I'd get thameslink to either Blackfriars and walk or to London bridge and then, from London Bridge, I'd get a southeastern train just 1 stop to Waterloo East - then walk the few minutes to Waterloo.

until the refurb at least, the emr connect isnt worth it. they also made it so confusing, like 'welcome onboard this emr connect service to corby. this is a luton airport express service to luton airport pkwy'. i mean, surely it cant be that difficult to say 'omg you can get to luton airport in 32 minutes with emr connect!' or make a service just for it. also, thameslink is more comfortable, and if you buy the ticket on the day, your ticket is valid on either service. if you dont care abiut trains, take thameslink. more space, more comfort, more modern. if you do care about the train and goong return, get both. if you've never been on 360 and you're going single, get 360, as you can get a thameslink train to more places. everything could change with the refurb

So you let a sevenoaks train go (which stops at LB) to get on a "brighton" train to LB which was actually a train to rainham. 2 mins in and already it's pretty unhelpful. Get off at blackfriars, and get a bus to waterlooo station and yo'd have been there 10 mins earlier.

The Class 360/1 that were used on Greater Anglia are lot more efficient and reliable and I think that EMR should keep them for long time and perhaps run them to Market Harborough with the electrification on the Midland Main Line to continue towards Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham and Derby.

I do like what East Midlands Railway are doing to the Class 360 Desiro since they were cascaded from Greater Anglia and I have been on them since they were introduced in service few years ago. And I also been on the new Luton DART shuttle train as well.

It always amazes me how there are so many options to travel in London. It is common that mainline rail, overground, underground and bus are all options. Here in the Midlands that is seldom the case. This isn't an anti London rant. It is an aspiration.

*edit* Just looked at the route map and answered my own question - Sevenoaks, Orpington and Wimbledon/Sutton trains all go through Elephant & Castle rather than London Bridge under normal operations. Still plenty of other Thameslink destinations that would get you to London Bridge, but fewer than I thought! (1:25 don't the Sevenoaks trains also go to London Bridge? I thought it was only Sutton/Wimbledon trains that would be no use for London Bridge...)

That was a long faff isn't there a bus if u don't like the tube? I do not like the tube but I go into Waterloo from Hampshire so never been to St Pancreasfoy years,

Train from St Panc to Blackfriars, take southern exit & either walk to Waterloo (nice walk by the Thames or along the road) or take a short taxi journey (taxis at Tate Modern or at Sea Containers hotel)

Yoiu could take a bus.

I hate to point this out, but the easiest way to get from St Pancras to Waterloo, a journey I used to make at least once a year heading to visit my family in Somerset from Nottinghamshire, is to follow what my mother would do: Walk out of St Pancras station to the taxi rank, get in the next available cab and ask for Waterloo 😂
