While I'm not totally sure how mainstream and effective it will be, Megascatterbomb and his team are developing their own third party anti-cheat program, which commands clients with it installed to auto-kick identified cheaters from a global database. It's only going to be in Australia at first, but they're working on getting it to other popular regions. It's really promising all things considered, and on paper it seems like a good idea. It's sort of out last bastion of hope on casual without valve's own intervention.

If F2P'rs were struggling then, imagine how it is for them now?

Something someone did in a server was ask what 2 + 2 was. A bot can’t respond to super specific things like that. So, if someone answers in the chat or on a mic, they’re real. That trick helped us play a really fun bot free game that day.

At this point I think Valve just wants the game to deteriorate and die so they have a "valid" reason to just shut it down.

i had an idea floating around in my mind that could help with the bot crisis, and it is for valve to hire professional coders and stuff so they could patch up ways for bots to operate very quickly if they hire a lot of them and valve currently having 6 billion dollars (or even more) at their disposal they could definitely do it, i just feel like that could really put a dent in the bot hosters operation

Thanks to valve ignoring tf2 im almost considering leaving cause im tired of the bots edit: by leaving i mean leaving casual and just completely moving to the community servers

Nothing will be done if the community just lets it happen. We don't need #savetf2, we need a #boycotttf2. It's clear that Valve didn't get the memo and now more drastic measures must be taken.

It's really sad to see this kind of evolution happening on TF2, But for a moment. Can we appreciate the silly tf2 moment that happens on 3:40 to 4:00 ? Not trying to hide the fact that this video is still about a biggest upcoming problem for the game, but it's interactions like this that TF2 still gets known as the most bizarre fps you could ever experience.

play on community servers, you have nothing to lose. just because the browser isn't "user-friendly" doesn't mean it stirs new players away from the game. hell, most people started out on random 24/7 2fort or achievement idle servers so i doubt new players are incapable of finding a server in the browser.

Probably the most extreme opinion here but here it goes: valve needs to be sued for anything significant to happen, it’s hard to boycott them as well… they own the platform, tf2 could lose all its paying players and they’d still be making tons of money off of other purchases. I don’t doubt they have people trying to fix the problem but it’s a skeleton crew trying to fix a all hands on deck issue. Unless they get punished big time for their neglect either nothings gonna happen or you’ll be waiting months for it

Seeing you Killing conga pyro in the beginning hurts me mentally

I truly thought I was going crazy. Thanks for making this video. I recently sent an email to Eric Smith at Valve, asking a question about Eric's queuing habits so I'd have better chances of popping into a game with him. He finished the email with "I’m glad you enjoy the game as much as we do. Thanks for the kind words." It's really cool to hear this, but something about it just doesn't feel right. i 1000% agree that casual is not playable ever since ive gotten back into tf2 all of my time playing it is on community bc i don't feel like dealing with the bots in them and hopefully we can get this bot problem resolved one day.

Bot Hosters are people *WHO NEED JESUS.* Also, here is what I think: I think Steam should download an AI Program that searches Every Player, and searches for people who use Cheating Programs. Whoever uses a Cheating Program and is found by the AI Program will instantly have their information leaked to the Relative Government and Authorities of their region, upon which, the Bot Hoster can be Tracked down for their Crimes and sentenced to Prison.

This is becoming almost like Mann Vs. Machine, except you don’t get an Australium in return for your suffering. God, I fucking hate bots, and their hosters and creators; nothing but narcissistic virgins, that should actually go get a life.

I can confirm some of this firsthand. I saw a bunch of “players” join a community server with something along the lines of “.kursnetzov” at the end of a Cyrillic-looking name. They were pretty much fully stock too, never switched classes, and then just.. disappeared.

Guess 64-bit didn’t stop them for long. Shame I missed my window due to being busy.

Only reason they stopped being so advanced is that out numbering the real players was enough to troll people. This could be a sign that player numbers are rising and they need to put effort to be annoying. Players complaining about bots who never experienced the initial waves really hammers down how long this problem has existed.

i once saw default engineer bots going around with pistols (and not building anything) and spamming vote kicks saying "f1 bot" or "HE IS ACTUALLY A BOT!!!!!!" and when they get vote kicked they said "f2 wtf" and i have no idea how 2-3 players spamming these 2 dialogs in the chat doesn't raise suspicion

Just played today after spending about a week away, and the new bots have sown more panic and paranoia in the casual lobbies than a really good sniper

And then 70% of TF2 community decided to ignore it because they think they can’t do anything about it. Despite that all you have to do is stop the economy. Go on strike. We can’t take this anymore. Get a better Anti Cheats or we will never going to touch TF2 economy ever again. This strike Valve hard tho. Because they’re losing money. TF2 might not be a huge economy as CA but it still hurts if a company suddenly lose one of their cash printer. Even if it is small. Sure, there might be a chance TF2 might get unplug (which less likely). But there is also a good chance that Valve start to wonder why TF2 suddenly not making money anymore.

What makes this even worse is that I am a new player who joined in the past 2 weeks, AND a sniper main. This means I’ll be a prime target for both the bots and players. Thankfully I’ve never been vote kicked, but that’s because casual never works!!!
