Приєднався 22 жов 2021
Mark Devaney is best known for his work with FIAT Dino repair and restoration but as you will see his interest doesn’t stop there. Obsession with classic ABARTH started with his Autobianchi A112 ABARTH, in fact the whole Italian car interest started with that one ! Now heavily involved with classic Maserati restoration and Ferrari. There’s plenty to see on the channel mechanical and body repair. Manufacture of body work and replication of missing parts.

Bologna by night and it could have been a film location from The Third Man !
But you’re here for the cars and the Auto Moto d’Epoca show. Maserati was born in Bologna so let’s have a look at the Maserati stuff.

Auto Moto d’Epoca Bologna 2024

Auto Moto d’Epoca was known as the Padova show but it made the move to Bologna last year. Last year was a great success and this year was even better. As much as I miss Padova I am enjoying exploring Bologna. I took the Leica with me. So this is sort of a photo essay. Just my photos. But I did take some video so next week we will show you that with a little bit of voice over.

The Black Ghibli is rather special. It’s a 4.9 pre SS special order with tobacco interior. A restoration was started by a previous owner but never finished many parts are missing and a lot of the work on reassembly has needed to be revised because it really isn’t good enough. In fact to be honest it looks like it was just thrown together so that it looked more complete. This was the reason for ...

FIAT Dino Spider rear floor pans are shorter than those of the Coupe. They are rather valuable to rust and tend to corrode from the inside due to leaks from the roof. The Coupe gives far less problems here. I have made plenty of Spider floors in the past and can see that there will be plenty more in the future. With this in mind I have decided to develop my tooling for greater detail and repeti...

I have made lots of trim pieces for this Maserati all hand formed in brass just like they did at the factory. Once chrome plated you really can’t tell them apart from factory original. This is a different edit of an old film that I think is worth revisiting. I hope that you enjoy it!

Performance of ROMA was feeling a little blunted. Investigation proved that on acceleration one throttle pump was not working. Which I guess would equate to a 30 percent drop in performance on initial acceleration. That’s enough to notice! All power restored now. Enjoy the film.

FIAT FRIDGE FETISH ! What on earth is he going on about now ! I have many vices one of which is collecting vintage vices. Переглядів 5463 місяці тому
FIAT Dino Coupe window wipers are the clap hands style. Many Italian cars also use them so this repair might just be of use for owners of other cars. The FIAT Dino Spider has wipers of the more conventional style and are of a totally different design. You can see how the Coupe style works and how I fixed them.

It looks really great - so nice to know we'll be enjoying Dinos for decades to come.
@@EnglishroG Thank you. They are worth saving !
The white Mistral I believe is a 1964 model. I owned in 1971 a Lancia Flavia Berlina, targata Roma 701964, and it was a 1964 model year car.
@@domtoni4567 Yes it does look like an early car and I guess it’s the original targa . Thanks for sharing
According to the federal HESCHLAVVO law, it is already forbidden in Switzerland to drive combustion engines on mountain passes from 2025!!!
Beautifully produced, thank you for your trouble.
@@stephenlmckeown1439 Thank you. More next week.
In typical Italian fashion, Maserati's are so cool and stylish. Always loved those old Quattroporte's.
@@NJRacer623 Yes I am a big fan of the early QP especially this one !
I’ll ask the question, Lamborghini and Ferrari were always trying to outdo one another, we know the background to that one, where did Maserati fit to the market , beautiful as they are were they less temperamental to drive , they seem more aristocratic.
@@martinclapton2724 In the late 50s through to the end of the 60s Lancia were known for exceptional quality but under powered for the gentlemen who is not in a hurry. Alfa Romeo sporting pedigree but now looking to be the best of the mass market. Weekend racers and the middle class who want to feel like a sportsman. Ferrari if you want to win and to show everyone that you can afford it at any price. Still a young company.Anyone who can afford it including the gentleman in a hurry ! Lamborghini no racing pedigree for playboys and pop stars. A gentleman ‘ god forbid !’ Well perhaps for the mistress ? FIAT for Everyman especially in the city . We all love FIAT no class aspirations and your incognito. Maserati the Italian racers and in Italian racing red represents Italy. We don’t go racing anymore but we can still sell you a racing car and the best GT on the market. Didn’t matter if it was true or not because everyone believed in it ! So for the sporting gentlemen who have nothing to prove. Oh and Bond villains ! Also the world’s fastest 4 door ! Can be reliable if well cared for.
And I would have one of each if I could !
Wonderful pictures of dream cars. What I always dislike on these shows is the bored look of the very important staff members of the ehibition stands, busily typing on cell phones in their hands, while their faces say: "Don't you dare to adress to me."
@@moritzhummel9747 I have experienced some of that but thankfully not everyone has that type of aloof attitude. There are plenty of real enthusiasts running their own businesses and I was encouraged that so many of the parts traders were young and enthusiastic. Not to mention that lovely girl who was on the GTO stand, new to the old car scene full of energy and excitement for the events . Those who are showing their disdain for the public, I have found usually no nothing about the product that they are offering !
Great video Mark, there were a few trident badged cars there. I loved the white Ghibli and the blue green 3500 GT Spyder Vignale. I couldn't believe how many Dinos were there especially246's. Happy days!
@@tonysangwine-gould4733 Thank you. Next week we will look into some of the other delights of the Bologna show. Great Maserati’s on show but that Abarth is stirring something. All special cars in its own way. Great video. Thanks

