Virus lysing in fall armyworm baculovirus
Here is a view of the fall armyworm baculovirus particles, called occlusion bodies (OBs), under the microscope. The shaky yellow dots are the OBs. If you watch the top right corner, you will see a potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution slowly dissolving the OBs into dark shadows. This is how researchers can confirm baculovirus infection in a deceased fall armyworm.

Sea Urchin Righting Trial
Переглядів 1984 місяці тому
Watch as a sea urchin rights itself after being flipped over by researchers at University of California- Santa Barbara. They are interested in seeing how heat waves may affect urchins ability to flip back over in warmer water. Slower responses may leave the urchins more vulnerable to predators.

Trees and the City with scientist Adrienne Keller
Переглядів 267Рік тому
We often imagine nature as being a place outside of cities. But within our cities, we are surrounded by nature - in fact, most human interactions with nature happen within urban areas. Picturing a tree, we might imagine it in a remote forest, yet many trees are planted by residents and local governments within cities to provide important benefits, such as beauty and shade. The number and types ...
Data on Data Nuggets - Results of Efficacy Study for LTER ASM 2022
Переглядів 542 роки тому
Data Nuggets are free activities, developed by scientists and teachers, that bring contemporary research and authentic data into the classroom. We conducted an efficacy study with 22 high school biology teachers across four states. We had teachers teach one section as they typically would, and integrate Data Nuggets into a comparison section. Compared to business-as-usual instruction, students ...

Raising Nemo: Parental care in the clown anemonefish - Mouthing & Fanning
Переглядів 7433 роки тому
Offspring in many animal species rely on parental care; the more time and energy parents invest in their young, the more likely it is that their offspring will survive. However, parental care is costly for the parents. The more time spent on care, the less time they have to find food or care for themselves. Tina Barbasch is a scientist studying the clown anemonefish. She is interested in how pa...

    1) By reflecting away 30% of ISR the albedo, which would not exist w/o the atmosphere, makes the earth cooler than it would be without the atmosphere like that reflective panel set on the dash. Remove the atmosphere/GHGs and the earth becomes much like the moon, a barren rock with a 0.1 albedo, 20% more kJ/h, hot^3 on the lit side, cold^3 on the dark. Nikolov, Kramm (U of AK) and UCLA Diviner mission all tacitly agree. 2) the GHG up/down welling, “trapping”/”back” radiating/delaying/intercepting, 100 % efficient, perpetual warming loop requires "extra" energy which according to RGHE theory it gets from 3) the terrestrial surface radiating that "extra" energy as a near ideal .95 emissivity black body which 4) it cannot do because of the non-radiative heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmospheric molecules. 1+2+3+4 = 0 Greenhouse Effect + 0 Greenhouse gas warming + 0 man caused climate change. All science backed up by experiment, the gold standard of classical science. www.linkedin.com/posts/nicholas-schroeder-55934820_climatechange-greenhouse-co2-activity-6749812735246254080-bc6K
