    Notice you didn't say Cummins because a Cummins is getting double that mileage towing that little fifth wheel. 😂 Seriously I get 14-16mpg towing 14,000lbs. Yeah that's not heavy compared to a semi trailer, but I don't have a semi truck.

    I remember working on this building that was next to some cottonwood trees. These where large carrier air handling units with quite a bit of capacity (about 50 tons each). Every single one of the condensers where plugged, but the outside was clean. People where just using a pressure washer to push the cottonwood further into the coils. I had to remove the condenser fans and push everything out from the inside. I estimate i removed about a five gallon bucket full of cottonwood from each of those units. They stopped losing compressors after that.

    • @BambergersInc.
      @BambergersInc. 2 місяці тому

      Yep, it sounds like they were just spraying it from the outside straight on without removing the outer cover, which will definitely get junk stuck in the fins. It has to be at an angle if from the outside. But good job there. Also, you have to be careful using a pressure washer, because it can flatten the fins and keep the condenser from breathing. 👌

    So obvious here you need to go take a mechanics and common sense course. Yor are talking about tapping into this wire and that wire for brake box power, if you knew anything at all about trucks you would go right to the pressure switch and run a wire straight from that. Everytime you cut a wire and tap into this or tap into that youre just asking for another problem. Also you need to put shut off valves on your airlines to the semi trailer so you can use ALL the braking power on the tractor and not just on the steering avle and maybe 25% of the drive axles. And your "foreign car" wiring box isnt needed because the lights on the tractor is already seperated. As they are on most RV trailer already. And all you needed to do for your "pigtail " to the trailer is put a 7 wire round pin plug on one end and a 7wire blade plug on the other. Also for safety if your trailer has a breakaway switch a good idea is to run a piece of coated cable alongside your light cord to hook to the breakaway switch and the other end anchored to the frame of the truck. If Motor Vehicle Enforcement stop you THAT will be the first thing they look for. Adding the fenders , good idea but they arent going to hold up you need real brackets to hold them from the vibration not a piece of pipe you just found somewhere. Been pulling RV type trailers with a semi tractor for 15 years and most of what you are telling people 1 isnt needed and 2 asking for an accident.

    • @Autogurugenious
      @Autogurugenious 2 місяці тому

      One of us needs schooling, and since I have done this for the past 6 years with perfect results, Im thinking it is you. You do not need to block airlines because you release the truck brakes, but not the trailer and you roll. If you buy a factory 7 Pin to 7 blade, your brakes, tail and turn on the trailer will not function properly. You need the adaptor I recommended. Also, I spliced the wiring all in the 7 to 7 adaptor cord, not the truck!!!! So I didn't hurt any factory wiring and I solder and heat shrink, so I never cause more issues. Next, if you are dumb enough to run the brake light switch voltage to the trailer brakes, you are running full electricity (12v) to the trailer. This will cause a major brake meltdown on the trailer in like 2 blocks because it will be stopping a truck that out weighs the trailer, plus the trailer itself. You need a brake controller!!!! If I were you, I would ask a few questions before coming in all guns a blazing, all the while being wrong. As for the fenders, I had a tire blowout last year and the fender kept the tire from harming the trailer 100%. It worked perfect. In fact, you can see the bump up in the fender where the tire blew instantly and hammered the fender, but not the trailer. I pounded it out afterword, but you can see it where the inner tire let go. And the brake away cord, it very nicely fits onto the 5th wheel handle and can not come undone without human intervention, so that advice wasn't needed. And that is 100% legit as far as a DOT stop. There is nothing more needed than what I went over, and you cannot get away with anything less. Good day

      @@Autogurugenious you missed what i was saying about the brake box, if you knew what you were doing you would also know you adjust the voltage to the trailer brakes on the box itself. Also shutting off the air lines to the trailer allows you to use all the braking power of the tractor. because when the trailer valve is pulled out you dont get hardly any air to the drive axle brakes. and i been doing this over 30 years. one day you youtube "truckers will learn. Hopefully before you slide thru a traffic light and kill someone,

    • @Autogurugenious
      @Autogurugenious Місяць тому

      @@jaywilliamson9860 I didn't miss what you said, you were wrong. You were also wrong about the need for a controller box and where to get brake light voltage. The truck stops on a dime, even in the rain so sorry to disappoint you and your genius. You are maybe 1 for 3 so far because I cant speak to the air brakes but I will find out. Im not a truck driver either way, but you already knew because you just know things.

