Phish- While My Guitar Gently Weeps 10/31/94 SBD
boy can that mushroom head ginger play!
Its crazy that 4 dorky ass suburban white boys can play the blues like this. Trey was going lightspeed - Holy shit!!
mop head Trey is the best Trey
When to Bozeman a couple of weeks after this man Divided Sky and Tweezer.
Thank You
Phish was a special band back then. It was stuff like this & their utter unpredictability that made them amazing.
Holy moly that is nuts
🎊 Japan 🇯🇵 🎊
Cocaine trey
"Prince, hold my beer" - Trey
CUM EVERYWHERE!!!
This song in particular was a collaboration between Bill Monroe and Hank Williams Sr. Its a true great!
My birth day :)
The shirt lmao
94 Trey will not go down in his career history as his best year, mostly because he had not yet had his 96 less is more, minimalism breakthrough showcased by the 96-98 funk jams and playing remain in light. That epiphany armed him with the skill set to command show after show without having to only resort to obvious guitar theatrics. But if you think about his tone and his all fireworks and explosions style of improvising, it was a completely different thing than Jerry who was probably the most influential guitarist before that. Now look how many guitarists just sound exactly like Trey even his same all mid compressed tone. It seems like Treys tone had an even BIGGER impact. I didn't know he was copying zappa, I'd honestly never heard anyone with treb bass on zero mids on 10 and then sustain notes forever it was like a revolution in guitar sound. Lol at all the people that couldn't handle it now their wives make them pay for babysitters and they go to Fri/Sat phish runs every year at some venue... Har. Har..
holy sh*t. this is incredible. I will be watching this for years
George Harrison was rocking out in his grave during this, def pullin treys strings
George Harrison was alive for this....
@@seantellsyou1 damn you’re right 😵 I thought he died way earlier than that
This makes me so happy :) This was on my birthday!

Good hair.
YOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fishman laughing off camera
oh damn
This is great, a train literally is rolling thru my little town.
I think Trey's *short* solo here is arguably one of his very best ever
At first I thought it said *shirt* solo. And I be like..yeeah.
Best Character Zero of all time
For any other band, a song with this energy and this climax it would surely be an opener or closer or most likely an encore. It’s a song that continues to build and build and build and leaves an audience going nuts. For Phish in ‘94, it’s a mid first set tune. Love it!
Trey looks hella high.
not bad
Sorry Prince, your solo takes the backseat to this one.
lol at prince
Right? Prince's is good and flashy, but kinda generic. His phrasing and style isn't nearly as distinguishable and original as Trey's.
This is Phish at their absolute peak. They were on an absolute mission, in my opinion, from their early days and it culminated with 12/31/95. Of course the argument can justifiably be made that their peak moment was Big Cypress and I’d never argue that. But for the early years when they were touring all year and just getting better and better each night it seemed, I feel like every night they were a band who came out to prove that they were the best live act going. They worked so hard. They developed their fervent fan base. They were like a comet racing across the sky and in late ‘94 you had this show, you had Phish on Letterman, you had Phish selling out MSG the first time they ever played there after Letterman show, you had the meteoric rise of ‘95 and a band leaving melted faces and warmed hearts across the country in their wake. Garcia passed in the summer. Phish was booked for the Garden on 12/30 and 12/31 and on New Years Eve the gauntlet had been laid down. They pulled out all the stops. Played an absolute classic show as if to say we’re here to stay and this is who we’ve become in the past 12yrs. That’s how I like to remember it at least.
imo 93-95 was the peak, and they rode that high throughout the rest of 1.0. Not to say 2.0 or 3.0 are bad, by any means, but nothing will compare to those earlier years
Just a Coupla Paninis obviously, I wholeheartedly agree. What a time that was to be a fan of this band.
Jerry shirt trey!
That red English sheepdog nails the solo.
Trey and Mike's hair looking like they just came out of a 6 month Quarantine
The man is a living legend.
They played the song at the gig that night at UMichigan
Giant t shirt and crazy hair is top tier
I disagree. Sleeveless Trey rules supreme.
Worst version ever. Period.
I don't really like Phish and while I agree this is a little rough, its not that bad. They're obviously just having fun backstage and not taking it too seriously.
That shit is so blissed out...
Shreds the fuck outta that guitar
Listen to the Bill Monroe original where the whole point is to sing the 'blue notes' which stray from the major scale singing flatted 7ths and 3rd like minor key harmonies over the major key like blues, hence Blue and Lonesome. First time I heard Phish and thought they would suck but they have taken the worst jam session you ever heard and times it by infinity!
Agreed. Worst version ever.
Lol they're backstage doing stuff that happened to be filmed. They're not playing a show. Lighten the fuck up
No. Monroe's version of Fluffhead is much worse.
Recent Phish convert, lifelong Deadhead, by lifelong I mean I’m 20 And grew up in a family of deadheads. Hoist was my first album I listened to all the way through. This song blew my fucking mind. If I didn’t love Phish before that, which I sort of did, I totally did after listening to this song.
aquarium rescue unit...Page's shirt
Lol why cant they sing this good anymore
And this isn't even particularly good. Listen to Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski do it. Real singing.
man that second DAAA DAAAAAAAAA love it lel
mikes voice on that high note should be president
Page's?
That’s why Del is president.
Which documentary?
Garcia......realy
piece of Phish
