinder....push the pistons all the way in....then bleed that wheel....design flaw....the bleeder screw is lower than the brake hose, making it very hard to get air out of the wheel cylinder....almost always a soft pedal if bled normally......pressure bleeding helps too.

check each of the solenoids to make they get power only when they should, they are electrically function good, make sure they mechanically fully close and open as they should. Do this on your original ones and the used ones. if you get used ones, put one on at a time and see if there are changes in how it runs. One of the used ones may give you a new different (worse) problem. You seem to have the patience to deal with this form of insanity. :)

Also faulty fuel pump? Check/replace that to. A fuel pump, as you know, is like the heart of a vehicle in itself. Just as we all have a heart that pumps blood throughout out bodies, that's exactly what a fuel pump does in a vehicle, car or truck.

While that bed was taken off and standing upright, after yinz were presure washing it and along it to dry woukd have been a good time to spray paint black rust olem paint underneath the bed and on the underneath sides to help ward off rusting and corrosion. Then, painting the top portion of the chassis/frame part also would help to just the same to. Now in days, they have a paint on bed liner that you could also paint to preseeve the inside of the bed and keep it from being scrached and damaged to.

WELL DONE Newt - I knew you could do it, although I would have set fire to it hours ago ! I've had cars with silly problems like that and it really tests your patience, so just walk away and come back tomorrow and try something else. It's a great feeling when you hit that EUREKA moment though. I repair mechanical clocks as a hobby, and sometimes it's such a minute adjustment that makes all the difference. Anyway, thanks for sharing all your frustration with us - as always it's fun to hear you chatting away, knowing we are all shouting back at you. Thanks for the entertainment Newt - it's fun.
