So-called "Cantinflas" was born Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes, which was too many names. So-called "Shirley MacLaine" was born Shirley MacLean Beaty. So-called "Peter Lorre" was born László Löwenstein. So-called "George Raft" was born George Ranft. So-called "Gilbert Roland" was born Luis Antonio Dámaso de Alonso, which was too many names. So-called "Fernandel" was born Fernand Joseph Désiré Contandin, which was too many names. So-called "Trevor Howard" was born Trevor Wallace Howard-Smith, which was too many names & hyphenated. {Why would anyone, ESPECIALLY a man, put an unnecessary hyphen in their name. So-called "Ronald Adam" was born -Ronald George Hinings Adams, which was too many names. Bottom line: some things in life are better left alone and more important than money & vanity. One of them is your birth name, that always should be respected. The only exception, of course, would be when women get married & add their husband's last name to theirs
