Very interesting to see how different this Fogg is compared to the 2021 TV show. The main point of doing a reboot of a show or an adaptation of a book is to bring something different
I grew up with the 2004 Steve Coogan and Jackie Chan version, (which was really beautiful to look at and loads of fun) but since i have recently become a David Niven fan, I've got to see this version some time
@@peterkosmas9518 The two are very, VERY different. in the Jackie CHan one, unsurprisingly, Jakie Chan is the main character, yet he plays passepartout. So the journey around the world, whcih is the main plot in the original, is a side plot in the Jackie Chan version. And of course, it is an action comedy, rather than the more serious versions of Niven and Brosnan.
Over forty percent of the performers in the "Around the World in 80 Days" movie sold-out their birth names to shallow & deceitful 'Hollywood'. It also shows how so many people were ashamed of their heritage and caved-in to greedy agents, managers, & studios with notions of greater recognition & monetary gains. So-called "Cantinflas" was born Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes, which was too many names. So-called "Shirley MacLaine" was born Shirley MacLean Beaty. So-called "Peter Lorre" was born László Löwenstein. So-called "George Raft" was born George Ranft. So-called "Gilbert Roland" was born Luis Antonio Dámaso de Alonso, which was too many names. So-called "Fernandel" was born Fernand Joseph Désiré Contandin, which was too many names. So-called "Trevor Howard" was born Trevor Wallace Howard-Smith, which was too many names & hyphenated. {Why would anyone, ESPECIALLY a man, put an unnecessary hyphen in their name. It's also pretentious & ludicrous}. So-called "Victor McLaglen" was born Victor Andrew de Bier Everleigh McLaglen, which was too many names & had a lower case letter, which looks stupid. So-called "Jack Oakie"was born Lewis Delaney Offield. So-called "Alan Mowbray" was born Alfred Ernest Allen. So-called "Tim McCoy" was born Timothy John Fitzgerald McCoy, which was too many names. So-called "Harcourt Williams" was born Ernest George Harcourt Williams, which is too many names. So-called "Walter Fitzgerald" was born Walter Fitzgerald Bond. So-called "Keye Luke was born Luk Shek-kee, which had an unecessary hyphen & lower case letter, which looks stupid. So-called "Walter Kingsford" was born Walter Pearce. So-called "Reginald Denny" was born Reginald Leigh Dugmore. So-called "Robert Cabal" was born Harold Christopher McColgan. So-called "Luis Miquel" was born Dominquin Luis Miguel González Lucas which was too many names. So-called "Martine Carol" was born Marie-Louise Jeanne Nicolle Mourer, which was too many names & had an unnecessary hyphen. So-called "Ronald Adam" was born -Ronald George Hinings Adams, which was too many names. Bottom line: some things in life are better left alone and more important than money & vanity. One of them is your birth name, that always should be respected. The only exception, of course, would be when women get married & add their husband's last name to theirs
My friend, you are making up stories. Changing your name is not a sellout, as you say, it is merely a way for a performer to make it easy for the general public to pronounce their name and be remembered easily by all involved. To think it is anything else is delusional. For a director, agent, public relations firm, or the public to remember "Cantiflas," rather than Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes is obvious to the simplest of minds. Many people who are not actors or famous in Hollywood and around the world have changed their names for all sorts of different reasons. And those same people are very respective and extremely proud of their heritage. Take an aspirin, you'll be fine in the morning. Simply Hilarious comment you made!! LOL!! 🤣😆🤣
RIP Cantinflas 30 years without him....
Cantinflas(RIP)speaks English for the first time in the 1956 film

I love passpartout
