Tomatoes - Speed painting in Corel Painter

This is a video I made in Painter of me digitally painting some tomatoes. I've been taking a course on Oil Painting and I decided, before painting on Canvas, that practicing and laying out what I wanted to paint in Painter may be a good idea. Taking the course has been wonderful. I've been following a very talented painter by the name of Paint Coach here on UA-cam and then also signed up on Pat...

MysticalTouch - Parenting a Prop in DS4
Awesome, everything worked except my character stayed swollen?
The weight map you drew should be controlling that (Telling DS/the dial which areas stay swollen and which areas to "push or pull") I would double check your weight mapping to be sure something didn't happen that is making the weight map not apply. Sorry I can't help more than that but its hard unless I can see everything but I would start there to troubleshoot. Maybe go back over that section of the video (under Zeroing the Weight Map to Remove the Modifier from the Full Mesh heading) forward to see if maybe you missed a step somewhere. It can be easy enough to do. The first time I tried this, I had similar issues. Let me know if that helps <3
@@ann0314 I appreciate your help thanks I will try it again
VERY COOL! I've always wondered how to do that. Thank you very much for taking the time to show us. The one thing I am wondering is, what if you wanted to take that dress with the new material zones and put it on a different figure? If you save it as a scene, it will always be on that figure, will it not?
In that case you would have to save the main file for the clothing (IE save the figure) but in doing that you run the risk of over-writing the original files or corrupting things which is why I didn’t go into that process. That said “In the Studio with Daz 3D Featuring Jay Versluis” here on UA-cam may cover that process or Jay may on his UA-cam Channel
@@ann0314 Great!. Thank you for the reply to this.
@@ME-bc8wt You are very welcome <3 :O)
That was perfect and it did work exactly as shown. Thanks
So for someone who has never had a grasp on how post work is really done due to not being in the industry, and being very new to DAZ, I have to say this video was very informative, its like unlocked all the stuff in my mind about a basic process into post work, thank you so much, ! I like the fact that you're very honest and transparent about your own learnings, it makes this video more real in my opinion. To some of the people with negative comments, “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all” - (Thumper from Bambi)
I'm so glad that you found the information helpful and that its opened you up to post-working possibilities. <3
This is really impressive! I just saw it today.
Thank you Barbult <3 :O)
fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for. There's a lot of minutia here that is explained (Thank God) but she made a great index so that you can skip through, depending on your level and needs. I played it at 1.75x-2x speed so as not to miss anything but still get through it quickly. Again, thanks so much to the author for this.
Nice tutorial ! thank you
@HLEET So glad you enjoyed it <3 :)
So basically this is a way to break up a render into passes, based on what you want in each pass.
@Andrew Vrba Yes. which helps greatly for those that choose to postwork in a 2D Application (whether just lightly or heavily) It's definitely optimal for those who prefer a more layered workflow/approach as well.
@@ann0314 I might need to give this a go then.
@@SomeOrangeCat Let me know if you do and post it somewhere. Id love to see how it turns out <3 Be sure to watch the second part - at least the beginning parts (There is one for GIMP and one for Photoshop) as there are some adjustments within 2D Apps that you need to make to use the layers (they can seem like they just render white as you have to adjust exposure basically)
how to save the shape of the hair once it was deforced? every time i use this hair on new models it is on blow mode by default and i have to use deforce in every pose again
I'm having the same issue
Thank you so much for this in depth explanation of how to render and use canvasses. I have tried in the past but didn't know how to set up the render. You have given me the knowledge to take my art to a new level!
This was very informative and useful, thx Art!
Exactly what I needed to learn, thanks so much!
So glad you found it useful! <3
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you!
You are very welcome. Thank so much for watching and please let me know if you have any questions <3
Excellent channel 👏
Thank you so much for the feedback <3 If you have any questions, please let me know! :O)
You are very gifted.
Thank you very much, that is very sweet of you to say <3 ((HUGS))
Dear Ann, thank you so much for this tutorial... I watched it before and am watching again now because the procedure did not stick in my head yet... I really like the push modifier (I am using it right now to squish a butt) versus 1) dformer - seems too complex setting up the influence sphere, 2) smoothing modifier - so stupid - can't have the collision effect without also smoothing the whole figure.
