    @DudeSawdust thanks for the lesson. You forgot the most important don't. Don't forget to wear a respirator when cutting mdf. It's made with formaldehyde...Definitely use dust collection too. Personally I prefer to use real wood. It's called ship lap because it's supposed to look like the inside of a ship.

      Since I will only be using it for designing and not prolonged use I think the solution is to turn it off in between usage. I hadn't really considered it until getting these comments. Some thing to think about for sure

      Good question. xTool sent me this laser and purifier. Less than a month later they came out with the new purifier.

      @@DudeSawdusthey there! John is on to something here. I just want to give you a heads up that old one is not only crap compared to the new one - but that one is actually a health hazard if you’re going to be doing any material on that laser other than simple plywood. I would hit up support from them and ask them to upgrade your filter they sent you to an AP2 ESPECIALLY since you did such an amazing brand based promo style build repping them. Once you get into the lasers they have to offer, ESPECIALLY how they add eas to a woodworkers life with the precision they add - you’ll wanna get all the machines and xtool is really good about setting up UA-camrs with free machines.

    wouldnt the solution to be to connect the laser to wifi and use the computer in the house?

      Then you have to run back and forth for any changes, hitting the go button the laser, resist the temptation to go back to the PC for the next thing while one is running, etc.

    1-1/2" nails won't cut it. Shiplap is 3/4', drywall is 1/2" only leaving 1/4' in stud. Use 2' nails, been doing this for 44 yrs.

    I love the computer in the drawer idea but remember computers and notepads need to be cooled. I think that foam is the worst thing you can do

      ​@@DudeSawdustEven if you don't see obvious issues, the internal components will have their life shortened. If you charge while in there it will be even worse. I'd remove the foam and put something with airflow in it's place (or probably better a solid platform) raising it to your desired height.

      While you are technically right that airflow would be better, these machines put off next to no heat even when doing quite a bit of work and they don’t have any active cooling. The cooling comes from the body of the laptop which goes through the top and bottom of the aluminum case acting as a kind of heat-sync. While it would technically be better, I think for a computer like this doing simple 2d designing I am not sure that the effect to the longevity would be outside of the margin of error.

    Good summary. Personally I would go a little further and rabbit the side trim so that the shiplap floats behind the edge trim leaving only a 1/4" reveal. The shiplap won't look like it's been framed. I'm assuming the shiplap is 9/16" thick and a 5/8" rabbit along the edge of some 3/4" poplar would look a little cleaner imo.

      Yes, a bit all over the place. In many of my videos I tend to not go into too many details about measurements since most people tune out when that is the topic. I think the idea is to obtain an idea and make the measurements that suits the viewer if they want to build something similar. If I think its a project that lots of people would want to build then I typically create build plans. Thanks for watching!

    I've been using this drill for a couple of years now with no complaints. I have never taken it off the lowest speed even though I mostly drill small diameter holes in wood. Today, I decided to drill on a bevel. Duh! Luckily I scoped out your video to find out why I couldn't make the adjustment. I suspected that the smaller bolt was a 0 deg. de-tent but didn't realize what take to get it out. I plan to give it a quick brush with some 600 grit and push it back in to keep me at "top dead center" but still be able to get it out of there easier when I want to. Either way, thanks for doing this video, great help!!

      @@DudeSawdust I put the smaller stud in the drill chuck and touched the smooth bit with a fine file and then the 600 grit. Slides in and out of it's original seat with just a bit of force.     It looks like one of your cats is polydactyl! Of course this makes feet look even bigger. My aunt has always had Maine Coons and "Boomer" was 27 pounds and his K-9 teeth looked like a saber tooth tiger!! Thankfully this breed is very docile! beautiful build and gives me food for thought about where I want to take my woodworking business.

    Thank you!!! I’m a beginner woodworker & I’m also a sewist. I don’t have an edge band trimmer but I DO have a rotary fabric cutter!! *pro tip* I buy my rotary blades from harbor freight- they’re carpet cutter blades! $0.99 for 2!! Then you don’t have to use the same blade for veneer & your wife’s fabric :)
