Im looking for a cheap machine that can do letters, any suggestions?? I dont know anything about sewing or embroidery
Claire this is the sweetest project!! I am going to put this on my list of "gotta try". Thanks so much for sharing
@JanPstitches Thank you ! Please do have a go and share your project with me ! Please follow me on FB and IG - Clairemuirtextiles
Lovely video! THanks for the tips. I saw you have madeira threads. Can you use madeira threads for machine embroidery?
@carolinaviquez2212 Yes, Madeira Classic 40 is a beautiful thread for free machine embroidery as are their metallic threads. I have been using them over 30 years !
Just beautiful! Which thread do you recommend for a thicker finish, please? Thanks so much, Sue ❤
@suebrown5500 Hi Sue, I really only ever do this technique with Madeira Classic 40 thread but you could try Madeira Cotona 30 thread . The finish would be matt rathe than the lovely sheen of the viscose thread
@@clairemuirfreemachineembro7863 thanks so much xx
You made that look so easy, I just have a funny feeling it's going to take a bit of practice before I can do that with such ease.😄
@XeniaSuaiden Thank you
Lovely video
Great video! Thank you
I've been sewing and quilting for years and have never seen this! I'm currently working on a baby quilt for my granddaughter, who is due in April. This will allow me to do a custom label! My only question is going between the words, when you pull the thread to start the next word, are those stitches secure enough so that they won't come undone?
Hi @patriciaharper5735 yes, if you stitch on the spot at the end of each letter that will really make them secure. Good luck with the quilt
Also, getting one this week. My sewing room is turquoise and coral, so I can’t pass this machine up. I have the 770 kaffe edition also.
Oh how lovely @maureenkearne5376 . I bet you e enjoyed the 770. Enjoy them both
I’m not sure if I missed this in the instructions. Do you have the walking feet down? I tried to zoom in but I couldn’t tell for sure.☺️ I have a pair of jeans that I need to hem. I’m trying to match the stitches which is a triple stitch with a thick bobbin thread. In my case, I think it’s similar to Gütermann’s Extra Strong Thread in the bobbin. When doing a stitch like this for hemming, would you put the bobbin thread through the tension holder?
@jenniferstinert5498 Hi, yes, I do have the feed dogs or teeth lowered on my machine for this technique. If you are trying to match the thread in a triple stitch then you are probably best using Gutermann Topstitch thread in the top of your machine and follow the following instructions. As you will be sewing conventionally, have your feed dogs/ teeth raised. For machine stitching with Gutermann Topstitch, we recommend a thinner thread in the bobbin such as Gutermann Extra Strong or Gutermann Natural Cotton. We also recommend a sharp, large-eyed machine needle such as a Schmetz Topstitch 100. Hope that helps
Thank for your video Claire.Great job.
what bobbin thread do you use? 60 wt ok?
That weight is just great to use
Great ! Thank you Claire, you can really teach an old dog new tricks 😊 I have learned so much 🎉
@ivygibson380 Thank you
Love this!
@judithhope8970 Thank you Judith. More of my work can be seen on FB and IG Claire Muir Textiles
freezer paper ironed on for the pattern might melt the solufleece......
@janetdonnell5633 Hi Janet good point but it doesn't if you use a dry iron, not too hot and place a piece of baking parchment over the top of it before you iron it. Hope that helps
Well done! I finally understand how to do this. Your hands are perfect for tutor as the nails are not so distracting that I've seen in some tutorials. Thanks for doing this. It's about the tutorial and not your fingernails. Perfect tutorial.
Sewline has a great air erasable pen , very handy 🖊
Thanks @jeangreenfield5993
I could not understand what kind of tissue paper you said.
@glendahartin4139 It just needs to ba good quality tissue paper, not a cheap one that crumbles. If it is an acid free one, it's usually nice and crispy and perfect for this
I am getting mine next week! I currently have a new edition 570 & wanted something a little smaller for travel! Thank you for the vid.
