Next Level Photorealism in EEVEE NEXT | Blender 4.2

I wanted to show how powerful the new EEVEE rendering engine really is. So, with just a few tweaks in settings, I managed to get a final render that is really close to a Cycles quality. And I am no expert for EEVEE. On the contrary, I am rendering with Cycles 99.99% of the time. But raytracing in EEVEE just blew my mind! ❤️ This is an affiliate link for a BlenderKit addon. Robot Animation in EEVEE NEXT | Blender 4.2

This cute robot is a model I made in Plasticity. It will be one of the characters in my upcoming short film I am making in Blender. Once I modeled this bad boy, I decided to give the new EEVEE render engine a shot. And to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by how close it can get to Cycles with the new Raytracing feature. Awesome! Animation is rendered on RTX 3060 ❤️ This is an affiliate lin...
Cinematic Car animation - Blender 4.2

It's been 2 years since I first made this animation with Aston Martin Victor. This was a test for me. After two years, I wanted to see what I could do using the same assets. I spent 3 days on my first animation, so I also decided to follow that rule for this one. If I gave it few more days it would've been so much better. But that would be cheating! I think I made a bit of a progress ❤️ This is...

    I totally agree with your assessment of blender being a cost saving key to getting into the professional world of content creation. I am a small studio in Akron Ohio. I use BforArtists, a fork of blender, as my primary Animation app. BforArtists is a version of blender that has an old-school interface and does not depend on hundreds of key commands for its functionality. It also has tools and add-ons that blender does not have. I have no intention of switching over to more expensive software. This does the same thing. I also have invested in many add-ons that increased the functionality of BforArtists . It would be great if more people understood They don’t have to spend a fortune to be a full-time content creator of any kind.

    The biggest notable difference for me is the eyes in the pink furby, with Cycles clearly tracing multiple bounces through glass layers, but I think that can be fixed in the material settings, under surface. Turn on Raytraced Transmission and set the Render Method to Dithered as a starting point. Turning on Transparent Shadows and From Shadow and setting the Thickness to Sphere may help with more accurately calculating the refractive thickness of the eyes as well.

    REally great! Btw, the displacement in eevee was already possible before with geometry nodes

    EEVEE gets shockingly close! Would be interesting to see the comparison with baked lighting added, to take into account lighting not present in frame (the ray tracing in EEVEE is performed in screen space)

    I think you could optimise it more for eevee by making new materials for the fur, volumes. As they render differently they need different materials aswell. But yeah it's much more realistic now and has alot of potential. The competition isnt cycles though, it is lumen and redshift

    • @bojansolar
      @bojansolar 4 місяці тому

      I agree about the materials. But the test's point was not to touch anything and see what happens. Since many people will maybe want to try and render their old projects they initially wanted to render in Cycles. I myself have such projects that were far too optimistic and I never ended up rendering them because a single frame would render for 10 minutes. Also, Cycles for me in this case is a direct competition because I don't use Lumen really.

    Unbelievable results. There's still a few things that are missing from EEVEE compared to cycles. Nevertheless, I'd assume the render time would be very advantageous. Excellent job on showing this off, I hope your short film project goes well mate :)

    • @bojansolar
      @bojansolar 4 місяці тому

      Yeah! This project was very random, I just wanted to make a short animation of the robot I modeled. But I soon realized it would take around 50 hours to render this in Cycles. And it just wasn't worth it so I gave EEVEE NEXT a chance. And it didn't disappoint! Thank you for the nice comment! Really appreciate it.

    • @bojansolar
      @bojansolar 4 місяці тому

      If you're working with very complex and large scenes, I think you should probably pick RTX3060 with 12GB of VRAM. Mine serves me really good, never let me down. RTX4060 is generally more powerfull and efficient, and is the way to go if you're not rendering very big environments etc.

    'really impressive and a good vid' (is Eevee Next Ray tracing only Screen Space? If so this scene wouldn't show such a difference - it would be interesting to see a comparison on a well lit scene with various shiny/reflective objects as well)
