Take a ride on my camera as I photograph a sprint car race at Williams Grove Speedway from several different locations, including in the pits, the infield, and on top of a hauler. It's easy to see how I average 1500 shots at every race! On this particular night I ended up with over 2000 photos total, with a little over 100 of them being suitable for publishing online. I apologize in advance for...

Man …… they just don’t make em like that anymore and that is sad. I can see them becoming mammoth in size in order to hold the whole crew internally and safely……. But what happened to the style, the lines and the grace these older rigs had. Now they ALL look like a screaming loaf of bread coming at you ! And what about the lights….. Yes the LEDs are bright and cool, but why have they moved away from the rotary beacons and the MARS lights ! It’s those lighting systems that made the older rigs spectacular ! Being an electronics technician for many years, you can’t hand me that old line that they break too easily or burn out……. They can be made to not be that way these days. I wish they would run with the designs they have today and put “Style” back into them like they once had.

This rig made it to over 20,000 alarms when it served with us in the FDNY when it was Engine 61 before it became Squad 61 in ‘98, when I was an intern from 2001-2004 I had a chance of riding with Squad 61 to a 3rd alarm fire on Williams Bridge Road in The Bronx back in February of ‘03 just 3 weeks after my grandfather retired from the FDNY, my grandfather’s final firehouse for when he was a battalion chief was Engine 79 Ladder 37 and Battalion 27 and he was in the 27 Battalion from ‘97-‘03 he responded to the World Trade Center on 9-11-01 as an off duty battalion chief, his firehouse was already down there and that also goes for me as well because they had a total recall for all off duty members of the FDNY PAPD and NYPD to report to the World Trade Center as soon as possible once my 26 other friends and myself reached the blazing tower we saw the second aircraft go into the second tower and we had no clue of what was going on. We got extremely concerned because we learned we were under attack and we just had flashbacks of what happened on 2-26-93 when a 10 foot yellow Ryder van driven by 2 Islamic terrorists used a 1500 pound bomb with 800 pounds of TNT to bomb the underground parking garage at the World Trade Center, firefighter Kevin Shea from Rescue 1 fell a few stories down in the destroyed parking garage and he was forced to retire immediately after that which was also in ‘93, he joined the volunteer fire department in ‘78 and became a firefighter ‘84, his lieutenant in charge of the rescue Paddy Brown did a search with his men to find Kevin Shea, they found him in the destroyed level B2 of the underground garage, Tim Lang of the Port Authority was also injured he was immediately forced up into the air when the bomb exploded and thrown back down to the ground with terrific force, he had a major gash on the rear of his head and blood was oozing out from the large gash he sustained from the impact of the throw down from the force of gravity, on March 4th 1993 Muhammad Salame and his other terrorists were arrested and charged with destruction of buildings and 1st degree murder on 6 civilians, a year later they were all found guilty of destruction of buildings and 1st degree murder on 6 civilians and each were sentenced to 240 years in prison, in 1995 Romsey Yusuf and Eod Ismoil were also arrested and were charged with the same charges, they were both sentenced to life in prison in 1997, their leader Fashiek Abdel Omar Rockmod was arrested and charged for sedition and sentenced to life in prison in 1996, in 2002 Osama Bin Laden was arrested and charged with murder on authorities and civilians as well as destroying public property which were aircrafts and buildings forcing someone to join his religion and military groups muder on that terrorist Ziod because he never wanted to be a terrorist in the first place and first degree murder on numerous amounts of civilians pilots first officers and flight crew members he was sentenced to death of in 2011 for his numerous crimes, anyway in 2003 I ridden with Squad 61 to a building fire like I mentioned, turns out it was a smoking frying pan like the smoking frying pan incident 2 years earlier that called Rescue 3 to the scene, we went 10-8 and returned to quarters on Williams Bridge Road in The Bronx and then we get a call 5 minutes later to a 10-75 in a corner store on Bainbridge Avenue and East 206th Street in the Norwood section of The Bronx, 12 companies and 11 chiefs responded, this included out the 14 companies: Engine 79 Ladder 37, Squad 41, Squad 61, Rescue 3, Engine 96 Ladder 54, Engine 92 Ladder 44, Engine 90 Ladder 41, Engine 42, Engine 48 and Ladder 56, the chiefs in the 11 of them were: Battalion 27, Division 7, Battalion 17, Battalion 14, Battalion 18, Battalion 19, Battalion 20, Battalion 15, Battalion 12, Battalion 13, Battalion 16, and Battalion 3, they did end up adding Engine 69 Ladder 28, Engine 93 Ladder 45, Engine 94 Ladder 48, Engine 63 Ladder 39, Engine 60 Ladder 17, Engine 45 Ladder 58, Engine 35 Ladder 14, Engine 52 Ladder 52, Engine 62 Ladder 32, Engine 71 Ladder 55 Division 6, Engine 73 Ladder 42, Engine 95 Ladder 36, Engine 81 Ladder 46, Engine 36, Engine 46 Ladder 27, RAC 3, Engine 91 RAC 1, Engine 53 Ladder 43, Engine 70 Ladder 53, Engine 88 Ladder 38, Engine 38 Ladder 51, Engine 72 Satellite 2, Engine 89 Ladder 50, Engine 50 Ladder 19 Battalion 26, Engine 83 Ladder 29, Engine 68 Ladder 49, Engine 37 Ladder 40, Engine 80 Ladder 23, Engine 76 Ladder 22 Battalion 11, Engine 22 Ladder 13 and Battalion 10
