Easy DIY wood stain (vinegar, steel wool, and coffee)| Truck topper build: bench, bed, food prep.
DIY wood stain, how to make and apply. Used on a custom bench seat/ bed/ cooking prep area for truck camping. About 1 cup distilled vinegar and 3:1 cups coffee to water plus one fine brillo pad. The lighter shade of brown works out nice for prep and cooking, to differentiate between prep area and the bench.

Camping is tight with this setup; but we love how easy and quick it sets up and breaks down. As crowded as the FL campgrounds are; this set up makes it easy to grab a last minute weekend cancellation, and go. Also check out the Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park campground and beach with us, on this trip.

Great idea
How is the power of this unit, on a 25° grade hill, know it runs fair on a level path, just wondered how it will climb
Climbs good in my opinion. Our backyard has a good hill and we climb it everyday with a few people on board no problem.
How is the power, climbing up a 20-25° grade
what is that piece you attach to the ac unit for the exhaust tube?
It's just a PVC fitting or adapter I got at lowes
Great video. You mentioned several times about making the reverse horn quieter. Is that possible without removing it? Thanks.
I'm sure you could cover it with something to muffle it, so you still have a warning. Just not so loud. A zip tie or duct tape does wonders😁
Thank you. That was helpful.
We removed that reverse noise immediately!
How tall are you and do you feel cramped when driving this unit?
Hopefully they come out with Fully Enclosed Golf Carts!
Please make more videos of this unit!
Can someone over 6 foot drive this unit without being cramped?
The seat doesn't go back but I think the tilt steering will help with the cramped feel.
@@tractortotrailOkay Awesome!
Is this unit available in different colors?
Do you run it off an electric power station? The big question is how many watts does it pull per hour. I've got 1000wh power station
Haven't tried it yet. I do have an ecoflow delta pro I'm going to use with it this summer. It's 3600w and my guess is 4-6hours depending how much and high I run it. Unfortunately I don't think 1000 will work. I will update after I test with delta pro
Awesome video!
How is the airflow on the qindow unit? I just built one and I'm wondering if I need in line fans. What do u think
It's probably going to depend how long your air duct is and how much you blocked up the inside. I ended up adding more foam to the inside so all the cold air is forced straight to the duct. I do use a fan inside the tent to circulate the cold air. I have a new topper set up and I plan to try this unit in it this summer. Last year I used a portable ac in it. It works great but takes up a lot of space inside.
i was told not to pack the mulch up to the plant stem, to leave about 2inches clearance to reduce risk of rot. What are your thoughts?
Yeah I was taught to stop where the green of the plant starts on the trunk or where the brown stops. Yes you should leave some space. I have not had any rot issues but mine are planted high on the mulch mound. We put mulch around them but most of it settles down. Main thing is to keep them high on your mound for good drainage.
I'm obsessed with the tiller usage and process on the grounds! Viewed, Liked, Shared, Subscribed!
Thanks
Could you or have you made a video of how you made this?
It's really just as simple as taking off the front cutting out a chunk to put the adapter through and taping it up. I used 3m HVAC tape and it worked good. Just what you see in the pics, it's that easy. Only thing you don't see is I filled the hole front cavity next to the adapter with foam. The foam directs the air more towards the circle adapter the dryer vent tube connects to.
really no need for adapters works fin on cat 1 pins
True
Not a metal spoon should be plastic or wooden 😢
Agree, but that's all I had.
And all this time I thought a Quick Hitch was supposed to be quick.😂 I was expecting you to just pull up snatch it up and pull away and not have to mess with any pins. 😂🤣
Some it might, but not with mine. Still not as bad as trying to hook up without one, even with the pins it makes the job so much easier.
I was taught that you shouldn't use a quick hitch with implements engaging the ground.
Theory makes sense; but hasn't given me any trouble. Stick with what you're used to and what works best for you.
Yeah never could figure out why and best I can tell is that there is a remote chance that it could break through the clamps or perhaps twist it. It was an old timer that told me so I didn't dare take a chansce. Ha!@@tractortotrail
Lol. That’s what it’s made for 🤔. I’d say whoever gave that advice is afraid of modern changes 😂
My tiller has a sticker rite on it that says quick hitch ready
Because he’s rich
Hahaha if that was the case I would have bought a new one and had it shipped to me
Good video. I have a raptor I want to purchase the tuff stuff. How high up is your bed rack? I don't want to go above the roof line!
Hey thanks. I don't have this set anymore but I think it was a 13 inch bed rack.
Great idea! I have a camper shell on my truck, do you think I could slide a window AC out of the side window?
I haven't seen any windows that would be big enough. Although I have seen some new AC units on the market with thinner exhaust vents that may work. I am running a topper now also and put a stand up unit inside and use a tube to vent it outside through the window.
@@tractortotrail thank you for replying bud! How the heck did you vent the exhaust out? Do you have pics, video or anything? That sounds like the perfect set up.
@@TheWeekndCamper yeah you can see it in a couple of the shorts videos we put on recently. Also got a few pics on our Instagram tractor_to_trail
Have you priced those gates latey? Shame they got destroyed.
Yeah price of everything is crazy lately. Yes they are bent but I got them bent back to close enough to use. So not totally lost😁
Would you mind telling me what is the height of your truck. Meo from the ground to the top of the roof.
It's an 8ft garage door opening and I'm 2 inches under it
@@tractortotrail Perfect. Thank you
@@tractortotrail Oh forgot to ask do you have a lift on the truck and if so what height
@@gaborsvagrik4754 yes but it's just the 2.5 in level kit with 35 in tires
@@tractortotrail Awesome thanks
Did you ever use just the unit in the annex
I've used just the portable ac on the annex but not the window unit. I'm going to be doing some more test this summer with my new camper set up. Which one do you want to see in action the window unit or the portable AC?