@pugmama3338 Oh how exciting - I hope you love it !
@clairemuirfreemachineembro7863 well, I changed my mind, I think I'm going to go with the 480 so both machines have the same feed dog system... still on the fence tho... nonetheless, I enjoyed your vid & I so wish they would do more with color on the Bernina machines! 😊
@@pugmama3338 I agree with you on colour. I do love Bernina special editions and I must confess that I also have a 480- Peacock Edition and both machines are great
@clairemuirfreemachineembro7863 Perhaps, I just need to start collecting!! 😂 Do you like one better than the other? (475 vs 480) I am wanting something I can travel with, but can also do projects on both machines if I choose, which is why I am leaning towards the 480 since it has the 9mm feed dogs like my 570 🤔
@@pugmama3338I could think of worse habits than collecting Bernina machines! My 475 I take with me when I teach elsewhere and my 480 is set up at home. I wouldn’t say I prefer one over the other. It depends if you want the 5.5mm vs 9mm stitch width as the 480 has the 9mm.
Incredible tutorial
This is a fantastic tutorial for starting out! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
@deniserettedal2387 Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed it
Love this idea.
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have been looking for a simple explanation on this subject and yours is by far the best I have found ,it has been so helpful for me and given me the start I needed x
@amandastratton8242 Thank you, glad to help
😅
Beautiful work and a great video. Very clear and calm ! Free motion had eluded me so far but I am persevering. Practice makes perfect. All the best and happy sewing.
@therotundhound2354 Thank you. I'm so pleased to hear you're not giving up. Keep going, you'll love it
I totally ENJOYED this!!! Great tutorial! I hope you make MORE tutorials!
@shirleybender Thank you , glad you enjoyed it.I hope to make more. FB and IG have my reels - I am Claire Muir Textiles on them
Nice, will try this! Do you have videos doing this technique on shirts? Thank you have a blessed day.
@mrscaldwell3147 Thank you . I don't but you could do this on shirts. If you didn't want to put the shirt in a hoop , you could iron some tear away stabiliser to the back of the shirt so you can embroider on it
WONDERFUL, didn't think about the stabilizer...will give it a try thank you so much.@@clairemuirfreemachineembro7863
Hello, loveing your work, would a clear couching foot for the Bernina 770 make it easier do you think
@lynfrancis-pr7qx Thank you you could use the clear couching foot if you wish
Love your video definitely got thumbs up I am an absolute beginner waiting on my machine to arrive, may I ask what size ring you are using or recommend to use?
Thanks Susan. It's a 10" ( 25.5cm) hoop. I find that and 8" and 6`" hoops the most useful although I have them in all sizes
Vary good i need leran from you zig zag
I like to use Peltex with a double-sided adhesive. It's firm, and you can't see through it. It allows for a lot less layers and labor.
Great! Thanks for that. I just prefer sewing through S80 which is why I do it this way
How long hasn’t it taken you to become so proficient in machine embroidery?
I've been doing it all wrong 🤔. I self taught but I didn't know that I could drop the feed dog. Thank you so much for enlightening me. My machine doesn't have that type of foot so I remove the regular one and just sew. I am still perfecting the skill 😅and I have learned something new ❤. Subscription added ❤
Genius! Love the idea of angling out the machine.
Lovely.. is there a tutorial or book available on how you did the gorgeous flower? Thank you for sharing
Lovely. I cnnot afford the Kaffe machine but I did recently score a Singer 348. Another beauty.
@lindagieseler9566 Great ! I bet you love it !
Nice tutering …i’ve learned and picked up tips……from Ontario, Canada
Me too, from Nova Scotia
❤❤ gracias por compartir
What is your sewinf machine set up like the volume and form of stitches? Great tutorial btw. Lovelots
Could you use all purpose 35 weight polyester for a regular bobbin?
@TheCORE I believe you can
Awesome thanks so much!!
What size needle do you use on the machine ?
How do you get to make zigzag thinner.and thicker without changing stitch width from knob. Thank you
