The death rattle is something I hope I never have to experience again. It's the only time throughout the whole palliative care process where I had completely given up all hope and was praying my uncle would die and let it be the end for him. The only comfort is knowing it is a natural thing and that he wasn't in any discomfort or pain from it.

This is so sad...My wife and I talk about this time to time. I understand it's a part of life, but knowing that I will see loved ones, probably my parents and others is really hard to imagine. Then myself will have to cross through at some point. We have to great right with God everyday in our hearts. We just don't know when that time will be, have to be prepared.

At 70 years old I developed chronic pancreatitis which is painful. For 70 days I was given opioid's and I'm not addicted. I could've used a few more weeks for the pain but the doctors refused to prescribe so I used Tylenol and methocarbamol to relieve the pain. That worked some but not enough. I'm finally ok and almost pain free. One interesting part of using opioids while in deep pain, for me, was that I never felt any euphoria, just relief from pain.
