Praise be Jesus Christ! Now and forever! Thank you so much, Sister. I've never made scones before but you've inspired me to try. There are many parishes that offer "Soup with Substance" during Lent. I think we should call this video, "Scones with Substance" because of your humble presentation and beautiful faith-sharing conversation. Food for the body. Food for the soul! When I saw you bless the scones as they started baking, I thought of my dear mom who passed away 11 years ago on Christmas Day. She was a faith-filled woman who raised 9 children and always began and ended her day with prayer - especially the rosary. She would walk around the house with rosary in one hand and a jar of holy water in the other. As she entered each room, she would bless it with holy water and stop at our beds and bless us also. When we left the house for school, she would stand at the front door with her holy water and would make the Sign of the Cross on our foreheads as we passed by. When my dad retired, he and mom went to daily Mass at the Poor Clare Monastery a few minutes from their home. "Monastery of Saint Clare of the Immaculate Conception," in south St. Louis County, Missouri. My dad retired from his work at 65 and served Mass every morning at the Monastery until he was 88. He would have continued to serve but my mom had Alzheimer's, and he had to stay home and take care of her. Eternal rest to them. Just a side note, Our name is Donovan and our beloved ancestors came from County Cork.

They don't look all that poor. Reminds me of a summer job I had with my dad over fifty years ago. We were gardeners at a convent which housed a teaching order. Every lunchtime they sent us out our lunch, which was very good, and also supplied us with orange squash in wine bottles. They knew how to live.