Was it pretty cool in the top when just using the ac in the annex
@@jacoblaychak3375 It was comfortable we had a box fan blow the cold air up.
Is there a way to completely seal the ducts to keep out bugs?
If you really needed to I guess put a cut piece of bug mesh screen over the exit on the ac before you connect the tubing. Just slide the tubing over it and lock it all together with a ring clamp.
@@tractortotrail Do you think its ok to cut the canvas tent and seal the ducts to the canvas? Surprisingly I cant find anything on this.
@@dinosanchez8528 I wouldn't. Zip a small towel in around where the duct goes in through the zipper part of the window to fill the gap
@@tractortotrail I wonder if polyfill or some other substance would seal it better than a towel
Does the ac run constantly? I assume the thermostat is on the unit itself?
Pretty much yes
Thanks for sharing. I bought a barefoot, but it only has two stems sticking up out of the plastic wrapping and they are dry and brittle no green to be seen. Does that mean the plant is dead? Will new stems develop
More than likely it's still in it's dormant stage. The root and base should have arrived moist. Most do arrive like twigs as long as moisture was present in shipping they should be good. I've even kept mine in the fridge a few days before planting and they did great. The key is to keep them from drying out before planting.
This is very helpful. Thank you ☺️
Glad to hear it, thanks.
no adapters needed with the speeco quick hitch
Thanks I'll check it out
I use a Ford 3000 diesel tractor with a 6 foot tiller it does a good job but I took a 2 plow and plowed my neighbor and my daughter and our gardens last fall so it will be a breeze to till Lord willing this year
That should have set you up nice. We are getting ready to put seed in for our spring no till garden.
Raise your frame higher that will tighten side walls
Thanks I don't have this tent anymore. But yes I found that out after set up. Still miss that annex room
So it looks like you lost the space to put up the awning poles for the windows. Have you remedied that?
Never did. I have since switched to another tent.
Did you have to shorten or buy a shorter PTO shaft to run the tiller? Or is that the stock shaft?
No I was able to use the one it came with.
@@tractortotrail Thanks!!
Remember with a quick hitch style hitch it pushes the tiller back another 4 inches or more. Without that I may have had to cut the pto shaft that came with the tiller.
Tractor Supply has the Class 2 & 3 adapter sleeves I use on My Rear Quick Hitch. They end up costing about the same but I transfer them from My implements like Box Blade, Scraper Blade, 5 foot Tiller and the Brush Hog I have the L-2501 HST also
Good to know thanks. I ended up welding up an adapter for the plow.
Great Video. I have a MF 17OOM, 48.8 Engine horsepower, 29.1 PTO horsepower. What USA made quick hitch would work on my tractor?
Thanks and not sure which is best for yours.... but I do know you'll be happy you got one when you do.
Get the Land Pride it works great!
Thanks man for the video. My friend has the ALPHA and loves it. I do like it but wanted a clamshell. Appreciate the video!!
Thanks for the kind words.
Good luck finding any new AC for $99 anymore.
That's the truth! I did see them for 129 but like everything else prices are up.
Thanks for sharing
Very nice job with the coop i am sure the l2501 helped alot i love my l2501
Yeah that was the fun part!
we switched our RTT mattress pad with 2- exped Megmat 10 air mattress that are all season. husband likes firm mattress I like a soft one. we can each get what we like. I sleep better then at home on my tempur-pedic. Love the exped!
I was thinking about doing that. I will have to look into those.
is this the alpha 2 tent?
It's the alpha tent
Hey I really like your rig and great video by the way! I am looking at getting the Adorak rack for my F150. I love the idea of an RTT. I’m in the process of deciding on a tonneau cover and wonder if with that rack I would be better to get a rolling cover instead of a flip cover so I can open up the entire bed while the rack is on. Any thoughts?
Thanks. Yes the rolling rack is the best bet. I would have gone that route but I already had the flip style.
@@tractortotrail Thanks for responding. Do you know if the Adarak M Series works with the Retrax Pro MC tonneau cover?
Can't say for sure if it would work or not.
Can you fit the Sleeping bag and the Ladder in there. Im debating on this or the iKamper
I can fit my wife's thick bag and my small one but no pillows arranged just right. Easily my thin bag a pillow and ladder. I keep the ladder in my truck bed. The Ikamper will definitely have more room. It's similar to my old tent. I only switched for the ht of the tent as it's even with my truck cab.
You could have turned the volume off and then added a voice over explaining what you are doing and what each pin does or what it's for. Is there a certain order of adding and removing pins? The camera was stationary and so far away, I couldn't tell what you were doing to what. Complete bummer.
Thanks for your input. Sorry it didn't help you. I didn't have an order for the pins and it might work different on your set up. Overall it's not that difficult just play around and find what works best for you.
I bought this same hitch as a novelty, I had to buy some adapters and I used it, WOW!!! it worked from day 1 on all my implements, my toughest one was my box blade, it's easy now, I don't know how to be without a quick attach anymore. Great video.
Thanks, I agree. I cringe thinking of all the times I struggled hooking up implements.
Who sells those adapters if I may ask? I am in the process of getting a tiller as well. Thanks
Dealer here now wants 22k for just tractor and front loader..says it went up 10 percent...HST is 24k
Wow, don't think it changed much either. Guess I'll be happy with mine for a while.
@@tractortotrail How much was your setup?
Those are the tires that are more easy on your turf/grass right??
I paid a little over 18k for a tractor and loader, almost 4 years ago.
@@donnyaldridge6452 Yes they are better on the grass. I tear it up a little if I turn to fast, but overall not bad.