So glad you have found uses for it <3 It can be very handy for sure and fun to use. I know I've found it handy for sure and sometimes you can find even more ways to use it then you initially think of. If you have any questions, please let me know! <3
Thank you Ann, this is an excellent tutorial and very helpful.
So glad you liked it <3 Please let me know if you have any questions <3
thanks might get this now!
Thanks for the vid, non of the other youtubers have made a tutorial on the push modifier as good or thorough as yours.
@gaslone79 I am so glad you found it useful <3 If you have any questions, please let me know <3
Keep it up
Btw, if you double click the hand tool icon it will fit to screen for you as a quick short cut instead of using the menu. Also, double clicking the magnifying glass will show it at full resolution.
Depth vs Distance, just a guess one is relative to the camera and one is absolute to the world. Which is why they were similar but a little different.
This is a fantastic tutorial. Thanks so much!
You're very welcome! If you have any questions, please let me know <3
Nice Tutorial, love it keep it up...!
Thank you <3 If you have any questions, please let me know <3
this is great, I use this for G2M LONG time ago, I really hope some vendors will work on G8 Generation
I was literally just thinking that I need a way to further customize an armor set that I love but is way too popular on book covers to use out of the box. Definitely picking this up, thank you so much for the in depth tutorial, this was incredibly helpful. You're a star!
So glad you found it useful. I do have like a more involved version of this that is doing new surfaces for armor if needed. It ran a bit longer than I wanted so I went with this version but if you find that it would be useful I can try and get that one uploaded. Please let me know if you have any questions :O)
Thank you! :)
You're welcome!
Nice video. As someone who likes fashion design and digital rendering this was pretty interesting. It's very informational and tells you exactly what you can do for specific needs. Very straightforward and easy to follow.
Aww TY <3 <3 Granted I made some boo boos in it (said I was doing one thing but actually did something else LOL) So may go back and fix it some but TY <3 )
Hi, I'm starting with DS, I saw some comments about how important postwork is but, sadly, without explanation.Your demonstration proove the point and give many advices and clues. Thanks.
You’re very welcome. I’m glad you found it useful :O) On the topic of postwork it depends on your workflow - like with anything artistic really. You have to sort of experiment and see what works for you. I’ve known some incredible artist who can render in DS and do no postwork )or very minimal) and make gorgeous artwork that way and then I’ve know amazing artist who combine that with some adjustment in postwork and the. Others who postwork things a lot and paint details in etc that are amazing. The best way to do it will never be how others say you should but rather what works best for you and your process. So just experiment and play till you find what suits you as an artist best.
Thank you for the information. It is a lot of helpful information. Always more to learn and I am enjoying the journey thanks to great tutorials.
So glad you enjoyed it. There is more to follow for the series so there will be more up tomorrow if you want to check back <3 Learning definitely is a journey, you will find that sometimes I learn new things while doing the tutorials LOL. Pretty sure it just never ends :)
@@ann0314 Teaching is one of the best ways to learn. You put your mind to how best to explain something and get questions that you might not thought of before. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share.
Came here for shaders, stayed for the OCD of naming conventions and organised folders... My folders are like a bedroom that's been turned upside down, where you walk in and do a quick U-Turn. Awesome vid. P.s. Burgundy you little rebel. Ahaaa
LOL Glad you enjoyed it. On the OCD, funny enough I've pretty much named my files the same general way for years now (that said every PA/Merchant sort of has their own method) but so yeah I'm a little nutty about it (IDK why LOL) That said though, with sets like this where others may want to play or find things to see what they can come up with, I think having naming that hopefully makes sense easily and stays consistent is important. (Though I am sorry, I know being in my head is a scary kinda place hehe) And LOL on the Burgundy LOL. This series is actually from from done though so there will be more videos added over the coming days <3
Nice work! Will definitely have to get :)
There are more videos that show more of the set (this time I decided to do a whole series so I could cover more uses and help those who may be new to DS) :O) I'm just working slowly on getting everything edited and uploaded but TY for taking a peek. I appreciate it! <3 :O)
@@ann0314 well dont always have to be new, I dont think I even know half of what daz can do lol Hope you have a lovely weekend! :)

Thank you! Very useful, one like.
So glad you found it useful <3 :O)
This was incredibly informative and helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Thank you! So glad you found it useful :O)
Normals pass is the 3D curvature relative to the camera, a very powerful pass that can be used to relight the scene or specific sections, add light or shadow effects and more. It's used a lot in 3D animation compositing.
