Hi, I’m Gene, and I’d love to welcome you into the journey… the journey into Freedom Flow.
Freedom Flow is a holy experiment I’ve been working with over the last two years. It started with a sacred covenant that I created with an acquaintance of mine. At the time, what we were doing seemed irrational, even stupid. But I have to tell you - I have been absolutely blown away by all that has developed from that one decision!
Surrendering into the process that flowed forth has opened up my eyes, and indeed my entire life, in ways I never could have imagined. Freedom Flow has invited me to get out of my boxes and shift into fresh perspectives on my life. I now see things like money, success, and relationships from an amazing new "lens"!
And I know that this is just the beginning.
If you’d like to learn more about this philosophy and start to experience it for yourself, then please join me in this journey by subscribing to my Channel. Soon you too will discover the freedom of flow.

If my resource is small, why contribute at all?
“CRACK!!...THUD!!” The sound breaks the silence. My wife Joy goes to investigate. As Joy looks down the road, she discovers that a tree has fallen, blocking one lane of our two-lane country road at a blind spot.
Joy could have believed:
The Myth:
Not my property, not my problem.
But instead, Joy responds:
“It might not be my property, but it is our neighborhood.
“How can I help?”
“What resources do I have available?
Joy puts on her fluorescent safety vest and gardening gloves and grabs a pair of hand clippers. “Hey Gene, there is a tree down on the road, and I am going to see if I can safely move some branches.”
“I'll come along to help.” I grab my vest and a bow saw that I use to cut tree limbs on our property. “Maybe it will come in handy,” I think. I follow Joy, who is already headed the short distance down the street to the scene of the “roadblock.”
We begin to cut and clear the smaller branches from the roadway. I see that there are bigger branches of the tree that will need to be removed for the road to be cleared. We continue to work, but I recognize that Joy’s clippers and my handsaw are not going to “cut it” (“pun” intended 😊). Specifically, the job requires a chainsaw, and I don’t have one.
Before long, a pickup truck pulls to the side of the road with its 4-way warning lights flashing. A young man jumps out of the truck, lowers the tailgate and pulls out a chainsaw! He doesn’t say a word. “Chainsaw Dude” just fires up his chainsaw and starts to expertly dismantle the fallen tree. Joy and I drag cut branches off the road and maneuver chunks of log to the side.
In just a few minutes, he (no check that, WE) have the road totally clear. Chainsaw Dude shuts off his saw and gets ready to leave. I shake his hand and thank him.
He says:
“When I drove by and saw you using that little bow saw,
I knew that I had my chainsaw in the truck.
I just had to come back and help.”
The Model:
In Freedom Flow every contribution draws more flow.
Even my “small” contribution increases and invites more flow. I am never alone. What I perceive as mine is ours.
Resources flow through connection.
The Practice:
In my “neighborhood” (my sphere of influence),
when an obvious need arises,
am I open, willing to contribute?
Do I see the freedom that I have to choose here?
Later, we noticed that a neighbor contributed his Bobcat skid-steer loader, moving the debris farther off the road to enhance the “flow” of travel for everyone!
To watch as a “roadblock” becomes an opportunity to “be love” and “be loved,” check out this 3-minute video.

When a trigger marks the spot
Переглядів 2714 днів тому
Hey, it’s Joy, welcoming you into the flow. Right up front I should give you a "Trigger Warning: the content of this message may trigger you (as it did me)." Do you ever feel like you may be wearing an invisible to you - but not everyone else - target? You know, like when somehow my heart is wearing a bull's eye that every comment is hitting? When everyone seems to know how to hit me with comme...
What limits us - too little or too much?
Переглядів 1421 день тому
We often assume that more is always better. But are there situations when we can have “too much of a good thing?” For example: What if I have too little food? Could I become so hungry that my stomach hurts? Could this lack of food cause me to become sick? What if I have too much food? Could I eat so much that I become “stuffed” and my stomach hurts? Could this overeating cause me to become sick...
Three B's that add value to your time!

