Aruba's biggest Pagara! 6 Million Firecrackers going off along LG Smith Blvd...New Year's Eve 2023
Переглядів 3276 місяців тому
Aruba's biggest Pagara! What six million firecrackers going off look like. A common Aruban tradition on the day leading up to New Year's Eve is setting off a pagara, a long string of Chinese firecrackers. The pagara will be set off all around the island and mark the end of year for local businesses. According to the myth the firecrackers will also keep away any evil spirits.

Great video. I grew up camping on Gallops island and going to Georges Island in the 90’s. I don’t live in the area anymore so it was very nice to see it again in your video. You are very knowledgeable on the islands as well :)

Cafe car on trains is such a vibe. Wish they had better food though. I remember when I was in China they had some bussin food on the trains.
On Amtrak, they have the café car which is more for light microwaved meals, and snacks plus drinks on routes like the northeast regional but the routes going west and those with sleeper cars actually have a full dining car… as I understand it, the dining car is only available to those holding sleeper car tickets, but I have heard that if the sleeper cars are relatively empty, they open up the car for everyone, for fee, of course… thank you for watching and, If you enjoy this content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Cool, I remember the one Cleveland had in downtown Higbee's. It was in the same store they shot the Santa slide scene in "A Christmas Story".
The Macy’s in Pittsburgh also had one, but I think this is the last operational one left anywhere…. Thank you for watching and, if you like this content, I sure would love another subscriber.!
Loved it, brought back great memories from my youth

How much and do u need to make a reservation or walk-in
It came out to about $65 a night for a room with two queen beds… I did reserve ahead of time, but I actually found the hotel years earlier by simply walking in and they had room… My guess is that there are probably always room available except for certain holidays or events happening in the city… it’s a great place. It’s close to everything…. Thank you for watching and, if you like this, I sure would love another subscriber.!

I have been thinking about kayaking Boston Harbor island for a long time but never did any ocean kayaking lots of lakes and rivers but never the ocean after watching your videos I’m not going to waste anymore time thinking about it I’m just going for it you make it look easy thank you
That's the right way to think about it! If I know ahead of time that I'm going out I post it for anyone to join me
@@travelswithtom9921 where do you post I’d like to go with someone that knows the area
@@normanrogers8057 I post it on the channel so if you are a subscriber with notifications turned on you will get a message through UA-cam... I'll probably be doing these sometime in May... That being said, I'm getting a dry suit so I will probably be kayaking through the winter so you may receive some notifications sooner
Have you gone to Lovells Island if so can you share the video thanks
Not yet, but it's on my list!
I think this is your best video yet love the map and picture at the end
Thank you!
Do you go use the low and high tide to go in and out with
Not really, I just go when I have a chance and deal with the tides as they come.
Do you use the tide
Not really, no... I like it when it works with me but I don't time it
I was wondering if you could put together a video showing what you bring with you on your kayak camping trips I’m trying to put stuff i need together for a few trips next summer
I will do that... In fact I am going to be getting a dry suit so I'm going to be trying to do some camping on the islands this winter
Where did you launch from and how long did it take you to get to the island
I start from Hull down by the WBZ antenna... I go across to bumpkin Island and then to Hull Gut... From there it's a straight shot out to Great Brewster... At a nice gentle Pace I would say it takes less than 2 hours... Thank you for watching and, if you like the content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Incredible place.
Yes
it is sad to bumpkin going back to wild went camping a few times as a kid there i do pray in the future the state gets the stuff together and gets the islands back to working order
I agree and maybe in the future they will bring it back. In any case, thank you for watching and, if you like the content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Is Georges Island open all the time or did you need to set this up ahead of time
It depends on the ferry schedule I think... Early October is when they stop and they don't start again until May... I've never kayaked over there in late October but I would assume the museum and the snack shop will be closed during that time... The rest of it'll probably be open just a walk around
@@travelswithtom9921 when did you take your trip I was surprised it was so quiet
That was in late summer 2021... I think the island was technically closed because of the pandemic
What air bags do you use
Seattle Sports Full Sea Kayak Bow and Stern Float Set...You can get them on Amazon for $60...I've intentionally flipped in shallow water to see how they work and they keep positive buoyancy
Hi what kayak did you use

One of the most underappreciated aspects of traveling Amtrak is seeing all of the things you would be flying over. It isn't the most pretty, but it is America! It takes rail yards and oil terminals to bring this to you. And, yes, the seats are fantastic! Love the NEC!
I totally agree...you really get to see the country by train...the good, the bad, the weird, and, yes, sometimes the ugly. Thank you for watching and, if you like my content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Greetings from Florida 🐬 Beautiful!!
Thank you for watching and if you like my content I sure would love another subscriber!
Never been on these trains. Im going from New York to Boston. Says im in business seat 1A. What should i change my seat to to get the best view going to Boston?
I think that's on the left side of the train, if you could get a seat on the right side you'll have ocean views which I tend to prefer
That being said, leaving the city you'll have the best skyline views sitting on the left... Thank you for watching and, if you like the content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Is there a storage rack suitable for a large suitcase?
Yes, there are storage racks at the front of each car for large suitcases and the overhead is very spacious so some big stuff can go up there as well. Thank you, for watching and, if you like the content, I sure would love another subscriber!
Thanks for you fast reply Tom! Subbed. @@travelswithtom9921
Love your videos.... Curious , using a recreational kayak, have you ever flipped over???? Obviously, not wishing and bad juju on you, but I was told I shouldn't use a rec kayak. I have a Pelican Mustang120X EXO kayak, and would love to kayak the islands.
That is a good question...I use an old Eagle Run 12 which is a fishing kayak and is good for a big guy like me. It's very stable and the only time I've flipped was intentional to see what it would take and that was with actual breaking surf along Nantasket Beach pushing behind me. I get the concern but it's important to remember that sea kayaks are actually more 'tippy' rec kayaks. Yes, you can right them much more easily but I'd rather not tip in the first place. This involves making sure the weather is good when going out and reading the water and knowing when to cut a trip short if things are getting gnarly. I did put inflatable bulkheads in my kayak so I will always have positive buoyancy plus a hand pump to help get water out. I stick close to land whenever possible. That being said, there is a risk but life is a risk and, as long as you do your best to be smart, you can minimize it.
Also, thank you for watching and, if you like my content, I sure would love another subscriber!