    • @Autogurugenious
      @Autogurugenious Місяць тому

      Turns out you are 0 for 3. I wanted to be really sure before blabbering out false information, clearly an issue you dont have, and I was right. I have the air lines obviously hooked up where they are blocked ( In the holding brackets from factory) So when I release the yellow air button, my truck rolls freely and all the brakes available on the truck function as they should. So you might have 80 years experience, but you hit the Trifecta of being wrong on this one. I just hope everyone else enjoys the video and gets creative when towing an RV. Creative in a better, safer way like I did.

  • @scott9676
    @scott9676 2 місяці тому

    You might want to tap off of the fuse box for power and not straight off the battery. That way the power lines are all inside the truck. Then you probably want to water proof and tie down the outside wiring better so it doesn't break or fail in severe weather or when road debris goes flying through or when the truck flexes under load. It might be easier to fab in a brake pedal switch versus tapping into the wiring. It would have to be cheaper than that conversion box. If that wiring or conversion box fails, the DOT will chew you a new one. Just some thoughts.

    • @Autogurugenious
      @Autogurugenious 2 місяці тому

      The conversion box fixes the issue of the truck lights being different than the trailer lights. Auto systems use the turn signal switch to interrupt brake lights when a turn signal is on. It interrupts the side that flashes. Trucks, at least this one doesn't do that, hence the box. As for brake lights, you cant just send a brake light signal to the trailer, it will smoke the brakes on the trailer, because it will be 100% braking. So you need a brake controller. Lastly, this truck didn't have any free circuits from the fuse panel, and it would not have been easy to run the wires either way. The batter is 2 feet from the drivers area, and I fused it right off the battery. I made all my splices in the 7 pin to 7 blade adaptor, so I did not alter one thing on my Mack. I hope this helps bud

  • @fastst1
    @fastst1 2 місяці тому

    Could you run all of that right off of your trailer connector plug source? will need an interesting adapter. Imagine you can adjust the box enough to fix the ride of the trailer, pickup hitches are higher. My old dually drags the big camper without complaint, I do watch tire temperatures everytime I stop. I don't really dig the half tons pulling a 5th, seems a little sketchy unless they jack their tire pressures.

    • @Autogurugenious
      @Autogurugenious 2 місяці тому

      Yes duallys are fine. I thought I said that in the video but it may have been the other one I made. I said single tire trucks scare me in 100 degree days on a turn when hauling a 5th wheel. When I used a 7 pin to 7 blade, something didnt work. I think the trucks separate everything, so the trailer needs to interrupt the turn signal, and the truck turn has separate lights so if the brakes and turn are on, the side the turn is on will not flash, its full on brake lights. Hence the $30 adaptor. You can mount a brake controller on the trailer itself, but that is rough and it will be exposed to the outside. All my taping into wires was on the 7 to 7 adaptor, so I never spliced into the trucks factory wiring. I hope this helps

      @@Autogurugenious Roger that, me and 240hp can get down the road eventually. When I left CA during the crash, 89 250 with an ancient inline 6, gooseneck ran over the scales at 26870, inflated the tires by observed temperatures, if they're hot add another 5psi, eventually ended up with 85/105/90 @115F across the axles, a little high for 10 ply tires but the temps stayed rock steady for a cross country trip. wasn't a great idea but had to get r done. 51mph max and I certainly treated that weight with a lot of extra caution.

    You should upgrade to an 84” high roof OTR tractor so you have a bed for sleepy passengers/co-drivers on long trips. As a bonus you can bring two more guests if necessary or wanted and OTR tractors have bigger engines and more gears and some of them actually get better fuel mileage. I dunno what kind of trucking background you have if any, but if not, check out ARI Legacy sleeper bunks. They will blow your mind. Full kitchen and premium bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Pretty much a RV with a class 8 5th wheel and a road tractor cab. That said even the 84” & 96” factory sleeper bunks are very well appointed and you can get things like skylights for the person in the top bunk to have a clear view of the night sky and a lot of them will have mobile Directv dishes and receivers, have mini fridge and freezer and mini kitchen not unlike the one in your camper but not quite as big, built in tv & entertainment inputs with quasi surround sound and the lower bunk converts to a seating booth and table.