Thank you for the additional information <3
No offense but if you want viewers..write a script. You spent a lot of time telling people tocuse a nonstandard graphics formar..tgen a lot of time explaining the daz gui......
Thanks for the feedback, I will take it under advisement :O) As for going over the GUI, the Tutorial is for New Users who have little to no prior knowledge of DS so my tutorials assume people are just starting out and may need help finding things. Its why I index the videos - so if you need help finding just specific information, you can jump directly to that information.
She’s talking about everything, but the tutorial. I stopped listening and fast forward a few times and the left to find a better tutorial.
thank you so much ! Rreally helpful for me 💖
Your very welcome <3 If you'd like to see anything else covered, please let me know. I also do some longer tutorials on various topics as well so just let me know if you want to learn anything specific and if you want it longer or shorter form.
Fantastic! I make alot of fight scenes and I've just been using the dformer. I'll try this tool out. Thanks for the tute!
Glad you enjoyed it. If you have any questions, please let me know! <3
Thanks for this amazing tutorial ♡
You're welcome 😊
very nice!
Thank you! <3 :O)
Can I add this texture to my clothes and sell them nice tutorial by the way thanks
Yea as it’s a merchant resource. I do ask that you use it as a texture on the physical mapping of your clothing rather than including the tiles as they are. If you have any other questions, please let me know! <3
thanks for these, very helpfull. but have to ask. whats with the lion at 3:50 lol
That was me being completely silly (Lion snarling at my blank and empty result heh) I was more just playing and decided to add it in - sorry about that. Does it make it better that it makes me giggle? :O) Happy Holidays! <3
I found this pretty helpful, and I personally enjoyed the pace. I can see why some would take issue with it, but for someone who is definitely not very fast or efficient, this was the right kind of speed to not come off as intimidating.
So glad it was helpful to you <3
It's fun. But it's ultra limited as it seems to act only on the base mesh without subdivision. So for a foot eventually it's ok. But for a hand, where you want to feel fingers pressed on the skin, it's useless. So many interesting tools & functions in DAZ act only on the base mesh without subd.
That would likely be better suited to control with a morph. There are some tools I believe within DS for doing morphs in App, though personally I use ZBrush for things I need that level of detail on (or normal maps/height maps. So I am not entirely positive.
Of note, I just saw someone approach this very thing using push modifiers and the way they approached it was to add the deformation/push modifier to the receiving item (IE the item that the fingers were supposed to push into - in this case it was a person) So they morphed the skin on the person using the push modifier (or a group of them) to get the look. That said there are other ways with more control that may prove better like the previous ones I mentioned.
Great tutorial about the set-up! I'm sure it will help a lot of people join in on the fun. Some notes: -Shadow and Ambient Occlusion only work in Interactive mode (Interactive Only). They don't work in Photoreal mode. -The Beauty canvas is the sum of Diffuse, Specular and Glossy canvasses. If you add the three together in PS, you get a Beauty render. -The Oso Toon Shader for Iray includes a script that assigns random Material IDs to everything that has an Iray shader. 3DL shaders don't include a Material ID and won't show up. -LPEs are what DS sends to Iray, but DS provides a simpler interface. Typing <L'Spotlight1'>.*E into the text box gives the same thing as a Light Group canvas with Spotlight1 as your node selection. Le .* E is an Environmental canvas. With LPEs you can specify stuff like only reflected as opposed to direct light, only direct light, light from one light source on one object, etc. Here's a better explanation with a link at the bottom to Nvidia's helpful blog post www.lightworkdesign.com/images/support/3dsMaxDocumentation/features/light-path-expressions.html Lots of good Iray info there generally. -Every decent image editor can open EXR files nowadays, so only one render is necessary.
Thank you for all the extra info and tips. That is greatly appreciated <3 :)
Thanks
If you have any questions at all, please let me know <3
@@ann0314 yes i have question how you make texture which you used in substance painter
@@tborth They can be made in multiple different ways. You can scan real materials (Allegorithmic has tutorials on their website for ways to do that). You can also use various programs like Substance Designer to create them as well. There are some really great tutorials here on UA-cam by Allegorithmic that go into creating Procedural textures which are well worth watching if you have not seen them.