We are the proud grandparents of a 9-month-old granddaughter. She is becoming increasingly aware of her surroundings. When she is being cared for at our house, our grand girl is particularly aware of one person... Grandma. Where is Grandma? What is Grandma doing? And most importantly... “Is Grandma paying attention to me?” Our granddaughter knows that if Joy is paying attention to her, Joy is m...
Three clues that you may be hoarding!
Переглядів 538Місяць тому
Many of us would say that living life abundantly means having enough. But what do we mean by enough? How much is enough? Is it ever enough? We want to have enough, but we don’t want to hoard too much. The Myth: I will only have enough if I hoard my resources. Let’s look at some of the characteristics of having vs. hoarding… State of flow: Having - Desire to temporarily “use” (moving state). Hoa...
Am I a resident or a tourist in my own life?
Переглядів 41Місяць тому
Hey, it’s Joy, welcoming you into the flow. I love to travel. This year I have gone to some new and old destinations, where I experienced new things. I love to discover and explore different things and to get out of my daily routines and patterns. I like being a visitor, a guest, a tourist. Being a tourist has privileges, but living as a tourist in my own life can be hazardous. Funny thing. Whe...
Experience Whale Watching

"WOW what an EXPERIENCE!" Joy and I have been on a trip, visiting our daughter and her husband in the Pacific Northwest. On our flight home, I'm enjoying my memories, photos, and videos of the experiences that we shared. I have a massive sense of wonder, awe and gratitude. Even after traveling hiccups, "missed opportunities," less than perfect conditions... (messy living process and growing opp...
Freedom Flow101.5 - What makes abundance flow?
Переглядів 13Місяць тому
In this week’s conversation, Gene and the Freedom Flow 101 class are discussing Living Abundantly… but with a “twist.” Ready for it? Abundance needs lack in order to flow. Lack is what makes abundance necessary, useful and valuable. Need to think about that one for a minute? Well then check out this 1-minute video! For Freedom to Flow it needs both abundance and lack. Without “opposites” there ...
Discovering your Value
Переглядів 232 місяці тому
It’s a jungle out there. People are searching, trying to discover... their value. What makes you valuable? I might say… If I'm rich, that makes me "valu-able" (able to be valued… get it? 😊) If I contribute to others, then those people will value me. If I think like you and act like you, then maybe you will value me. I may believe; The Myth Other people determine my value. So I search. Looking f...
Spoken word poetry: “Freedom from your ‘Just-in-case-ofs’”
Переглядів 212 місяці тому
Why are we so attached to our "just-in-case-ofs"? Perhaps it’s because we believe... The Myth: If I close my fist around my limited supply, I can hold and hoard what I have. You hold so tight, with all your might, to every plan you make up, “I’m on my own, I’m all alone, no one to lift my face up.” “Freedom from your 'Just-in-case-ofs'" by Gene Newswanger In Freedom Flow, we are invited to expe...
Being the work of Freedom Flow
Переглядів 552 місяці тому
Hey it’s Joy welcoming you into the flow. It’s Labor Day weekend. A celebration to honor the labor of workers. “What do you do?" is a common conversation starter question. It has been one of my least favorite questions. I have found few answers or job titles that truthfully satisfy me and my new acquaintance. (More of that story another time :)) Today, I am enjoying thinking about what work and...
Missing cat connects community
Переглядів 202 місяці тому
Myla, our indoor cat escapes. For reasons unknown, she bolts toward the woods. We see her go. We call her name, but she disappears into the night. The search begins immediately. The initial hours produce no sign of our beloved family pet. Clearly, we need help in finding Myla. We cannot do this alone. We post a notice on our community Facebook page. We contact our local animal shelters. We hang...
Freedom Flow 101.4 - Sharing in Abundance

A resource that is "well used" is often a sign that it is being "used well." - Gene Newswanger from Freedom Flow In the past few weeks, we have been introduced to these new Freedom Flow terms... Just-in-case-ofs - Resources that we have “just in case of" They are often under utilized and could be shared. Together aware - A point of view that expands our perspective beyond individual self to inc...
“Just-in-case-of” packing strategies
Переглядів 333 місяці тому
I’m all for planning for the future. However, when I look at some of the things that I keep “Just-in-case-of,” I wonder if I go a little “overboard.” Last week we learned... The Myth: I should keep this thing forever, just in case I need it... someday. There is a simple, yet powerful, way to increase the “pros” and decrease the “cons” of many of my “just-in-case-ofs.” Ready for it? I choose to ...
Justification of my "Just-in-case-ofs"?
Переглядів 943 місяці тому
Where is your favorite place to store stuff? Maybe it’s your attic or basement, your kitchen “junk drawer” or office desk drawer, your closet shelf or book shelf, your storage unit or “cloud” storage. Now head on over to that “place,” and take a look around. Are there things here that you hold on to “just-in-case-of”? Why do we justify keeping those things? For me, it’s often because I believe:...

