Zark was an insult to kids’ intelligence. Although I was a huge fan of BOTP, not so when it came to Zark or the awful animation they used for the team when they popped in to see him. If he were done today, I wonder what he would be like?

I grew up in japan, there was no robot, then came to the US and a robot taking half the show...not doing anything

this was the American shit that they added in... The U.S. always butchered anime, the worst of the all Gotchaman (voltron) where they blended together 2 anime

It's a good thing they changed the kids in the US wouldn't have understood this. I was 3 years old when this came in the US and I could barely understand it then I definitely wouldn't have understood violence

Cartoons are for kids not for adults that can't handle reality.

I think the Japanese version Gatchaman conveys the drama and emotion far better than the watered-down Battle of The Planets. The 7-Zark-7 sequences were created exclusively for BOTP, to censor the violent and controversial themes.(At least by 70s American standards.)

It also sums me up whenever I'm playing D&D.

I was very young when Battle of the Planets came out, probably 5 years old. But I knew something was “off” about this character. He never interacted with the GOOD parts of the show or the good characters lol.

I love watching this show growing up in the 70's, the guy who played Mark in this was Radio DJ and American Bandstand is Casey Kasem, he also voiced Robin in Batman, and he was the Autobot Cliffjumper

Fucking US "No Death" Cartoons are just lame. That's why we don't watch anything US made or US adapted. The whole reason Japanese Anime was addictive was that people DIE and you don't know if some one will survive. Even 5 year olds know that GI Joe was lame and watch Gatchaman, Gundam, Space Battleship Yamato, Macross instead.

Come on guy's,all yall acting like its some kind of conspiracy or something. They sugar coated these because they were expecting children to be watching and back then in the Dark ages parents didn't want their kiddos watching stuff that could warp their fragile little minds, unlike today a lot of parents could care less and even demand that their kids be subjected to 280 pounds of fat guy twerking in their faces dressed like a perverted bafoon while tossing dollar bills at said perverts. But yeah at least now you can enjoy the full experience of Gatchman in it's original form...Enjoy....

The original darker version is my favorite.

I can barely remember the show , but I do remember having a, whatever it was called, coloring book. I recently went into a Gatchaman rabbit hole on ebay and picked up VOL 1&2 DVD BoxSet of the Japanese series, plus a two hour movie, all in English. Shoopa, Shoopa, Shoopa, Shoopa! I hope I can watch it enough to learn a second language!

Just remember when Battle of the Planets came out, Episode 4 of Star Wars was the thing and they made Gatchaman into.this to cash in on the movie's popularity. 7 Zark 7 was a fusion of R2D2 and C3-PO was an example of this.

I’ve never even seen this show, but I can really tell the US actors were really good, they did such an amazing job playing as robots.

Sandy Frank edited out all of the great parts of Gatchaman & replaced it with 7 Zark 7 & Susan flirting with each other using blinking lights all of the time.
