Mark's Italian Garage
United Kingdom
Приєднався 22 жов 2021
Mark Devaney is best known for his work with FIAT Dino repair and restoration but as you will see his interest doesn’t stop there. Obsession with classic ABARTH started with his Autobianchi A112 ABARTH, in fact the whole Italian car interest started with that one ! Now heavily involved with classic Maserati restoration and Ferrari. There’s plenty to see on the channel mechanical and body repair. Manufacture of body work and replication of missing parts.

Fiat Dino update
FIAT Dino inner wing construction has a complex structure that is susceptible to rust. Now there’s a surprise ! The real problem is that the sheet steel is laminated in many areas to create structural integrity for the suspension, steering and engine support. Moisture can get trapped between the steel laminated surfaces and well you know how it goes. It’s simply just the way sheet steel bodies are made and it’s not just FIAT that do it! I have been working on this spider so let’s have a look at the progress. This will help you to understand how the FIAT Dino is constructed.

How to make Dino floors.
Переглядів 43928 днів тому
You are never going to run out of work fixing FIATS and then there’s the rust! I have been refining my knowledge on how the panels should be. Every time I work on a Dino I discover more information. The thing is that so often the car has already been repaired and in replacing the old rusted out sheet steel the original shape has been lost. Short of dismantling a rust free car there’s no way of ...
Maserati Water pump.

The Ghibli project is progressing. You may recall that it was a car that was being restored in France but had changed hands during that process. This means that it don’t know what has been done to it. Some parts are missing so I am making what I can’t find. The engine has been rebuilt but it became clear that the water pump was in need of attention. In typical Maserati style it is very much the...

Angelo and Gigina Necchi left La Scala and emerged in to the Milanese fog, so thick that it obscured the Duomo. The headlights of their Isotta Fraschini cast an eerie glow but for an unknown reason they gave their driver instructions to leave without them. Walking through the fog they became lost and found themselves in an undeveloped suburb. A derelict garden a real waste ground caught your im...

Auto Moto d’Epoca was known as the Padova show but it made the move to Bologna last year. Last year was a great success and this year was even better. As much as I miss Padova I am enjoying exploring Bologna. I took the Leica with me. So this is sort of a photo essay. Just my photos. But I did take some video so next week we will show you that with a little bit of voice over.

The Black Ghibli is rather special. It’s a 4.9 pre SS special order with tobacco interior. A restoration was started by a previous owner but never finished many parts are missing and a lot of the work on reassembly has needed to be revised because it really isn’t good enough. In fact to be honest it looks like it was just thrown together so that it looked more complete. This was the reason for ...

Dino Floor
Переглядів 1,5 тис.3 місяці тому
FIAT Dino Spider rear floor pans are shorter than those of the Coupe. They are rather valuable to rust and tend to corrode from the inside due to leaks from the roof. The Coupe gives far less problems here. I have made plenty of Spider floors in the past and can see that there will be plenty more in the future. With this in mind I have decided to develop my tooling for greater detail and repeti...

I’ve always preferred the svelte coupe.
@@stevestone4346 It was the Coupe that got me into the Dino stuff.
Beautiful.
Beautiful fit on that door skin, and I think they look so much better without mirrors . Incredible skills you have. So enjoyable.
@@stevestone4346 I do prefer to make a new door skin and then replace the damaged one. Rather then letting in a lower section as you don’t get the problem of tin canning.
What an absolutely stunning job, the car looks fabulous. I actually prefer the coupe to the spider. Great video. Thanks.

@@christopherbartek3864 University motors are the Stratos people ! I didn’t big it up in the video but if you look into their history you will see just how important they are ! I did write about it in the video discussion. But what I especially like is that they are just as interested in the little Renault. My dad owned one of these when I was a kid, he sold it around 1990. his actual car is now in beaulieu motor museum. Got lots of photos of it. My favourite is us driving out of Lake Coniston. He did briefly own a second car which he bought for some parts he needed and sold on to a bloke who intended on restoring it. Great vid 👍
@@voodoochild800 That’s great. There is more on the channel about the Amphicar. A good video of going down the river Medway with a group of Amphibious cars.
Ah beautiful 600! I got a Zastava 750s here in Germany and oh boy she does not like winter at all. It's an endless game of searching potential rust and soaking it in a thick coat of fluid film.
oh and also the heater smells a bit toxic 😆
@@rocketsock4297 I don’t actually drive the 600 very often as it is a one owner car from Florence , unrestored original paint with only 23000 km from new. So to preserve it I feel that I should not really use it much. I spent longer cleaning it underneath than driving it in the snow. I do enjoy driving it . They are lovely cars . Have you seen the videos about the blue one that was found in a scrap yard on the channel ?
@@marksitaliangarage Yes! The dented 600 was what brought me to the channel. You mentioned the ragtop kit and i only found the Legacy one from the US. My Zastava seems to have been brought back to life from different cars put together and the roof has a big crack where the paint opens up so i thought about the ragtop kit aswell. For now the roof rack and rally stripe hides it well but it might be a nice option. Mostly use the little gem for summer driving around town, it gets a bit slippery in the wet and on ice 😆.
