David Sylvian & Mick Karn - "When Love Walks In"
Переглядів 433 тис.15 років тому
"Dreams of Reason Produce Monsters" is Mick Karn's second solo album and features him playing a variety of woodwinds and basses, as well as keyboards and drums. "When Love Walks In" is one of the two tracks that feature lyrics and vocals (by David Sylvian, Karn's former bandmate in Japan) are the most memorable. They emphasize the interplay between Karn's sinuous fretless playing and Sylvian's ...

Waiting for them till pretty late at night or ... pretty early in the morning ...hee hee .. but it was a good reward .. we were outside the Hotel "Crowne Plaza" at Santiago of Chile between 13/14 february 2008
Fantastic keyboards on this track - as good as anything anywhere - and then there's Rob's guitar...
His way of playing bass guitar gave the world ears and made music alive. Thanks for all! R.I.P.
There first album was the best
JAPAN
There'll be tomorrow's given time Just close your eyes and leave this all behind... RIP Mick Karn.
Beautiful
My all time fav song of Japan. This first lp was a killer not just the music but the way he sang on the first album.
I like Japan´s experimental energy.
💜🤘🏾ALL HAIL DAVID SYLVIAN AND JAPAN🤘🏾💜 R.I.P. MICK KARN 🎸
The greatest travesty in music was David Sylvian splitting the band up......R.I.P. Mick you were the best.
Something in the air, love wallks in.mick karn, David sylvian,Steven Jansen his brother, richard Barbieri,Masami tsuchiya japan ✨🌹💞🙏🎸🌌 Merci.
Micks fretless bass - superb.
I had the Quiet Life and Tin Drum albums and loved them but recently discovered this one. What a brilliant album.....apparently it didn't do well on it's release....what was wrong with the world?! Did they freak out at the title?
amazing track very talented an young nice photo compilation RIP Mick karn sadly missed
That guitar solo ending reminds me Hurricane by Neil young

My favorite band, part of my life... The real sound of the hidden 70s
Oh the heady days when this and its predecessor Moonage Daydream were my go to songs. Pure escapism….
Love this & still so very relevant, if not more so, in 2022 🤔🌏🌎🌍❤️🖤
I love this song❤
Ik they moved onto a musical direction where the guitar was needed less and less, but damn that solo at the end makes me wish Rob Dean had stuck around longer
Japan’s sound came from his unique style and sound. One in a million. Like Jaco Pastorius, Mick Karn passed away at the height of his powers but had so much more to give
I would like to hear Khruangbin cover this song.

A strange band in the sense of having two seperate identities. The glam rock combo who were not very distinguished morphed into these elegant aesthetes . It's a pretty dramatic progression - like comparing Sweet with Roxy Music. I wonder what prompted this. Did Sylvian have some kind of catharsis or was Simon Napier-Bell ,their very clever manager, pulling the strings in the background and urging this change of approach take place? It certainly worked.
Life in Tokyo, Georgio Morodor, was a turning point. Also, producer John Punter. Playing in Japan several times, the band became interested in the traditional culture, specifically a different conception of, and attention to, space. Perhaps the influence of Bowie's Low, "Heroes"; The Idiot (Iggy and Bowie)? New affordable synthesisers coming onto the market.
Love you Mick 🖤
Sublime!!! Amazing song ... I remember Japan in 78, my denims, Geronimo brand leather shoes (Canada) and being ridiculously young too.
Close your eyes and never mind the visuals
masterpiece.
Never date a japanese girl if you're in a band.
Mick Karn was the most original bassist ever. Constant awe of his sense of rhythm and melody is the appropriate human response. His untimely death remains an absolute tragedy for which we celebrate the blessing that we lived in the same era that he was alive and blessed us with his unparalleled gift of musical brilliance. And, he could sculpt his ass.
;-) (The "could ______ his/her ass" phrase as in an insiders art term for top excellence!) Bless you Mick.
Mick Karn est le bassiste le plus original et talentueux que j'ai jamais écouté ❤
I love you both, my dear David and Mick
I've got a suburban love alright. She's got her love coming now. My love for you is killing me. I adore you, my love, my girl, my fairy faced angel who crashed down from heaven. I will love you anytime, anywhere. Always.
What a solo at the end from Rob Dean. I know Japan changed their sound but I love this early stuff. Probably the moat underrated song in their catalogue
you are right ! that solo at end is Epic! Thanks for your comment! x
Like Mick Ronson’s solo in Bowie’s Moonage daydream.
E ora ? Sei solo, musicalmente parlo,ti manca Mik vero David ?
Sound original.....stop
Just close your eyes and leave this all behind♥

Somehow I'd forgotten what a flaming good track this is! Love it and the accompanying pictures, beautifully done. Such a slick and classy number from a band that was so young!

Sakamoto & Sylvian, 2 absolutely amazing artists.
