I've had this same issue on two other CS knives, both pre GSM: the Rajah 3 and the Large Voyager Vaquero. Do you know by any chance if the Tanto point does that as well or not? This steel is kinda soft so it's somewhat of a deal breaker...

Had the m1 s35vn is a pain to sharpen or there's was. And how the handle slims down it isn't comfortable skinning. Have a purple izula in my hunting bag and it's a lot better to butcher with.

I have two of these from Japan and found that the bark river michigan bowie sheath works for these knives.

Lynn always raved about this knife, in San Mai. He said they were virtually indestructible. The 3v is nice, but a bit more hard, and brittle. But eithor way u cant go wrong. I have a outdoorsman in vg10 San Mai, and adore it. Love cold steel.

Cold Steel does not have a trademark on San Mai. It is a blade making technique using two types of metal, on inside the other, either stacked or in a “taco”.

XHP is better depent on hundreds tests all over the youtube. In cuting test it cut twice more.

Has anyone had a problem of the tip not being symmetrical? The line that goes through the center of the blade is off. I got mine off Amazon and I’m sending it back for another one.

The Knife Connection makes a set of Micarta or G10 scales that are extended and they are really comfortable.

I have 2 kobuns, the original production in aus8, and a lynn thompson signiture in s35vn. Love em both. Very sharp. Light, thin profile, easy to carry. Good retention and sheaths. Not too expensive. Very usable, and dependable. Cold steel rocks

For $11.95 you can buy 100ft of paracord in your favorite colors and rewrap the handle for a lifetime. There's a lot of handle wrap patterns, but the very simple clockwise wrap that MKC uses works just fine. The regular Izula OAL is short enough for dress pants pockets, then the Izula II or Xancudo for work pants. The S35VN doesn't need wiped and oiled and won't rust under the paracord or scales like 1095. Always best to clean the knife after use regardless, but if you overlook it one time it won't rust over by morning.

I really like the Recon Tanto, but I'm not real crazy about the handle. Everything else is great. Nice heavy Blade, sheath is perfect and sharp out of the box.

I could understand why the first gen RTAKII's are worth a bit more money, because aside from the RAT logo on the side of the blade, they were originally made in 1095. But those were discontinued because the 1095 versions had heat treat issues, so that's a useless knife to me. I don't collect knives to sit around and collect dust, I use my knives so I don't bother with collector's editions of certain blades. Since OKC closed down, it was hard to find an RTAKII here in Canada but I manged to track one down and purchase one that's a 125th Anniversary Collector's Edition but I've been using it every day and I've even stripped the coating. I might consider TKC handles since they do look good but I don't have any problems with the stock scales other than they get dirty quite easy. I'm definitely getting a kydex sheath made for it for sure. since I love this knife. I definitely prefer it over the Junglas. You're definitely right about how some people use this knife. I don't know what these people are doing to break this knife but every knife has it's limitations and this knife isn't made with 3V or some other super steel, plus it's long too which makes it more susceptible to breakage. Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin from Esee knives were kind enough to explain that the RTAKII is a compromise between a machete and a knife for use out in the jungle, not a forest of full of nothing but hardwood trees that I see some of these fools trying to chop down and baton with using only this knife. It can do some of these tasks very well like chopping and batonning, but it does have it's limitations. I like my tools to last me a very long time because replacing them is a hassle. But as for the relief grind, is what's it's supposed to be and was never intended to be used as a choil but that's what many people including myself use it for but that's what Jeff & Mike said and they would know because they designed this knife.So there's a lot of things about this knife that was unintentional but worked out great. That said, I would pay big bucks to have this knife in 3V and take it to a whole other level.

I just bought this knife and it has 2 vertical streaks in the pvd coating. I can't get them off anyone know why or what I can do ??

I've heard people complain about the weight and balance of this knife. The original Buck 110 weighs 7.2 Oz and they have sold over 15 million of those. And it is also handle heavy. I think people are just being picky 😂

I'm a little weiry about buying certain things from Amazon such as a higher end knife. I've read about the knock offs that are out there, it's not just Cold Steel it's everyone. I'd rather pay more knowing I'm getting the real deal than a cheaper knock off. Just my personal opinion. Their fantastic knives.
