I don’t understand why you’re an artist if you’re too scared to create, I’d say do some homework, study some ap art history and learn your roots. It’ll open your mind more, sketchbooks are not meant to look pretty. This frustrates me so bad because these ppl make such good art. Can’t even draw a sketchbook. How the hell do they practice???

7:00 real i realized this last year after i got 2 sketch books and some notebooks from Christmas, and when it was near summer, i was so excited to finish those sketchbooks and create new art. It was pretty ironic how i became so creative in a time when i was going through something tough, but cuz of it i realized how fun art was. One thing i did notice was i prefered smaller sizes when it comes go sketchbooks and notebooks 😭bigger sizes of sketchbooks unconsciously made me intimidated(and overthink about wat j should draw 💀) with how much space there was which also made me critical to myself when something looked off

what sketchbooks have turned into in the last decade has really made me sad for a lot of newer artists, tbh. when i first started learning to draw and looking at sketchbook tours, they were full of sketches/doodles/studies/thumbnails/etc and very little finished work because sketchbooks are *supposed* to be for practicing. but i think social media really kind of ruined the freeing nature of what sketchbooks used to be. when i was in high school a million years ago, the art students in my school (i wasn't one of them, i only started learning to draw very recently) would have their sketchbooks and they'd also have an art book where they'd put their more finished pieces to show off and to get graded. and i feel like what's happened over time is the two kinds of books sort of combined? i'm glad you've found freedom in your sketchbooks now!

I think the main problem with the cinnamonroll was that you weren't going dark enough in the shadows. Also your art is lovely!

Soo...im kinda in the same I see these amazing sketchbook tours and i want to have one just as pretty as the others,but then i forgot what the purpose of the sketchbook is,to have fun!to draw!Im trying to change this way of thinking,and to stop criticize me so much 🥲 And a tip that worked with me,draw what you want, don't draw what you can.Stop limiting yourself to draw the same pretty lady in same pose everytime,try to catch new poses,draw different people,and trust me,try to draw cars and animals . At first is hard,but at the end,you will have fun in some way!