I love all the character names in our neighborhood. So grateful I actually saw the option to contribute to clearing the road instead of just my known of saying I am the least qualified to help here in this hands on practical situation. Grateful to live this story and create a new experience of Joy can be practical too.
I am in the process of being made redundant, i also have a new job in the wings waiting. I am so aware of the tightness of my fists around the old job. It is known, I am known, 20 yrs known in this company, so it is comfortable, like a favorite tatty old jumper, that now sags and bags where it once fit. Thinking of this move in the terms you use really helps, by releasing the old I allow the things I did, that I enjoyed doing , that were 'mine' to become someone elses thing to enjoy. I had not thought of it like that at all. I definitely hoarded my various roles they even defined me, this has shocked me. I did not realise how my thought process around my job has subjugated who I am in Christ. Thankyou for this revelation shared.❤
Thanks for sharing. It's encourages me in my journey to know the perspective was helpful in your process of "flow". Blessings on your new adventures!
Flow distribution network. Too much too little presents me with invitation to choose to grow in capacity to trust source provision and open to the flow of connection. 😊
Speaking as that Grandmother referenced in that think of the week. I can say that even when it looks like I am doing nothing, a young child will often show me if I am not fully being alert and present. One of the reasons I love children - they invite me to be more authentic and fully present and tell and show me when I am not :)
People abuse, damage and/or don't return 'loaners'...sorry...'neither a borrower nor lender be', a saying for a reason...if there is no 'ownership' there is no care...truth nugget. Proud over saver of things...especially right now with what is unfolding...there are no 'unlikely' scenarios now!✊🏼
Oh my...... this one hot hard...lol.
Thank you Joy
Even seeing things in my own moment that are new and fresh but the mundane keep me from seeing them
Fully present in my own life.!!!
You'll never get a Following with Positive Energy.... Negativism sells so much better these days.....
Positivity is great...reality is realer!🤔
Thank you for these have vs. hoard questions to use in my closet and kitchen and life …
Can I share a toothbrush with a spouse?
If it turns you on! lol.
WOW Joy! Well done and articulated! Deeply given and stiring the Now in me, the presence, the essence, the flow. Light and easy. I like your Ireland hoody! Love you Girl.....
Thank you
So wonderful to hear you both and see your magnificent voyage! Thank you for the whale time!
I loved how the crew gave appreciation for the hunt itself when there is no guarantee of seeing anything. That is helpful for me to remember when I don’t see what I desire to enjoy the hunt itself. Amazing experience
Yes it is Joy! Just experiencing the Now time. It is catching.
Amazing!!
This is so exciting !!! Super happy for you guys !! Didn’t know we were on the same side of the country doing the same thing
Are we uncomfortable with lack because we are unaware of the necessity of ebb in flow?
So grateful no animals were harmed in the filming of this jungle video
Very creative. I hear the rhythmic flow and it sure helps me want to let go of a few more of my now revealed abundant supply of personal just in case ofs. Thank you. Grateful we are not alone and now waking up together
I also love this freedom flow of poetry!
Nice hat!!❤
So beautiful
🐈❤
hahaha you crack me up Gene lol 🤣🤣🤣
I like the host and the canoe and …

Happy Anniversary JOYGene❤
Love it!! Thanks for this empowering reminder, friend!
Thank you Super Joy! I needed that on many fronts
Yes my perspective lens and past and current view of my experience do impact my lens today. Today I am practicing living abundantly by staying present in the present now (big challenge for me, myself and i 😂) and witnessing what lens I am using to see. Still learning to know I have a choice of lens even when I feel like I have no choice. Still learning to experience Love’s abundant presence for me in whatever I see. Lots of room to expand and grow indeed.
Yes! Thank you for puttling language to the fear we don't want to admit! Is Love enough to sustain us with that level of seeming lack? Or do we REALLY have everything we nees for life and godliness (god-likeness)?? Good stuff, Gene!!
Great questions to ponder though uncomfortable indeed.
Looking forward to this new series. ❤
❤beautiful ❤
So good!
Soo beautiful!! Thank you for this precious release of flow! It definitely stirs me from that deep identity within!!
Perspective change ❤
So grateful to be a part of and witness your authentic journey in this freedom flow
Flow on, Gene! Love you all so much!
so good!
Grateful for this perspective and the song :) thank you

Love this wisdom and this sports fan observer
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement! Writing "poetry" was certainly not my intent for this week's "Think of the Week newsletter. It just "flowed through" and developed over the course of a few days. We are blessed by your honor of this process of flow. Thank you! Blessings, Gene (for Gene and Joy)
Your spoken word is like connective light-tissue weaving together what seems to be so many fragments of life but is all actually one -- living, flowing, expanding together. 💕
