Dan Tyminski Band- The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn- Bluegrass First Class (Griffis Guitar)
Gaven graciously played one of my guitars that evening. It's a Rosewood/Spruce. This was kind of a dream come true to me...one of my instruments in the hands of a master playing backup to one of my favorite singers. Please excuse the yelping woman, unfortunately we were not allowed to.

This is played on a resonator guitar that has solid mahogany back, sides and neck and a koa top. I apologize for the bad audio. It's still a great rendition by a master musician.

How Great Thou Art- Resonator Guitar (Dobro)
One of my all time favorite songs. Play it at my funeral
That may be the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen
Nice!
Love that song! Sounds great!
I wish my playing made women yelp. Stephen, I've never played rosewood/spruce. How does it compare to maple?
😂😂well, I guess when you put it that way… I sent you a message.
Wow sounds and looks amazing like usual! lol! I'd love to have one of the one day!
@TheTaylorPlayer thanks!!!
Sounds cool and looks cool!
@@billgreen6263 thank you!
Idrk what the instrument is (i dont play strings i play woodwinds) but it looks like a guitar mixed with a hang drum. Pretty cool, whats it actually tho?
Thank you. It’s called a resonator guitar (sometimes called a dobro). They were invented to be louder than an acoustic guitar. There is an aluminum cone under that black cover plate that works sort of like a speaker. It’s an acoustic instrument, though. Here’s some more info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resonator_guitar
@@griffisguitars2921wow thats pretty cool ngl, thx for the info, have a good day
I’m just glad my socks didn’t have any noticeable holes… 😂
😂
That Griffis looks and sounds amazing!
DUDE! I was just thinking about learning this. Did you transpose a tab of this? Great job, man. Was not expecting a lap steel version on UA-cam
Thank you!!! I did not do tab for it. Sorry. It’s in D tuning. DADF#AD. You can probably learn it pretty easily.
Great editing on your video and Very informative in how you solved the cracked timber -thanks
@@markh7523 thank you!!
So good to hear a fellow dobro picker!
Awesome Dobro
Wow beautiful!!!
Thank you so much!
Beautifully done! I envy your talent.
Thank you!
Sounds great!
Sounds beautiful great tone and sustain, thank you for sharing this podcast with us.
Thank you!
Great attempt
Says your wife after you fail to get her to Beulah land...again 😢
thats the easiest and best sounding video ive watched on how to make that " constant sorrow sound "on a dobro , good job !!!! i think people get lost with all the over explaining frets and junk , the sound is there and watching you do it out right just makes it simple where even an ol shade tree picker can go at it , Thanks !!!
I am shocked that it made any sound at all with that break in the ring and no sound posts. WOW!!
Looks as amazing as it sounds! Great work Stephen! Who's playing it?
Thanks, Mike! That’s Jeff Partin.
PRETTY SURE THE SUPREME COURT RULED ILLEGALS HAVE NO LEGAL RIGHTS IN AMERICA
NICE VIDEO
SOUNDS BRIGHTER, DID YOURS COME WITH THAT NECK, I GOT THE ONE WITH ROUND NECK
Thank you! This is really helpful!
church wood - so nice. There is just something special about it.
Absolutely fantastic
What a great inspired arrangement, just wonderful. Thanks.
Great job, love it
Beautiful playing lovely sound
Great video My dear friend😊
Great sound.
That was great.
He's feeling it in his soul.
Neat
“Red Wing”
There's something special about this one...
That’s the Eric Du Toit signature model
Very nice.
Pic that thang!❤
Where did you learn to play slide man? This is amazing, I have a lap steel, but I never really knew where to start.
I wish I could take credit for this clip but that is the great Jeff Partin. I personally learned a lot by being self-taught but then took Skype lessons from Mike Witcher. I would highly recommend lessons from Mike if you're serious about playing
That is a smooth sounding machine.
@@griffisguitars2921 Mike is the best. I got a lot of Skype lessons from him as well.
I would love to have one of these. Too bad they go for over $10,000 now. And that’s as cheap as you’ll fine one!
are there tabs for this?
Great job thanks
Thank you!
Gorgeous
Really cool, thanks for sharing. Cant believe it took 7 years for me to stumble into this. If I had shop space that nice I'd defo give an upgrade like that a go on my RD-51. But I think my eventual upgrade is going to just be whole new Beard or something similar, my black lightning sounds alright with fresh strings.
Wow! Great job! Glad I came across you, better late than never, I guess....
Thank you! A lot has changed since then but I still enjoy making them. I have made 75 now.
I got the same dobro but it's older.
