We have so many similarities. Both born with vacterl, both trans guys, and have cptsd and i'm also autistic. And we both realized we're trans before realizing we're possibly on the spectrum. It just... surprises me. In a good way. I mean some of it sucks yea, but it's nice to not be alone. I couldn't catch everything but good luck with your autism journey. It was books and people for me. I became an avid reader in 2015 and reading became my main interest. I kept relating to certain characters and those characters would have very different reactions from others. Either 1 Autistic people I noticed would go "So relatable! They are autistic like me!" and i'd see that again and again for characters I related to but then i'd see others read those same books and hate those characters, call them "so annoying!" and such, which hurt because I could only think "but... they are like me" and all the autistic people claiming them as autistic... I kept ignoring it because I had stereotypes about autism in my head and thought "no way am I autistic". I had such wrong ideas about autism. Finally I went "ENOUGH! I'LL LOOK INTO AUTISM ALREADY!" and then... oh... suddenly everything makes sense. If I never got a reading special interest I might never have figured it out. Then I read and looked up and watched autistic people on youtube etc. until (and after, still) to learn about it and realized, it fits me. I tend to look at people's mouths. Growing up I had no idea why it was so hard to look people in the eye and hear them at the same time, like, actually listen, but it was expected and I *can* look someone in the eyes but not if i'm expected to actually hear what they are saying at the same time. I can't do both. But man have I learned to fake it in my life. And growing up I was aware I struggled to do both but apparently no one else did that I knew of so I just thought I was dumb. I've only been on T for 4 1/2 months so far and at first it seemed like my ability to cry had dropped but i'm not sure that's the case anymore. At any rate I can still cry and I feel like I have all the same emotions. Granted i've always struggled to express them. I think I might get irritated easier now than pre-T. And sometimes get "dumb bastard" brain but i'm usually aware of that lol. Good luck with your journey :)

Of course a large part of it is I was treated by my dad and stepmom growing up as a burden. Due to my disabilities (and I now realize, also my undiagnosed autism) I was seen as "too much" and a burden. Then at 13 I realized i'm bisexual as well and that was also a no-no. To be trans as well was very hard to accept but my trans egg cracked at 30. Looking back at my life I have no idea how it didn't fully crack much sooner. I forced myself into denial. Then a couple years later the autism thing came to the "ENOUGH" and that was yet another thing on my "i'm too much and a burden" cake. I still feel "too much" and a burden but I don't know how to be anyone but me. And I know I shouldn't feel that way, it's just not that simple.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I found the image of practicing driving in an empty parking lot quite helpful in relation to giving these parts space to be seen and heard just as they are

I *Love* this video and your perspective! BTW, you seem to intuitively know *quite* a bit about IFS! Dick Schwartz PhD (the founder of IFS) created a fantastic audiobook through Tami Simon's Sounds True platform that suggests you actually DRAW the image of what each of your parts look like after you meet them in one of the meditations. I just finished listening to another vid of Dick (GREAT interview - again with Tami) as he recently wrote a book titled, "No Bad Parts" 😃😄😃 Again, you're right in alignment with the founder! Dick has mentioned shamanism having similarities with IFS in regards to the space where we find our parts (I believe), and there's a parallel to nonduality with the Self, too. It's all so rich... so many dimensions to IFS! I'm excited for the journey it takes us all on 😃