@@maseraticc2834 Yes it was wonderful, it always is . Maserati in abundance but lots more which we will cover next week. Now I love a Ferrari 250 Lusso but that green Mistral for me just out classed that row of red ones. I would have taken the green Mistral and the red ABARTH Round tail. Also the stolen Quattroporte. Over the Ferrari stuff . And with the change I would be able to take a year off, campaigning the ABARTH it the Italian historic hill climb championship. Hey Mark, it's Jonnie Byford. Wanna say you've got a flippin' good site up here on UA-cam. I found this Auto Moto d'Epoca Bologna 2024 'cause you only uploaded it a couple of days ago - and it was great to see the Lambrettas on the video. Btw, I visited your house again since I dunno where your garage is anymore. Your wife Fiona told me she'd mentioned I came round a week ago and you're just very busy, but we had a brief chat. I've got a son who's 13 too (as well as a ten year old!) But back to Lambrettas, I totally understand you don't wanna sells yours (at £2,500 cash) but if you hear of one for sale locally, or change your mind, please put me first on your list of prospective purchasers. I'm desperate for an autumn project but would have to travel to check 'em out, then go back again with a Transit van. I could be absent for a while with my family but you've got my number: 07546 565505. Would always be good to catch up sometime, I've got some fond memories of the old days. @marksitaliangarage hello Mark. Yes, I agree. I'm no mechanic but want to 'potter'. With the fan motor, will you thoroughly clean and detail prior to refitting? With my coupe, I have to be sensible with expenditure against overall value. I try to keep it as a good runner with fair appearance. Paul
@marksitaliangarage by the way, got to you through the classic and sports car article
@ I don’t think it’s going to be necessary to do anything more with the fans. Just need them functioning. I might yet fit something more efficient like a Kenlowe .
someone knows where to buy leather color tobacco for interior Fiat Dino 2.0 1968?
Great job Mark. I know some/many parts of the 60s Maserati and Aston Martin models were shared - were these fans one of those shared parts?
@@maseraticc2834 I’m not sure about these fan motors. I think they are Italian. But I have seen Lucas fans that look similar so I don’t know.
This weekend i bought a 1957 Fiat 1100 B. The fan that demist the windows is really weak. I dont know if it works like normal or if its just week from old age or corroded wire connections or bad bearings or dried up grease in the bearings. Any idea what to check first? Sadly it have ended up as a daily driver cause the poor Sierra P100 is so rusty and i dont want to do a bad job patching it.
@@myshopmyrules.3017 well done on your new perches a great little car ! Take the fan out and dismantle it glean every bit including the shaft and bushes lubricant and bench test . Then work through the wiring. I bet it will be loads better.
Great video Mark, as always. I do love to see old stuff being mended. But then again..I had a Ghibli for 20 years..look at those fan blades (actually yours look much better than the original ones on mine), no matter what nick the motors are in, they're never going to move much air. Especially if there's an air-con condenser in the way. Arguably the best thing I did (for peace of mind anyway) was to install a SPAL 16" single modern fan in the middle of the radiator and never worry again. Those nIce-but-ancient Ducellier motors and salad-plate fan-blades went into a box for the next owner. Originality is crucial, I know, but when it's 30°C, you're cruising at 75mph, then suddenly off the motorway into a traffic jam.... you're glad of some 21st century cooling and a hidden override switch. No?
@@srlane61 That’s a good point I might see if I can find room for one. Still just at the reassembly stage. Trying to figure out what is missing or not working.
