Waves at Scamander Beach Tasmania
The shoreline at Scamander is untouched and the energy of the Tasman Sea is hypnotic.

I Wish I Was In Glasgow by Billy Connolly
Переглядів 381 тис.8 років тому
This is a lo-fi video production of the song I Wish I Was In Glasgow. This one was done on a slow Sunday because I kept thinking of and missing Glasgow that weekend. Sometimes I miss it badly.
I think many of us can identify with the sentiments expressed in this song just by replacing Glasgow with our own town, mine is Sheffield, I now live in Ireland and miss the days of my youth. Thanks Billy.
My Granda’s funeral song . He was a top man
Peace to you. My dad was a Glaswegian. He and his brothers were hard as nails, soft as warm butter.
@ myself and my family are from Glasgow. My Granda done a lot of travelling with work and stuff when he was younger and lived all over the world but was always proud to be from Glasgow.
@@Superzest Walk tall
We went to Glasgow last month. It was the last stage of our tour up to Ness and William, Mallaig and Lomond, we visited Edinburgh and sat on the royal mile drinking wine in the glorious sunshine. I have to say we found absolutely nothing in Glasgow to visit, nothing. We will return to Scotland for certain but we will not visit Glasgow again, it's simply too boring.
PROUD TO BE A GLASWEGIAN ❤
Whit a load o keech! The last place that Connolly wants tae be is Glesca! A'h mind, he couldnae get oot o Glesca fast enough!
This will be my funeral song
Miss you so much ! ❤
i have a note written by my dearest departed mum who was born in Maryhill 1927. She and her younger sister were evacuated from Glasgow to a farm near Loch Lomond at the start of the 2nd World War. In her note she wrote; "I hated it, I missed my Ma I missed my Da and I missed ma beloved Toon so much. She wrote her Ma everyday begging her to bring her hame, which eventually she did.
Reminds me of my late father, Archy. He used to play this and we watched the quiet man every Sunday. X
This is the greatest ever song about Glasgow, and you wrote and sang it dear ole Billy. And you made me laugh through the 70's 80's and 1990's. We wish you well.
Wish I could live my days left in Glasgow xo
Thanks for posting this Paul. To my mind this is the best song Billy wrote and is the best version ever. He puts so much feeling into it and the words are perfect. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
Lived there for four years. Best city I’ve ever known
i am from Stoke, and worked as a miner, I miss the crack.
I’m still here in 2024
Read the real gorbals story next 😅
When I first heard this song many many years ago, I removed the word Glasgow and in its place was where I was born and raised. Then it all began to make sense. The song is universal and appeals to people everywhere. It reminds people of where they were born and raised. The video production may be lo-fi but its superb. Well done.
Thank you
For my beloved mother I lost her in February to dementia she was. A Glasgow girl 😢
God bless her.And you

Glasgow is the greatest hardest, city in the UK but its ppl are the warmest and friendly people in the world. Glasgows 850 yr old nxt yr Glasgows miles better ❤❤❤❤❤
Same age as Billy Connelly , was in the same class with him at school . Yes Glasgow did teach me more than it ever took away. So so true.
Same school but two years later for me.
I was born in the East End of Glasgow Meadowpark Street in Dennistoun don't remember much because i was that young but still remember a few things like Alexander Parade & the big park things like the Swallow cafe think there was a Italian ice cream shop can't remember. Only stayed there for P1 & P2 at ST Denis's before we moved away. No matter where i go in this world Glasgow will always have that little part in me
Maryhill Ya Bass.
I stay in Dennistoun
The song I listened to in my cabin when at sea for up to 14 months at a time and missing home
Nice one Michael.
🎉❤😊❤🎉
I'm sure this song would have an even greater poignancy to me were I actually from Scotland (I'm from the Oakland area in America) but I feel like these themes really transcend borders. There's a very universal feeling of "yeah, this town is a mean piece of shit place, but it's MY mean piece of shit place, and I wouldn't rather be from anywhere else". There will always be parts you don't like (like those special places to you getting torn down, something I'm very familiar with), but there's also the immense blessings to be alive and to be around those you come to know and love. Writing this from college, first long time away from home, and I hope everyone here feels like home is never too far away, at least in spirit.
It's one of the friendliest cities in the world ❤
It's OK. We have adopted you.
No place in thgis world like Glasgow ...Have travelled far & wide but when you get to Glasgow Central ... You are homE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love

Agree with everyone that this is a sublime piece by Billy ….. haunting and so powerful…….one of those covers of a song where the singer has made it their own…..would have been good to see the songwriter Iain Mackintosh credited
I love glasgow. Brings a tear to my eye what these snp charlatans in charge are doing to it
Beautiful song
Class these old school tunes from real men that worked the pubs clubs an stated in backs of vans not like these spoon fed wokes sadly acts like billy are lost today big cheers to the old boys of days gone bye
I was born and raised in Glasgow. Since then I have lived in many countries but Glasgow will always be in my heart.❤

Maryhill Young Team Ya Bas.
My mum was born in Glasgow. She chuckled when she heard the line about the building pulled down to build a road.
Most depressing song. Mr Connolly made his money and on first opportunity left for America and the sunshine. Left us to it yet still we managed. Mother Glasgow I am with you daily.
This song makes me so happy and sad at the same time wonderful song
Just beautiful. And wonderful.
