I was trying a bunch of non-Western ingredients, sauces, etc. And oyster sauce has great umami, but, I really didn't like it :c I tried a little, and a lot, and it never complimented what I made. I think MSG is superior because of its utility and it doesn't add extra flavor other than the savoryness.
