    that so called quick link on your repel line is a bad idea for numerous reasons, I would consider replacing it with a proper carabiner.

    • @ontargetadventures4940
      @ontargetadventures4940 9 годин тому

      It's a climbing rated quick link that's made to handle side pressure. It's not one I bought from Menards or something like that. It's designed for this application. I should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks for watching! Tom

      @ontargetadventures4940 one issue i had experienced with those types is they can spin open from contact with your rope or contact with bark ect. or the can spin tight to the point where you can't open it with hands... which in some applications could be a problem.. in your case you could simply repel down and use a wrench to loosen it on the ground. Just something to be aware of....

      The plot spreads across 2 soil types. One good soil and one poor soil type. I have brought the PH up with a lime application after a soil test indicated it low two years ago. I think the PH is one of the biggest factors to a good result. Thanks for watching!

    Do you prefer the rubicon or cold world more for hybrid hunting? Which one do you think is better?

    • @ontargetadventures4940
      @ontargetadventures4940 Місяць тому

      For hybrid hunting I would say the Cold world because it's lighter. There is a noticable difference in weight. About 3 lbs lighter. The platform is slightly smaller on the cold world but still pretty similar. If you have the money and mostly face the tree with your saddle go for the cold world if you have the money. If you're going to be mostly sitting down using it like a traditional stand I would say go for the Rubicon because it's slightly bigger platform and more comfortable seat.

    • @masonoertli4099

      Thanks for the quick response! Looking to hop on the sale they have on the cold world now. Is the grip texture the same on both stands?

    • @tomnolan2186
      @tomnolan2186 Місяць тому

      Wow, that's a great sale they got going on! Just checked it out. So the cold world feels like sandpaper grip, really gritty. But I will say after using a season it broke in nicely. It's still really grippy but not as bad as it was. The Rubicon does not have that at all.

      Sorry I replied back from my other UA-cam account. I'm not sure you got the response. The cold world had sandpaper grit texture. It was kind of Overkill I thought but broke in nicely after using it a bit. The Rubicon does not have that sandpaper grit and is more smooth to the touch

    Ordered the ION earlier this month but sold it and ordered the Rubicon. The ION is HUGE but feels pretty light for how big of a stand it is, i know ill like the Rubicon little more with me being 5'10 and 190lbs. This is the best review on utube. And iv looked at close to 30 on this pack. No one shows how to remove the pack, or how it sits with a heavy load. My only concern is that the stays that hang below the shelf might hit my button when I walk as they seem to hang below the shelf a good deal. Any problem with that ? Just wondering before I hit buy on Amazon..

    • @ontargetadventures4940
      @ontargetadventures4940 2 місяці тому

      I didn't have any problems with that during testing. One thing I will say is that the bar behind your head was pretty high up and I had a hard time going under branches. So if you're a person that ducks under a lot of branches where you hunt you might want to reconsider. I hunt a lot of thick nasty stuff and I'm really tall so I'm always ducking under stuff. So I ended up not using the bag as much as I thought I would.

    Why do you have the back end facing the turkey?

    • @ontargetadventures4940
      @ontargetadventures4940 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching. They seem to circle around towards you one way or the other to get a peek. If it were facing you they would probably expect to see a head also and it's not realistic then. Someone told me that a while back and they are correct. They almost always come in closer and circle around one way or the other to check it out. Plus I don't want to carry around a half turkey reaper decoy on public land also. I don't want any red or anything that resembles a turkey head for safety reasons on public land as well. So by just having the fan it's super light, safer in my opinion, and very effective. I think it actually gets some of them mad that they aren't turning around to look at them.

    That's an extra 250 dollars for less to stand on, a 3 pound weight difference, paying more for 3 pounds less material in cast platform is as stupid as it sounds. Competitive pricing should have it 30.00 cheaper than the vanish, not more 🤦

      @@ontargetadventures4940 I like your review, but 3 pounds lighter, with less platform for an additional 250, I'm a mobile public hunter, I can buy 2 xop vanish for 10 cheaper than one cold world. That's way beyond deal breaker.
