Great video! Other than wanting some closeups on things like testing the heating element and the removal of that fan coupler with the lock would have been nice. But you saved me hundred of bucks man! Much appreciated.

I realize video is 2 years old but ihave same dryer same problem. That part number brings up many compatible parts with a different number. I guess im fine with that but none of them indicate if they to come with that other tiny part he didn't use. My lint exit was clogged so i want to change that aswell , just incase.

Awesome vid, was able to get to and diagnose my issue! And much props to my appliance store clerk who helped me check these parts in a similar fashion, I said he needed a tip jar, $36 dollar fix to no heat all of a sudden. Was almost about to buy a whole new USED dryer again lol

Been There Done That ..repaired a case iron block where the governor centrifugal weight came through the block ..worked just fine ..JB weld great stuff .. make sure it's stored where it will not become frozen .

Appreciate the vid fellow DIY repairman, helped a lot with the same exact issue. Sadly when testing the upper thermostat i pulled the terminal off and with no solder I'm sure I'll order that and the timer. Hest coils check out fine as well as the lowet thermostat and thermal fuse, as well as the exhaust temp sensor. Where did you order the parts from, ebay, amazon?

Wasting your time. That motor has plastic cam gears and will fail anyway. It's not worth fixing. The block will crack again because of the poor design.

Man, your video is a God send. I bought a metal building kit very similar to this one. No instructions for the garage door. Lots of parts! How many ft. of that strut did you use for the installation? Thanks for sharing.

I have what I'd assume to be the exact same dryer, Roper model RED4640YQ0, died a few months ago. Actually just replaced every part BUT the timer for $20 bought on Amazon, and ofc it didn't work. Timer costs $68 on Amazon, don't have much choice but to try and hope for the best but I couldn't for the life of me unplug that smaller plug on top of the timer. Gonna try again tomorrow, but thx to you for making this video bc for all the help google is nobody else knew the timer was even a problem.

You'd be surprised how well good old JB weld can do on cracked cast aluminum. The funny thing is the more cheap Chinese the aluminum mixture, meaning the stuff some call potmetal or whatever, the better it sticks. But as with any weld NEVER SAND IT, just let it be. The more lumpy the stronger, and try drilling a small hole at the end of that crack to keep it from running.

What if it’s heating but it takes 2-4 times depending on the load to dry the clothes?

I have a hair line crack I think, its hard to tell, what does that temperature reader suppose to tell you ? never seen anyone do that before, I believe mine can be fixed to , not anywhere near as long as yours.. My engine mount screws work loose often that is what caused mine I know it did.. Is it still not leaking any? probably don't even have the mower now its been 4 years

Thank you for posting. This is a great video, informative without a lot of fluff. I am a very mechanical guy and now feel 100% sure I can do my own install. I have a 60x100x10 that is in the dry except garage doors It will be a 3 bedroom 2 bath with an open living-kitchen-dining area. Living will be 2200 sqft, 1800 sqft working space and about 2000 sqft for storage of tractor, implements and shop tools that are on wheels.

Does the door also need to be 2 inches taller, or just 2" wider? Also, is there anything else in particular that I should tell home depot to make sure that all the hardware is correct for a red iron install? I'll be ordering through milworks so I can't really choose the options from a menu. Thanks!

I'd much rather put a sectional door in, instead of the sheet style. I want to insulate the doors and you can only do that if there is a cavity for the foam that doesn't affect the door's operation.

cant see where you're placing the meter prods or what setting the meters supposed to be on, i bought all new parts and my dryer still wont heat

i have an analog meter , you're not showing what byou set it at or if the dryer is plugged in.
