Its cool how we can both appreciate all the same things from beta 1.7.3, yet for very different reasons. You seem to like beta because it was more balanced. And you want the game to be balanced combat wise so more combat content can be added that's actually fun and has a reason to exist because it's well.. balanced. Whereas I like the 1.7.3 gameplay purely because it incentivices you to engage in the sandbox more. I think everything in minecraft should be in service of minecraft being a sandbox game that doesn't complicate things and doesn't get in your way. People complain that minecraft needs more bosses, needs more weapon variety, needs more progression, more late game content. I feel it's quite the opposite. Minecraft isn't an RPG snd all this 'late game content' only serves to power creep the player to a point of enemies being pointless and it chasing extrinsic goals and progression like that only distracts you from the survival SANDBOX the game is meant to be. Minecraft isnt terraria. 1.7.3's limited block palette, the need to build defenses from the mobs that you can't outrun, lack of fast transport options other than building rail infrastructure, really push you to build. You need to build to defend yourself, and you need to build to get around. Which is the whole point in my opinion. Minecraft is better at incentivesing you to build when it has less content to distract you, paradoxically. The amount of times i try to play minecraft and I spend 2 weeks playing, and spend most of that getting decent armour, collecting all different kinds of blocks like different terracotta, all the different types of wood. And then the immense amount of detail you can add to builds now in modern minecraft, but its all very very very time consuming. I rarely ever finish more than 1 house in Minecraft these days. My last world i spent 2 weeks gathering all kinds of materials. And 2 weeks building. Nitpicking every detail and every block used, considering alternatives. Maybe i'm just a perfectionist, but 6-9 hours a day for 2 weeks, with a friend helping, and I had'nt finished the house is ridiculous. Back when builds were simple, wood planks, stone, stone brick, cobblestone, you could actually finish a build in a reasonable amount of time. The builds weren't as pretty, but the abstract and simple nature of beta builds meant you could just be creative and finish builds and not get burnt out. I only see people build 1 cottage then get bored these days. Back in the day people build huge cobblestone castles and wool statues, and filled entire worlds with builds. Basically everything about beta, paradoxically, incentives building when modern minecraft tries to distract you from it with other goals and makes enemies not something you need to build to defend yourself from. Minecraft's simplicity and survival aspects are its strength. And I think modern minecraft has lost both.

With this video you've basically just shouted out to the world, "I have low hours on this game and here's the proof!" Besides this, I fundamentally disagree with what you said in the heavy segment and there's a lot of just saying theoretical stuff without actually thinking what goes on in an actual game. "If a heavy steps into a room you're already in you just die" is just not true, 3 rockets or less rockets with some shotgun mixed in, 3 pipes, scout just shooting him and moving unpredictably, or spy just trickstabbing him can all fix the problem. Heavy is huge and slow and does sustained damage that requires him to always have his crosshair on you, meanwhile most other classes do high burst damage that outclass his way of dealing damage most of the time. The "500 close range dps" you bring up is a red herring, a heavy is not always going to be point blank firing at you while you're helpless to defend yourself, and if he is close to you, just move around and the problem is nearly taken care of. At mid to long range heavy isn't as good as you say and you definitely don't need to "respect and take cover" against a heavy when he is at the place you're firing at 6:44 and you're at the house or even on the point. Valve doesn't need to make him "more tanky and lower his dps" because he just becomes an annoying roadblock at that point. Imagine some giant thing you make only a dent in even dealing 100 damage per shot and him peppering you with damage. What would that do overall for fighting him or playing him? Heavy does do amazing damage in close range and even then shooting someone at a distance can be a good tool for deterring enemies from engaging with you, but to say he is unkillable or overpowered and needs to be changed isn't true. Also, if you don't think Heavy is fun you're entitled to hold that opinion, but don't hold it on a pedestal thinking that it's an overall negative for the class just because you find being slow boring. Why would Heavy need to be faster, have "movement tech" or have his role diluted with an official subclass? Heavy is a defense specialist, he hunkers down in a spot and can hold it very well. He doesn't need to be speeding all over the place because combining that with a high damage minigun would not be fun to fight against. Heavy has variety in his primaries and even more if you consider what to combo with his secondaries and melees. Some options are bad but every class has a bad option for a slot. It's amazing how every youtube video that contains complaints about heavy cry about him not having variety or options either say nothing in terms of what options to give or provide things that would be broken like letting him move around fast, or diluting his playstyle into whatever gimmick they think sounds fun without actually ever being tested. Although, I don't know what I expected from someone who defends pyro and engineer as their top 2 favorite classes.

me and some friends were actually talking about medic, and there's something else i want to point out out of medic's three slots, two are basically already picked out for you - his primary (crossbow) and his melee (ubersaw). like if you're not using those... what are you doing. I know that there are arguments regarding use for the syringes or other melees, but honestly, they feel a lot more situational and i can't really imagine anyone actually wanting to pick those over these two unless they must. I feel like medic could be a lot more fun if they gave his other weapons at least a little bit more edge, not enough to overrule classes meant for battling but at least enough to give him some more options rather than just "heal, run, defend" at least his mediguns have great variety
